Q: making a hard plastic cover for my poker table. Home depot wants like 120 bucks for a sheet!! Anyone know of anywhere cheaper?
www.okorder / ... $30 Go to fabric store to get clear plastic that old ladies put on their dining room tables.
Q: With what glue can you stick glass and plastic board firmly?
Do not use a large amount of mixed glue at a time. Keep it well ventilated. There is an odor of acrylic in the glue. Do not leave it in the mouth. Do not allow children to contact, use the glue cap, not wrong.
Q: Put some drops of water on a glass or plastic sheet. After evaporation we seesome white spots like dust over?
These are dissolved salts ( other impurities) that remain behind when the water evaporates.
Q: We are doing a classroom simulation and want to build a space shuttle out of PVC pipe and connectors, and black and white plastic sheeting. The students sit inside at the controls. I have seen mockups made from 2 liter pop bottles but this is not that. I saw one at the science teachers convention in San Diego in 2002 but cannot seem to find the directions on how to build my own.
Your students could probably come up with some great ideas, no matter their age. They will learn more if they design the shuttle. Start them out in groups of 2 or 3 and have them brainstorm ideas (give them the rules for brainstorming). They then select the best ideas and make some simple sketches of how it can work. Them have them bring practice material from home to make a scale prototype. Use the best prototype to create your full size shuttle. Yes - I know this takes more time but they will be developing critical thinking and problem solving skills. Each additional project becomes easier for them as they build their skills. As the teacher you become the facilitator - guiding them through the project. Number1 rule for you is to NEVER NEVER answer their questions. Make them actually think. Ask them, what do you think, where could you look to find the answer, have you tried to ......
Q: The sheets are labeled top and Bottom. Does that mean the top would go nearest the keys, or as I'm looking at it from the back?
I'm assuming it's the crumb barrier... the clear plastic between the keys and actual mechanics of the keyboard. It should only fit one way. If top doesn't fit at the top, put top at the bottom. If it fits both ways then it doesn't really matter.
Q: I found the perfect thickness of plastic Delrin in my garage but it's already shaped in an exact circle. The Diameter is 4 inches which is fine because I need 3.89 inch diameter in the pieces I'm cutting. I have approx. 75.3 inches of length of the delrin. Each of the pieces is really thin that I'm creating a mear .03125 inches. I need 324 pieces and a couple to spare wouldn't hurt. Does anyone know how to calculate this or is there a calculator that does this?
Confusing question, but I think I understand what you need. There are yield calculators out there on the internet, but I will do the math for you. You would get 327 pieces of 4 diameter discs that are .03125 thick. The reason it wouldn't be more is that the saw blade will eat up material in between each cut (about .2 per cut) Just so you know, this job will be VERY difficult to do, so make sure you have proper machinery or take it to a professional. Good luck!
Q: Are plastic sheets chemical resistant?
Yes, plastic sheets can be chemical resistant. The level of resistance depends on the type of plastic used and the specific chemicals they are exposed to. Some plastics, like PVC, acrylic, and polycarbonate, have good chemical resistance properties, making them suitable for various applications where exposure to chemicals is a concern. However, it is important to consider the specific chemical and consult the manufacturer's specifications to ensure the plastic sheet's compatibility and resistance to a particular chemical.
Q: ex. 10 ml black plastic
All static electricity is excessive electrons trapped in the material. The most common occurance in nature is lightning where excessive electrons are trapped in the clouds until it cannot hold any more and discharges it to earth ground. In the same way, to remove static electricity from plastic is to use a sheet of aluminum foil laid underneath the plastic and connect a wire from the aluminum foil to earth ground. Just drive a metal rod about a foot into the ground and connect the wire from the aluminum foil. Sometimes just simply spreading the plastic sheeting on the lawn (need not be wet) will discharge the static electricity through the moisture in the grass.
Q: Are plastic sheets suitable for DIY greenhouse construction?
Yes, plastic sheets are suitable for DIY greenhouse construction. They are lightweight, affordable, and provide excellent insulation and transparency for sunlight. Additionally, they are easy to work with and can be cut to fit any desired shape or size.
Q: I need just a few sheets of ABS plastic sheet, about 12X50is there anywhere that sells this for under $50?
You can buy a huge amount of plastic sheeting for very little money at any building supply place there is. Sometimes they sell it in precut rolls, sometimes you can buy it by the foot, especially in the heavier grades which will be more suitable for building something out of. That kind of plastic isn't clear, though, it's kind of cloudy to look through. You might want to check out clear vinyl at a fabric store. They sell that for using as tablecloths, and you can buy as little as half a yard. If you want to see the snakes easily, that might be a good choice for the front. It's pretty tough. If you want or need tape that will stick nicely to plastic, look for the red plastic tape used for vapour barrier in a house. It's not cheap and it's not pretty, but it's about the only tape that will really really stick to plastic. Pretty much all the others will eventually let go. Another possibility for something easy to see through is the stuff they sell for putting on windows to insulate them. It goes on with sticky stuff along the edges, the plastic gets stuck to it, then you shrink it tight with a hairdryer. It's extremely clear, tougher than it looks, you can stab it with a finger and it should be fine, but it will puncture with anything sharp. Cat's claws, for instance, did mine in when the cat swiped at a moth. You also have to be sure that you have a good clean smooth surface for the sticky stuff, or it will pull away as the plastic shrinks with the heat.
