Q: Does anyone have any suggestions?: When my cat had this problem, I tried using a special two sided tape (for pets of course). It worked like a charm- every time she went to go scratch the couch, she hated the feeling of her paws getting all stuck to the tape. She stopped scratching in no time! Although I do suggest getting a scratching post of some kind since cats do need to scratch things in order to wear down their nails, and keep them sharp. The nice thing about this pet 2-sided tape is that when your cat is thoroughly trained not to scratch the couch, you can easily remove it without any damage being done to your couch. Use shortening or butter to grease the pan and then put about 1-2 tablespoons of flour in the pan and shake it to coat the pan with flour. This is the traditional way of keep a cake from sticking to a pan.

Any other ideas?Thanks: It's going to come down to Durability and Sound. If you live in a salt free environment (more than 100+ miles from the Oceans or Gulf) then either will last 15-20+years. If you live in FL or CA then I'd go with the PVC. Sound is the other thing. Rain on tin is louder than on the PVC. (I prefer the tin because of the pitch of the sound it is relaxing to me. The shop where your going to buy may let you take two sheets and hit them with a hose to hear the differences.
