Q: hi i live in a upstairs flat, and i want to tile my hall with ceramic tiles,i did a square 4 foot patch to see if the tile would stick or would come loose, well they did come loose,so how do i prepare floorboards for tiling over so the grout wont crack when i walk on the floor thanks
Sorry John, definite no-no. Remove the hardwood, put down either Hardibacker or Durock, then tile. If you try to lay tile directly over hardwood, it doesn't matter what prep work, type of mortar, it is destined for failure. Hardwood is not dimensionally stable for a tile substrate.
Q: Can u burn tiles?
You can but it produces a smelly black smoke so you might check with your local fire dept for local laws and possible burn bans.
Q: I redid my floor in november using the sticky tiles I purchased from Family Dollar. I wanted to take the tiles off. Is there a easy way to do this without spending lots of money?
The previous owner of our house, unfortunately, tried to renovate and improve the recently refinished and refurbished original clear-vertical-grain fir floors by sticking self-adhesive vinyl tiles to them to create area rugs of faux parquet and faux marble. After scraping, heating, and using a variety of solvents, I hit upon this far easier and relatively non-toxic method: dry ice. Remove these adsRemove these ads by Signing Up
Q: I am looking at removing the existing wooden fire place surround (not a mantel, but some decorative wood surrounding the fireplace), and the 70‘s fireplace hearth, and replacing each with some nice slate tiles. The slate would be attached to the wall, and to the floor. Is there anything I should know when attaching (slate) tiles to a wall? Do I need to remove any paint, or can I get an adhesive that will bond (PL Premium or regular mortar mix?). How close should the grout lines be with slate? I know with marble you want them close, and with ceramic you can have some space. How do you ensure the tiles don‘t slip when attached to a vertical wall. Sorry for the questions, but I do appreciate any suggestions and answers!
you like a damp tile observed. they are in a position to be bought for approx $a hundred and fifty.00. i grow to be going to lease one (which could have been a expert style) even though it took me way better than sooner or later to diminish all the tiles, so i bought it. Works great and characteristic tiled 2 different rooms considering then.
Q: I would like to redo my entire house in ceramic tile floors but money is tight. I‘m planning to do the entire thing with leftovers I can get from other people who have finished their own tile projects. Is it possible ot use wall tiles on the floor for small areas? Are wall tiles able to withstand the pressure of walking? Any advice?
just tell where you live and we all can visit you in hospital ..are you mad ?..do you want to throw money away ?..it will be like a skating rink ..you wont be able to stand up!...please ..go and have a lay down ..you will probably feel better tomorrow
Q: if there are 24 square tiles in a box and there are enough to cover 3 square feet, how big are the tiles?
24 tiles/3 sq ft =8 tiles per square foot. Since 8 is not a square, there is no solution, or the tiles cannot be square.
Q: I just remodeled a home and I am having a hard time cleaning the newly istalled tile. I mop and mop but the tile still looks dirty. I guess its all the powder and sand that was created by the remodeling. Am I supposed to use some type of acid or buffer?
That happened to the tile in my utility room also. I am going to try the muriatic acid Good Luck to you also Nesssssssssst
Q: My wall tiles has been for more than 20yrs owned by first owner. Due to limited budget,i have not replaced them when i bought over as 2nd owner, but have done a coat of spray paint on it thru contractor, Now after 5 yrs, some of these spray paint are coming off, any suggestion what i can do , i do not want to hack the wall and replace new wall tiles very costly, someone suggest buying bathroom tiles stickers on those tiles with paint coming off.. anyone with better suggestion on DIY ..plse help---
Just repaint, or color match the existing paint and touch up the bad areas.
Q: Which is good for acid resistant tiles
It is widely used in petrochemical, metallurgy, electric power, chemical fiber, paper making, pharmaceutical, fertilizer, food, dairy industry, fruit juice, electroplating, electroplating, and so on. As well as towers, tanks, tanks, tanks and other anti-corrosion works, and in the underground sewage and open air and other workplaces have played an important role.
Q: what tiles would be better to install kitchen? sometimes I get some information on the internet. My friends saw some beautiful pitcures about floors online.
Almost any kind or tiles will work excellent for a residential kitchen floor. Porcelain, ceramic work fine. The proper installation is the most important thing . I would stay away from stones on the floor in a kitchen. Harder to maintain but they are beautiful in less foot traffic areas. Any type tile with a multi colored look helps hides day to day dirt and looks better between sweeping. There are a multitude of stone looking ceramics and porcelains. That the way I suggest.
