- Q:I‘m looking to re-tile my kitchen... I would like to get good quality tile, at a good price. Can I trust tile purchased at any particular large hardware chain, or should I seek out a specialty flooring store? Or does it even matter that much - is tile just tile?
- Ceramic tile is the same where ever you choose to buy it.If you see the boxes in home depot, some are from the Dal tile company, one of the largest in the US.I am a ceramic tile artist and I buy direct from Dal warehouse for one reason,a bigger selection than what home depot carries. If your not looking for an unusual color, most likely home depot has the same stuff there for cheaper.
- Q:What is all porcelain called semi-tiles
- The water is certainly not in the top of the tile there is a hot extension to the warmth, although the semi-porcelain heating rate is higher, but definitely not to say that in the warm with semi-porcelain will produce problems that can be ignored in other words As long as the quality of ceramic tiles for their own home enough to wear the same degree of wear is no difference,
- Q:Recently want to decorate the house, in addition to the location of the two bedrooms have to shop porcelain, ask the tiles below can be installed to warm it? Will the heating effect be discounted? Can you install the bathroom in the bedroom and warm in another room? How much will the ground increase after loading Thank you first!
- It is best not to install. Because the ceramic is insulated, if installed, it may affect the heating effect. Recommended to install heating, and is plumbing, if it is warm, the indoor easy to dry, I wish you a beautiful house decoration.
- Q:I had new stone tile laid in my bathroom. 18 x 18 pieces, diagonally laid. One piece by the edge must have been stepped on by one of the tile layers as they were leaving and it got pushed down, so it‘s not level with the rest of the tiles by a small fraction. Its not noticeable if you walk on it with shoes, but if you walk on it barefoot or if you get down and feel it with your hands, there is clearly a noticeable difference. The flooring company refuses to come back and fix it claiming I did it. The piece is on the edge butting up against carpet from the bedroom. Is there any way I can make this tile level myself to avoid the hassle of trying to sue or file complaints against the flooring company? Maybe cut out that one piece without damaging and just put a new layer of the cement underneath it? I don‘t know. I‘ve never done tiling before.
- I assume it's ceramic tiles, not vinyl? It's probably the wood subfloor or wood tile underlayment, you can use some wood screws underneath the floor to tighten the plywood to the floor joists. Of course, that might mean opening up the ceiling below, but that's probably easier to patch than the tile floor. Or, you remove some of the tile grout, and screw into the joist from above, then re-grout. That could be tricky- you need to know exactly where the floor joists are.
- Q:I‘m thinking about having a bathroom tiled. The bathroom is about 6 by 8 and right now the walls have a horrible pink and black alternating ceramic tile that goes up about 4 feet on the wall all the way around. All I want to do is replace this tile with a glass tile. I have no idea what the cost would be for materials and labor so any estimates would be appreciated. This is the only work I need done.
- In UK ?10/m2 + cuts for labour only is a fair price and you supply everything for the job!
- Q:Looking to install ceramic tile over concrete basement slab, 12x12 or 13x13 tiles. Main question is how perfectly level/flat does the concrete need to be. If I put a tile down and there is some minor rocking is that no good or will the thinset adhesive take care of that.
- Any rocking means the tile is hitting either a high spot or there is a low spot. Low spots can be dealt with the thin set. As long as its less than a 1/4. High spots usually needs to be ground down flat. So to answer your question , for ease of installation and the prevention of cracked tiles at a later date, floors need to be as flat as possible. If you have minor rocking with no thin set down, in some cases a larger sized trowel will do the trick. Each case is different and has to be dealt with differently. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
- Q:I live in a condo. The previous owner had off-white ceramic tile installed on the entire first level! I don‘t like it - can it be covered with hardwood or does all the tile need to come up? Thanks
- This Site Might Help You. RE: can wood flooring be installed over ceramic tile? I live in a condo. The previous owner had off-white ceramic tile installed on the entire first level! I don‘t like it - can it be covered with hardwood or does all the tile need to come up? Thanks
- Q:We currently have vinly tile in our tiny kitchen. We want to upgrade but want something that looks nice and is easy to install. What would you recommend (not wood)? Also, would we have to take up the vinyl floor tiles or install on top of it?
- I once had a laminate flooring installed in my kitchen. It was about 16 square and looked like terra cotta tile. It was shaded where the grout was printed on the laminate. So, it looked like real tile. When they installed it, they didn't remove any of the old flooring. They just lay a sheet of thin foam rubber backing and installed the laminate squares (they had a tongue-and-groove interlocking). It came out great and cost about $6 a square foot installed. But, it's easy enough to do yourself. A friend of mine does tile and couldn't believe it wasn't real tile (he had to actually feel it to prove it to himself).
- Q:I need to put a 4 inch hole in a 16 inch ceramic tile.
- Drill many small holes in a circular pattern. Remember on the cartoons where a person uses a machine gun to cut a door in a wall? You can do the same with a small ceramic drill bit. Use a dremel tool to 'file' the edges smooth
