Q: It will be in my room on the second floor. I am building it myself, as well as the stand. Will it come crashing through the floor of my house?
Reign is right! Just watch where you place it! But overall you should be fine remember that a gallon of water is 8 pounds so do the math and add the weight of the tank and the weight if everything else you will have in there and your prolly looking at around 1300 pounds! Which if set at a place where there is a load bearing wall will be totally fine! Hope this helps! Merry christmas!
Q: I've looked at other answers and I think I need this explained in blonde language. Is there supposed to be an actual floor underneath a bathtub? Me and my fiancée have a place but the floor underneath the tub is nonexistant. Its basically a hole there. We live on the 2nd floor Tips and help would be great!
Don't sell yourself and blondes short. I hope there isn't a tub over the hole. If there is, I would also make the tub nonexistent at this point, for safety reasons. Water weighs 62.5 pounds per cubic foot. A full bathtub can weigh over 560 pounds from just the water in it (not including the tub and the occupant). The weight on the floor below can come close to 1000 pounds. This weight requires some very sturdy flooring underneath a tub. Often, builders will sister (run two joists side by side, attached to each other) joists running under a tub just to give additional strength. A hole in the floor does not sound encouraging at all. Since I'm not there with you, I can't see the hole and accurately judge exactly what condition your floor is in. Usually, holes under bathtubs are caused by water damage from a cracked tub, leaking drain, diverter, or supply plumbing. Whatever the source, the cause is almost always water damage. If you are renting, I would bring this to the attention of the landlord IMMEDIATELY. This is a serious safety issue. If he shrugs you off, remind him that if you drop in on your neighbor while bathing, he will face a lawsuit that will make fixing the floor seem like buying a pack of gum. If this is your place, get it fixed--NOW! Talk with a licensed framer about the problem. He is probably the best one for the money to address the issue.
Q: I am installing laminate floors for the first time and I had a question. We ripped out the carpet and their was wood along the trim with nails sticking up whice I assume was used to hold the carpet in place. I am pretty sure that I have to remove that before installing laminate, but I just wanted to make sure. Thank you
Those are called tack boards for installing wall to wall carpet. Yes remove them and any nails that you find. Make sure you get all the staples too. You wouldn't want to ruin the new floor your putting down
Q: Thinking of getting cork flooring for my finished basement, time for an update, anyone have this? Are there pros and cons you've experienced? Thanks!
i like cork flooring! My grandfather put in cork in between the rooms in his homestead in 1953 and it nonetheless looks large at present. listed right here are the specialists of cork flooring: a million. Cork is eco-friendly, moisture resistant and of direction hypoallergenic 2. this is organic honeycomb shape can provide a organic cushion so this is large for people who've joint issues or have problem status on hard surfaces 3. Cork is presented in planks, tiles and mosaic tiles with quite a few various textures and hues leaving infinite development and layout possibilities. 4. Cork flooring may be accomplished as a DIY setting up challenge 5. Cork flooring can final many some years 6. may be put in over radiant warmth equipment (if authorized via producer) 7. Cork is a organic noise insulator (why this is used many times as an underlayment) 8. risk-free flooring for infants 8. basic to bathe and look after listed right here are the CONS of cork flooring: a million. it may no longer stand up to heavy foot site visitors 2. Heavy furnishings might reason indentation marks (use felt protectors) 3. might require refinishing each and every few years (some cork finishes do no longer require this) i might say there are extra specialists than cons with cork flooring. Cork is gaining further and further recognition because of its green residences as properly because of the fact certainly now available in extra hues and kinds. I say decide for it! this is lasted very nearly 60 years in my grandfather's homestead!
Q: I am remodeling my kitchen and it has an industrial tile on the floor now (similiar to school flooring). I would like to put ceramic tile in its place. is it okay to lay the ceramic right over top if the floor is in good condition? or do i have to remove the laminate before placing the ceramic?
NO!!!! you gotta take up he laminate AND you gotta prep the floor before you lay the ceramic. I JUST did this in my bathroom.
Q: what steps are needed to correctly install a linoleum floor
It all depends on how you want to put it down. It is very important to have a smooth sub-floor as most surfaces will transfer any imperfections to the new floor i.e. bumps, dirt, and even patterns from previous flooring. You can either do a floating floor, where you just lay it down. Then there is a full spread glue down, where you glue the entire surface of the floor down. finally, there is just doing a perimeter glue down where you just glue down the floor around the edges. It gets a little tricky if your room is larger than the usual 12' width that the flooring rolls come on and especially if you have a pattern match. Seams need to be very tight so they are not noticable. After the floor has been put down it need's to be rolled with a very heavy roller to adhere the floor to the glue and remove any air pockets left.
Q: is there an easy way to clean white interior latex paint off a wood floor? i'm kind of afraid to use anything "dangerous" in case I discolor the floor.
Are you cleaning up paint spatters or a spill? Or are the floors painted and you want to return them to bare wood? What I found that works great on spatters and spills is a product called OOPS! It's made by the same company that makes Goo Gone, a remover for that pesky label glue. I bought mine at the local hardware store. It's got a funny smell but it's not terrible. Spray the offending spots and let the product soak for awhile. Then take a razor blade and gently scrape the spots. It may very well take more than one application and scraping to get the paint off. When you get down to the last little bit, take a soft brush and scrub the area and the OOPS! will pull the paint out of the grain in most cases. I've used this stuff to remove spatters from oak wainscoting and trim. It takes patience and a little work but it gets the job done. If you are dealing with painted floors, the only way to remove the paint is either use a stripper or a sander and then refinish. For most people, this is not a DIY job because floor sanding is tricky.
Q: Vinyl tile floor
Do a search for floor wax.
Q: Would you go with a company that is less well known just because it does not offer floor time or do you think that having floor time is important to build your business?
Floor time doesn’t do a thing for you and your business – it just saves the company from paying an actual receptionist. If anything, floor time is bad for you. It takes away time that you could be using to prospect for your own business. I won’t say never, but rarely would someone call your office just looking for a random agent to work with so don’t think of phone time as a way to get clients.
Q: living area/kitchen area is covered in laminate wood flooring (i think it is the kind that snaps together). due to some major flooding (about an inch or so of water coming out of the bathroom, over the threshhold and underneath the wood), a small part of the wood floor got water underneath. i used fans on it and a dehumidifier, but the wood has seperated in a few places and sunken down in some places....kind of like a wave.is there any way to level the floor out without replacing the damaged pieces? i rent and i really don't want to forfeit my deposit or spend a lot replacing a floor that isn't mine.
I had professional install high quality laminated tile noy even 2 months later they say I have to replace and install sub flooring. They are saying the reason is moisture but it is in every room. The floor has lifted up to 4 inches in the living room it is getting worse everyday. I was told it was bad install and i moisture they should have used a barrier. What can i do?
