Q: whats the best way to remove it??? Put it on bathroom tiles but it is all chipping off and doesnt look pretty
if you painted right over ceramic tile it should come off with a razor blade scraper -- if the paint is in the grout you may never get it off there-- not sure what type of paint you used -- some oil paints can be removed with laquer thinner or paint thinner ---
Q: I am looking for an obsolete 8X8 ceramic tile I believe was made by Interceramic. It‘s described on my original sales slip from 1999 as IC WestPalm Surf It‘s solid white in color and has a slight pebble texture. I need to modify my kitchen some and don‘t want to tear up the entire floor to install new type tile. Any ideas how to find this tile if there‘s any left out there.
IC did away with the 8x8 tile about 8 to 10 years ago .. They revamped there line to a 10 and 13 inch tile..10 didn t last long at all..Soon the did away with most all the red bodied tile.. So please don t even bother trying.. You will have to do something else , like a border and or accents. There were reclamation places that bought up old lots of tile but none that I know about now.. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar.. GL
Q: my boss wants to remove floor tiles and stain the cement floor underneath the tile, what is a easy way to remove the old tile
well the fastest way is to rent a vibrating floor stripping machine half day will cost the company about 45 dollars. if you have a rental place near by. the vinyl tile can be set pretty good in places. then if you have a low speed buffer mop a coat of water on the floor and use a screen for the bottom of it (it looks like expanded metal. along with the water it will take the glue right up. i would recommend not using solvents expecially if ventalation is an issue. the rental store can fix you up with 1 of the screens. if for some reason you cant find the screens a course floor pad will work but not as well good luck :0)
Q: I am redoing my bathroom floor and I am going to use stick on tiles how do I put them on? Do you just stick them on the
For your best adhesion. its best to start out with a clean wood sub floor. Depending on what is down now, its best to put a new luan sub floor. These you can sometimes go over whats there now and sometimes its best to rip out and start new. Always start from the middle and work to the out side. But if your tile lays out to less than a 1/2 tile, move the tile over the center line by a 1/2 tile. Now MOST peel n stick are directional so they must be layed all in one direction.. This is personal preference, but I like to have a whole tile at the doorway and what ends up in back is the way it is unless its a real small pc. Dry lay out the tiles to see what you like.. Any flooring questions you can e mail me thru my avatar.. GL
Q: How I can install ceramic tile on a wall and what tools do I need to do so? Any other tip that I should know about it to do a good job would be appreciated.
I've been working construction with my father since I was 5. You will need, the little plastic x's that are spacers, compound, tiles (obviously), water a sponge and optional a straight line lazer, a spatula and a long spatula with teeth, and a tile cutter, and measuring tape. First, put up the lazer to form the straight line where you want it. Next mix the compound with the amount of water you need, read the instructions on the back. Apply the mixture to the wall with the spatula, next put up the tile and if needed measure and cut the tiles to how you need them in order to fit. use the plastic x's as spacers to have them equally spaced out. after you have put up all the tiles wait at least 30 minutes to an hour for the compound to dry then with the grout of your choice apply it to the tiles and get them in between the cracks good. let it dry and then with the sponge wet it and clean the tiles so that it looks nice and thats all.
Q: Is polished tiles and tiles a thing?
Polished tiles are a kind of tiles. Tiles include, polished tiles, glazed tiles, tiles, antique tiles and so on. Polished tiles, then I suggest doing surface protection treatment (generally not recommended waxing), because the polished brick pores are relatively thick, it is easy to dirty. Details can visit our website.
Q: ive never tiled anything before. i was thinking of replacing our old tiles around the fireplace and puttnig in slate ones. i am wondering if its a bigger project than it seems. will i have to remove the mantle to do it. is it harder to tile something on the wall or fireplace than the floor? should i just seek a professional or is it easy?thanks
I don't know about horrible but certainly impractical; unless the fireplace is merely decorative; or an electric one. TILE is usually fired at approx. 2000 degrees; essentially creating glass. It's highly unlikely you'd ever have a fireplace fire get that hot...Hopefully. The issue is more that constant stress on the tile in heating and cooling; and the effect on any mortar you choose. Beyond that is the issue of the tile being hidden most often; and the need to clean it often to be able to view it when no fire is present. Fireplaces are crafted using Brick, that allows no such effects from temp variations, and offers some level of insulation against the heat produced within the confines of the fireplace. Certainly you might consider tiling a hearth; or creating a hearth that you can tile; but it seems a bit defeating to tile into a fireplace. Tile; especially floor type; are created through different heat ranges and substances; to be graded in durability. Assume something like A being the least durable, and D being the most durable. That equates to normal traffic and wear. I'll assume someone will tell you; Sure; there are heat resistant tiles and mortars but I'll go back to my notion of the aesthetics and ask why bother? Q: My home decoration just finished tiles to clean up the tiles when there is a cement with a damp cloth has been wiped out how to do? (My family to buy all the tiles) Will you have nothing to hurt the tile method can be removed? Thank you!
Cement is alkaline, generally removed with acidic substances. Oxalic acid may not be acidic enough. Pour some vinegar up the effect will be better. Industrial hydrochloric acid can also be used after dilution, but to prevent corrosion of the tile itself. To try it a little bit. If hydrogen peroxide is not used, it is recommended to use stone-specific products, such as strong concentrated cleaning agent, PH value of 10.5 or so. This product can decompose the organic matter on the surface of the stone pollution, and can remove the surface type protective agent. If necessary, the cleaning agent can be mixed with the decontamination powder, which can extend the reaction time of the compound and adsorb the stain to the paste. Before using the compound, first test a small area inconspicuous, such as the corner, and to ensure that the stone surface will not be covered with dark flower marks. Clear the slight scratch operation is relatively simple, the market has a lot of polishing powder for sale. However, the use of polishing powder, most of the need to use a polishing machine or a single rub machine.
Q: Is laying the self stick tile good for a kitchen
From personal experience, I don't reccomend them in ANY room. If one tile gets chipped or cracked, any little bit of water gets under it, your doomed!
