Q: What are the different coil leveling methods used for steel coils?
There are several coil leveling methods used for steel coils, including roller leveling, stretcher leveling, and tension leveling. Roller leveling involves passing the coil through a series of rollers to remove any curvature and create a flat surface. Stretcher leveling involves stretching the coil in different directions to remove any shape irregularities. Tension leveling applies tension to the coil during the leveling process to eliminate any residual stresses and create a uniformly flat product.
Q: What is the minimum order quantity for steel coils?
The minimum order quantity for steel coils can vary depending on the supplier and specific product. It is recommended to contact the supplier directly to inquire about their minimum order requirements for steel coils.
Q: I went to the store to get metal to make a knife and they had weldable steel and plate steel. Which one would be best/ which steels would be best for what i want to do?
Weldable steel is a generic term for steel with low carbon content which makes it easy to weld, form, and machine. If you're looking for a knife blade material, you need either a stainless steel or a high carbon steel which is not at all weldable. The more carbon in steel, the better it responds to heat treatment like hardening, tempering, etc. Plus, the high carbon steel will hold an edge better. Hope this helped.
Q: I don't know it is low alloy steel or high allow steel or medium carbon steel
It is a high alloy steel. Look at all the elements in it's name for it's composition: 30% Chromium and Nickel 8% Molybdenum Sounds like a very tough stainless tool steel for cutting rock or something. Chromium and nickel arre the two elements they use to make stainless steel and molybdenum is used to make steel very hard and wear resistant
Q: They are showing on tv a special on how the new World Trade Center, building 1, is being built. Focusing on the steel and the guys fitting everything together.Where do builders go to buy all that steel framing? We do not build really tall buildings where I live so most of the steel is cut and welded on the job site. At World Trade Center 1, they seem to get the steel on trucks; already cut and welded.
The steel is all custom fabricated in what are called structural steel fabrication shops. Each Building is designed by architects then the frame is designed by engineers to support whatever load is being applied to the building. After the engineering is done it goes out for a bid package where a fab shop estimates how much to charge for the fabrication of the steel and the erection of the steel. Once a company wins the bid, it then has to design how the steel will connect with one another and have it approved by an engineering firm to assure the connections are strong enough. Once all of that happens the fab shop orders raw steel beams and angle iron and steel plate at stock lengths. Beams are then cut into the right length and holes drilled in the proper places. The beam is then marked with a number that tells the erectors where it goes. The steel is then shipped out in batches to the construction site where it is unloaded and shook out into an organized place to grab them with a crane. They are then put together like a toy model, there are instructions that say what beam goes where and what size bolt to use. The welding you see being done is on really critical moments that need extra strength. That is about how it goes in a nutshell. It is a bit more complicated than that but it gives you an idea.
Q: What is the role of steel coils in the production of storage tanks?
Steel coils are used in the production of storage tanks as they provide the necessary material for constructing the tank's shell. The coils are shaped and welded together to form the cylindrical structure, ensuring strength and durability. Additionally, the use of steel coils allows for customization, enabling the tanks to be built to specific sizes and capacities.
Q: this is for a school project due morrow can u please answerwhat are disadvantages of stainless steelplease also show were u got info ty
Disadvantages of Stainless Steel: 1. High initial cost 2. Difficult to fabricate, or in other words, it is not as malleable as other metals, say iron, and hence if not fabricated properly, results in costly re-work. 3. Difficult to weld 4. High cost of polishing etc. i.e. adding finishing touches for the market. Also, for the record: Stainless steel does NOT rust. One of the advantages of it over other metals (steel and iron) are that it is rust-free. But of course, depending on the environment condition (E.g. long periods in a rainforest without use at all) it can rust....this is a very rare (and unfortunate) situation. ;)
Q: Can steel coils be coated with anti-tampering materials?
Yes, steel coils can be coated with anti-tampering materials. These coatings are designed to enhance security measures and deter any unauthorized access, tampering, or theft of the steel coils.
Q: How do steel coils contribute to the water and wastewater industry?
The water and wastewater industry heavily relies on steel coils as a crucial component for constructing and maintaining its infrastructure. These coils, made from high-quality steel, offer numerous advantages for the industry. To begin with, steel coils are essential in the production of pipes and tubes used primarily for transporting water and wastewater. Steel pipes are renowned for their exceptional strength and durability, enabling them to withstand high pressure and heavy loads. This makes them ideal for water distribution systems, sewage networks, and treatment plants. Steel coils provide the necessary material to manufacture these pipes, ensuring reliable and long-lasting infrastructure. Furthermore, steel coils are also utilized in constructing storage tanks and reservoirs. These tanks are vital for water treatment plants, serving as storage for large volumes of water or wastewater during the treatment process. Steel coils provide the required material for fabricating these tanks, guaranteeing their structural integrity and preventing leaks or contamination. Moreover, steel coils are used in manufacturing various equipment and components indispensable in the water and wastewater industry. For instance, steel coils are employed to produce pumps, valves, and control systems, which are crucial for the efficient operation of water treatment plants, pumping stations, and sewage networks. Steel's strength and corrosion resistance make it an ideal material for these applications, ensuring reliable and long-lasting equipment. Additionally, steel coils are also employed in constructing wastewater treatment plants and facilities. These plants employ various processes to eliminate contaminants from wastewater before discharging it into the environment. Steel coils provide the necessary material for constructing these facilities, including structural supports, tanks, and other components. The durability and resilience of steel ensure the longevity and efficiency of these treatment plants. In conclusion, steel coils play an integral role in the water and wastewater industry by contributing to the construction and maintenance of critical infrastructure. They are used in manufacturing pipes, tanks, equipment, and facilities, guaranteeing the strength, reliability, and durability required for the efficient operation of water and wastewater systems.
Q: I was watching a documentary on the samurai vs the European knight. It said that the when Japan was being invaded by the (cant remember) they needed a new weapon. The enemies armor made iron swords useless. While steel swords broke when in combat. So to combat this the Japanese made a hybrid sword. They used a special mold that made the swords back iron while the part that makes contact with the enemy was steel. Also the sword was curved so it increased its armor and cutting power. This revolutionary design made the the sword stronger. The iron back made it not break while the steel edge made it cut through the enemies armor. I want to know how iron is stronger than steel, and how steel can cut better than iron.
Yes because metal alloys are comparatively more strong than pure metal. The worst thing is that iron gets rusted whereas steel does not.And the skyscrapers are made of steel buddy , iron is not used in them.
