- Q: Hey All, So my family has been having trouble concerning my grandmother and grandfather and their possessions. They have both been placed in a nursing home, and at this point both are not both there.in non-scientific terms. But, a few months ago before their state deteriorated, my mother typed up a document that stated she would be in charge of their bank card, vehicle, etc. She had it signed by my grandmother, signed by a witness, and notarized. Is that considered official document making her the power of attorney? If so, does that mean anything listed in that document is now her responsibility? Thanks
- A power of attorney is permission for your mother to act just as your grandmother would act. She would be able to sign her checks, sell her car pay her taxes, etc. The power of attorney is just a notice to everyone that your grandmother gave your mother permission to do stuff for her. It does not mean that your mother HAS to do the stuff. It sounds like the document that she and your grandmother signed is a good power of attorney. - Stuart
- Q: A. the power to require banks to hold reservesB. the power to inspect banksC. the power to prepare the federal budgetD. the power to issue currency
- C. The federal budget is prepared by Congress. Whoever is president usually submits a budget for congress to discuss, but they're the ones that actually make the budget.
- Q: Aren't they giving the corporations and banks more power by giving the government more power? And then they want the corporate controlled government to create more regulations that will shut down small business so big business doesn't have to worry about competition.
- Umthey have too much control over right-wing politicians. We’d like to eliminate that, get corporate cash completely out of politics, and close loopholes that are sucking the life out of our economy. Like this loophole (one of many, many stupid ones) costs us $100 billion a year. Deferral of Overseas Income Multinational companies don’t have to pay U.S. income taxes on overseas profits until they transfer them back home. But in reality, companies just leave their profits in overseas tax havens, deferring taxes indefinitely. Not only that, an accounting scheme known as “transfer pricing” allows companies to move profits from the U.S. to offshore havens so they’re counted as overseas earnings. For example a pharmaceutical company could sell a drug patent to a subsidiary in the Cayman Islands for a nominal fee, then have the subsidiary charge the parent company huge licensing fees. The company can then deduct the licensing fees from its taxable income in the U.S. and send the profits to its foreign subsidiary, where taxes can be indefinitely deferred. Some 83 percent of top 100 publicly traded companies had tax-haven units in 2009, according to the GAO. General Electric, Google, Pfizer, and many other companies use this technique. The federal government loses an estimated (PDF) $100 billion a year through offshore tax abuses.

- Q: As a beginner in economics im not educated in this field. Why does the gov insure banks? As in what way(s) does it do this and what is it trying to protect or insure by doing so? Dont be afraid to go in detail if necessary as im very interested to hear what you have to say. Thanks yahoo chaters
- Simple, so the ordinary people will have confidence in the banking system and deposit money into banks which the banks can then lend out and finance growth. In a nutshell it is simply explained as the FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corp) If you put $4,000.00 in a bank, and the bank becomes insolvent then the FDIC uses it's power to take over the bank. sell off it's investments and reimburse depositors. The FDIC does not reimburse investments, because all investments involve the risk of loss.
- Q: A.allowing South Carolina to secede from UnionB.depositing federal funds in the National BankC.refusing to be bound by Supreme Court decisionsD.vetoing the Force Act of 1833 Some people said it's C.But in my textbook, the author uses lots of paragraphs to talk about the veto rights to thge congress to gain more presidential power. So, I became confused~
- The answer is C. Jackson was against nullificatiion by S. Carolina. Jackson was against Nicholas Biddle and the National Bank of the US but believed ina stronger bank system of individual states. He was for the tariffs in South Carolina that were part of the Force Acts of 1833. Jackson was once quoted as saying The Court has made their ruling , now let them try to enforce it.
- Q: i want to know that does capacitor comsumed any energy means real power capacitor is of 440 v 100 kvar and if then how should i calculate?
- A real capacitor or bank of capacitors is not just a capacitor. Real capacitors have an equivalent series resistance (E.S.R.) and equivalent series Inductance (E.S.L). Capacitors heat up when you pass they conduct and an Alternating Current, because of their (E.S.R.). Most small capacitors for electronic applications do not conduct much current so their E.S.R. is not often published but capacitors for high power applications conduct a lot of current and their E.S.R. is often published with a tolerance range. To determine what power is consumed, you need to find the E.S.R. number (R) for the capacitors, find the average (R.M.S.) value of the current (I) that they will be conducting and use the formula. - Q: If the America people ever allow private banks to control the issuance of their currencies, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all their prosperity until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. -Thomas JeffersonAt this point, the Federal Reserve can expand or reduce the money supply with no government oversight. It can essentially counterfeit as much money as it wants and charge interest on it. Money is loaned out to government to allow deficit spending and money is loaned out to other public and private entities. The net effect is that the purchasing power of the dollar for people who CAN'T print up their own money has fallen 96% since the Fed was created. In the past one family member could pay for a house and all other expenses; now it takes two workers. What should be done??
- First, note that Jefferson was talking about PRIVATE banks, not the Federal Reserve (which didn't exist then). Second, the purchasing power of the dollar hasn't fallen by 96%. And, if you choose to live in the same type of home that was common in Jefferson's era, go ahead and build it (most folks built their own homes with their own hands -- basic and rather crude, but affordable). If, on the other hand, you want modern convenience, automatic heating and cooling, electronics galore and two cars in a push-button garage, then yes, both of you will have to work. What should be done? a prayer of thanks to both Jefferson and Hamilton would be appropriate.
- Q: I was looking at this truck and like it alot, its a 1985 Chevy 3/4 ton 6.2L Diesel, it does NOT have a turbo on it. The owner wants $1,500 for it. The only problem is that it'll start and run but it smokes on the left bank and has no power. I have no clue what is wrong with it? I was wondering if any of you guys knew what would be wrong with this truck? I also wanted to know if I was to buy this truck, would I just be putting more money into it than what its worth. In better terms, if I buy it for $1,500 will I end up paying $4,000 to fix it? The real reason on why I want to buy this truck is because I need like a tear up truck, go hunting in, fishing, etc. Would it be worth buying this? Does anybody know whats wrong with it? Also what are some good mods to put on it to make it faster and have more power?
- the 6.2 is a very dependable motor, lots of low end torque and it will run forever. The usual problem with them is the injection pump. In your case I would look at compression on the left bank. If its smoking its getting fuel and not igniting it, and since its a diesel the most likely cause is no compression. I would replace the tired 6.2 with the 6.5 turbo engine. It will be an easy swap and will bolt right in as the 6.2 and 6.5 share the same block. I have done that conversion several times. Like I always tell my customers, if you want to go fast buy a gas motor, if you want to climb straight up a wall while pulling a trailer buy a diesel.
- Q: A)to print and coin moneyB)the collection of taxesC)to provide and maintain a navyD)to establish national speed limits
- D. to establish national speed limits Implied Powers - These are powers that are NOT specifically delegated in the Constitution, but are understood to be necessary or allowed. The elastic clause or necessary and proper clause allows these by stating that Congress has the power to make all laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into execution the foregoing powers (art. I, sec. 8). Examples include: Hamilton's creation of the National Bank - no power to create banks is delegated the Federal Government, however it was deemed necessary and proper to form a bank to aid in Congress's power to coin money and regulate the economy. (see McCullough vs. Maryland 1819) Regulation of Railroads, Shipping, Highways - Congress is delegated the power to regulate interstate trade and as such it is implied that Congress also has the power to regulate interstate transportation by which interstate trade is made possible. (see Gibbons vs. Ogden 1824)
