Q: If I give someone power of attorney to my banking and other financial institutions, can I specify what accounts that person has access to. I only want my power of attorney to have access to certain bank accounts, not all of my bank accounts. Is there any way to do that?
Absolutely. You should never give someone an open, unrestricted power of attorney. The power of attorney should specifically list what accounts and what kinds of things you are permitting the person to do.
Q: How was George Washington the first president to violate the idea of a federal government confining itself to the constitution's enumerated powers?
An example of Washington using the power of the Executive Branch for something that was specifically not enumerated in the Constitution, was his signing of the Bank of the United States bill proposed by Hamilton and passed by Congress but objected to by Jefferson. Jefferson said the BUS was not authorized by the Constitution. Washington agreed but sided with Hamilton's argument in favor of the BUS. Hamilton said nothing in the Constitution prohibited the creation of the BUS. Since the Congress could collect taxes, it was reasonable to assume that it could create a bank to hold those taxes and act as a bank for the government.
Q: what are powers share by the state & federal government?
Powers Shared by National and State Government ?Setting up courts ?Creating and collecting taxes ?Building highways ?Borrowing money ?Making and enforcing laws ?Chartering banks and corporations ?Spending money for the betterment of the general welfare ?Taking (condemning) private property with just compensation
Q: Banks are out of control, I think we can all agree on that. But should The Fed be given more power to regulate them?If not, what are the alternatives?
Not sure if the Fed should be given this duty. From everything that happened with the financial meltdown there is no doubt stronger regulation is needed. A lot of finance companies that were making the bad subprime loans, didn't fall under federal regulations. Then many of the state regulators never regulated these companies. Possibly a new federal agency over all banking. Some may feel that doing so would give the government to much power. We need to quit living in the red scare days.
Q: I have heard that Generators have dirty power. Can't be used for Electronics. TVs, Computers and the like. How can I eliminate this problem, I live in a place that I will run a generator (5Kw) for my hole house.
A hole house is an interesting concept, but do you feel like you are in a rut? LOL. Seriously, There are several devices that can level power and clean it up. Battery banks are good and consistent, and would probably produce the cleanest source. A line leveler is the most common device. Some manufacturers of Generators have these built into the generator. Check with your manufacturer. (Onan is good)
Q: Aren't they giving the corporations and banks more power by giving the government more power? And then they want the corporate controlled government to create more regulations that will shut down small business so big business doesn't have to worry about competition.
The US consistently ranks as among the most corruption free democracies in the world. However, in public opinion polls of how citizens see the corruption level of their govt, the US consistently ranks quite lowmeaning we tend to think of our govt as corrupt even when it is not, whereas most other nationsincluding the really corrupt onestend to have the opposite perspective. If you want to know who has the power in our govt, just follow the money. The largest drivers of spending are entitlements. Programs aimed at the poor. Defense certainly is a large component as well, but it's growth rate is fairly flat and those entitlements are growingexponentially in some cases. It is the poor who wield the power. The notion that a minority of wealthy power brokers runs things is a great Hollywood story, but it is untrue. The money flows show that it is the poor who run the govt. They pay negative taxes with the EITC, and receive substantial direct payments and support. And many regulations are aimed exclusively at their benefit at the expense of everyone else. Perhaps you think that is how it should be? So be it. But let's not continue the fairy tale that rich cigar smoking white dudes gather in shrouded rooms to control the govt. If such a fairy tale were true, the spending would reflect it. The taxation would be regressive, not one of the most steeply progressive in the world.
Q: I have a tenant renting a room in my house who is dying from liver disease. He is really old and he wants his son to have power of attorney for his bank account. His son is in the military and cannot leave base to come home to sign the form at the old man's bank. What should we do now to get this power of attorney form filled out? Thank you for your time.
Ask the bank for their own POA form, have the tenant sign it in front of (probably 2) witnesses. Ask the bank if they need it notarized. The son doesn't need to sign the POA, but the tenant needs to sign a POA form the bank will accept. It's the TENANT's POA, not the son's. The tenant is giving power TO the son. So only the tenant's signature is needed. It would be simpler to ask the bank if the tenant can add the son to the account. That kind of thing can usually be done thru the mail (signature cards). I did this with my dad, out-of-state. I never went to his bank, but signed the cards and sent them back. In fact, I'm listed on one bank account that I never signed anything for.
Q: I have power of attorney that a friend gave me. I'd like to know, if he has bank books that have his name in them and in trust for someone, would would get to have access to the money; power of attorney or in trust for?
a power of attorney has limits, all depends what you have power of attorney over. some power of attorney papers allow you to have financial access, can make medical decisions, there may be only specific things the power of attorney applies to. read it and see what it says.
Q: another way to increase power factor without using capacitor bank?
Capacitive Load
Q: I don't have Id for him I do have the Limited Power of Attorny nortiarize. He is currently in jail for next two years.
Just have him sign the check, then you sign beneath his signature and deposit into your account.
