- Q: Can plastic sheets be used for window insulation?

- Q: the upper plastic sheet is bendable and the lower sheet is rigid. I need some type of glue that I could brush on easily to stick them together.. Since I may need alot of that glue, are there cheaper options for me?
- A spray adhesive will be your best bet. It will be the fastest and easiest and most cost effective considering the large quantity of items that you will be gluing. You will need an empty box to be your spray box so that you have a space to confine the over spray, and news papers to place in the bottom, enough to have on hand to put down on top of each other as a new clean surface after doing a few. I can suggest a brand called Super 77 Spray Adhesive or Elmer's Spray Adhesive. ***The Elmer's costs way less than the Super 77 (the Supper 77 is industrial strength stuff) Spray adhesives can be purchased at any home improvement stores, hardware stores, craft hobby stores as well as Walmart. I use spray adhesive all the time on a multitude of home crafting projects and it works on just about all surfaces. The only thing that it will do harm to is certain kinds of styrofoam, it will sometimes chemically melt that. But plastic surfaces will be just fine. I hope this helps you with your project! - Q: Is there a glue that can seal/bond 2 thin (about 30 microns or less) sheets of plastic together, the same EXACT way that they would seal/bond if the same 2 sheets were heat sealed? (kinda like those food vacuum sealers)
- I have the same problem. I have tried melting some of the plastic and pressing it between the sheets. This only seemed to melts the sheets also. I have used Gorrilla Glue, Silicone, Super Glue and Epoxy and have had no luck. Double sided tap sorta worked but it takes a ton of it. So far the best thing I have found is just using Duct tape. It's ugly and falls off in the heat of the summer but does work temporarily. I will definitely buy an iron and try that. That seems like the best idea yet. I did visit an adhessive manufacturers website and they say there is nothing invented yet that bonds sheeting together permanently. I find this hard to believe. I have used a vacumme sealer for freezer bags and it works wonderfully on really thin plastic but the thicker sheeting I need and it has no affect on that.
- Q: There is extreme wetness near the base of the walls 1 perticurally to the south and west and one to the north and west sides. I have had the attic ventilation balanced and it has gotten a little better. I also forgot that there is tyvek on the exterior and the cedar siding is curving toward the outside. I had the worst of it (siding) replaced this summer. The heat registers have just been replaced because they were rotted. I am replacing a sliding door for the same reason. I am also trying to replace some windows that may be leaking air. Thank you
