Q: I’m looking to purchase an inverter for use on my boat. I have 3 12v batteries in parallel, with a switch. So, I save one for ignition, but the other 2 (260AH together) I use for appliances. Most applications are run through 12v, but I’m looking to run an AC mini fridge (propane and 12v fridges are too expensive and I already have this one), one laptop charger (85watts) and 1 usb phone charger. I’ve tried a 400w inverter but apparently the compressor turn on of the fridge is over the 800w surge that the inverter is capable of. So my question is 2. 1, can an 800w (1600w surge) inverter handle this 3 item load? 2, how much power loss will I be incurring from the inefficiency of the power inverter? I was told that a 400w inverter run on standby with no load for 24hrs would use about 9AH from my 12v bank. Not sure if that’s right or wrong or if I can assume an 800w would be 16AH or not?Thanks so much for the help: 12v To 110v Inverter

Q: Hey All, So my family has been having trouble concerning my grandmother and grandfather and their possessions. They have both been placed in a nursing home, and at this point both are not both there.in non-scientific terms. But, a few months ago before their state deteriorated, my mother typed up a document that stated she would be in charge of their bank card, vehicle, etc. She had it signed by my grandmother, signed by a witness, and notarized. Is that considered official document making her the power of attorney? If so, does that mean anything listed in that document is now her responsibility? Thanks: A power of attorney is permission for your mother to act just as your grandmother would act. She would be able to sign her checks, sell her car pay her taxes, etc. The power of attorney is just a notice to everyone that your grandmother gave your mother permission to do stuff for her. It does not mean that your mother HAS to do the stuff. It sounds like the document that she and your grandmother signed is a good power of attorney. - Stuart

Q: I went to one of the major banks in Australia as a non-customer with $80 worth of $20 Australian notes wanting to exchange them for $10 Australian notes and they said it will cost 10% ($8) to do it. How can it cost so much money to change money in the same currency? I can understand it costing money if it was a lot of money or I brought in heap of coins but this was literally 4 notes! When the Fed was founded in 1913, the branches had more autonomy and the board was chaired by the Treasury secretary. It didn't work very well. Q: Hello everyone! I am trying to power a device off of a rechargeable battery. I am going to be making a xbox360 laptop but I would like it to be completely cordless. Like I was thinking of taking lithium Ion cells out of laptop batteries and soldering them together to make a bigger power bank to power the xbox360. But the one thing I am wondering is if that would be a good idea? I would like to know every ones input or if anyone has made like lithium ion battery banks or has modified some laptop batteries or something of similar sort and what there out come has been like. I am a very technical and handy person and not afraid to zap myself in the process :) so please leave a comment with your feed back :) any at all is fine, aslong as it relates to the topic :)! Thank you guys for all your help!!: To make power banks out of laptop batteries is somewhat difficult. The problem would be about recharging mostly, and a little about voltage matching. I doubt if anybody has ever managed to do that successfully. Other more feasible approach I would think, is to use lithium ion or polymer batteries commonly used in Radio-Controlled toys and its general battery charger. That way you can fit the voltage, number of cells, and be able to use balancer and general smart battery charger for your purpose. Q: I used to have my own apartment and paid the power bill I had a 400 dollar balance from it since forever. I have lived with a roomate who's name the bill has been in since. I want to move out and was wondering if I will have trouble getting the power for the new apartment turned on with a pass due balance or will they just tack it on when i start new service?: The power company likely has sold the old debt to a collection agency and it remains on your credit report. But you the memory of your past debt will be remembered and will require you to pay a deposit with the power company to receive service. This is not such a bad deal because they power company will pay you interest on your deposit at a higher rate than your could find with a certificate of deposit at a bank now a days. So be prepared to send in and extra $300 when you request service.
