- First, I'd recommend making sure that the wood flooring is secure with no loose spots. Then you may need to strip any finish off it in insure good adhesion. Finally, you'll need to make sure you have a good tile cement and use a proper tile trowel to apply the cement. It will put grooves in the cement that will help with adhesion. If you go to Home Depot or Lowes, they can probably give you pointers. They also have classes sometimes, including putting down tile. Good luck.

It seems that if they were nailed down, the installer would risk the chance of cracking, or shattering the tile..Is there some type of nail set that prohibits driving the fastener too far into the pieces? - here in the uk we dont use shingles ..not man enough to last ..so we have clay . ncrete ..and terra cotta roof tiles ...no point in putting on a roof covering unless it gonna last at least 100 years ..out roof tiles have hooks at top that sit behind the tile lathe ...most tiles are not actually nailed ..most are every 3 or 5 rows ..i have worked on dozens of roofs where not one was nailed ..the roof angles and tile weight prevent them from moving ..we fix with either galvanised or copper nails

- The material between the tiles is called grout. You will want to use unsanded grout. First clean the tiles very well, mix the grout with water to a paste like consistancy. You can also buy premixed grout, but more expensive. Use a rubber grout trowel to force this paste in between the tiles, holding the trowel at a 45 degree angle. Let dry for a few hours, and then use a damp sponge to wipe off the surface of the tiles. Finally, seal the grout lines with a grout sealer. Actually, this is an easy job for a DIYer. The white stuff that seals the tub to the wall is called silicone sealant. First remove the old silicone, and then clean the area. Then clean it again, and then clean it again, and finally, wipe down the area with rubbing alcohol. Did I mention you should clean the area? Silicone does not seal well to any greasy area.
