- Q: I have a zippo lighter that I have had for about a year, and the wick is getting black flint dust on it causing the lighter not to light. What should I do?
- My dad has had a Zippo lighter for EVER!! It doesnt sound like the wick is the problem. Dad's has been black like that for as long as I remember. We are all so used to disposable lighters, I'm wondering if maybe your flint has run out and you dont realize it. The flint is a little red peg that sits under the wheel. I know you can buy the flint at most stores, but I bet someone in a liquor store could even help you replace it. And I think that Zippo lighters have a lifetime guarantee.
