- Q: My house is 50 years old and is lacking in insulation in the garage ceiling. Above the garage are bedrooms. Currently there is 3 of fiberglass with an aluminum vapor barrier within a 2x10 joist. I'd like to put R-30 fiberglass in the cavities but the 25' rolls of insulation are unfaced and the faced R-30 rolls are only in 48 batts. 4' sections are easier to put up but that is not a concern of mine.
- Don't use a plastic sheet, use 15# asphalt impregnated felt or a fabric like Tyvek. The vapor barrier must be able to breathe or you run the risk of trapping dampness which will lead to mold.
- Q: The table cloth is a transparent plastic sheet. Is there any easy way to remove candle wax that fell on it?
- i'm not sure about removing but i know a way of prevent it by apply some olive oil or vaseline between the candles and the table or your plastic sheets.
- Q: Does anyone have any suggestions?
- I like the two sided tape idea, and hate declawing a cat. Some chicken wire over the couch while you are not using it will protect it, but you have to carefully loop all the wire ends so they do not snag the couch. I am using oven racks on the benches outside to keep the cats off them. Window screens, anything that will catch their claws stop them. Get a scratching post or one of those cardboard scratching pads with catnip scent in it. I am not a cat person, but I love animals, really hate to see any cat declawed, as if it does get out or goes out, it cannot defend itself. Our little dog tore up a declawed cat, and I felt horrible about it. I did not know it had been declawed or I'd have reached in and pulled it away from the dog.
- Q: Can plastic sheets be used for bulletproof applications?
- Yes, plastic sheets can be used for bulletproof applications. Specially designed plastic materials, such as polycarbonate or polyethylene, can offer effective bullet resistance while being lightweight and flexible. These materials can be used to make bulletproof windows, shields, and body armor.
- Q: Can plastic sheets be thermoformed?
- Yes, plastic sheets can be thermoformed. Thermoforming is a manufacturing process where plastic sheets are heated and then molded into various shapes and forms using a combination of vacuum pressure and/or mechanical force.
- Q: Are plastic sheets resistant to impact from hail or debris?
- Yes, plastic sheets are generally resistant to impact from hail or debris.
- Q: Are plastic sheets resistant to warping or sagging under heavy loads?
- Yes, plastic sheets are generally resistant to warping or sagging under heavy loads. They have good structural integrity and can withstand significant weight without deforming.
- Q: Can plastic sheets be used for greenhouse siding?
- Yes, plastic sheets can be used for greenhouse siding. They are a common and cost-effective material choice for greenhouse construction, as they provide insulation, allow sunlight to pass through, and are durable enough to withstand outdoor conditions.
- Q: Do plastic sheets have any insulating properties?
- Yes, plastic sheets can have insulating properties. The insulation ability depends on the type of plastic used and its thickness. Some plastic sheets, such as expanded polystyrene (EPS) or polyethylene foam, are specifically designed for insulation purposes and can effectively reduce heat transfer.
- Q: I would like to put some plastic sheets on the windows of my apartment, preferably on the inside since I live on a high rise and can't reach the exterior. I've seen these plastic sheets that you can put on that partially block (or make hazy) how much you can see inside (especially at night when things are dark outside and the lights on on inside). What are they called and does anyone know where I can get them (preferably online)? Thanks!
- I do the same thing but with Saran wrap. Using rolls of tape to seal it completely. Works great.
