- Q: About 7 years ago I had new tile put in all around my bathtub. I knew I would not like cleaning this tile grout. It is way too much work now that I am a senior lady. I would love to replace this tile with something that has no grout needed. Other than Formica (Laminate) can anyone think of another product I can have installed without grout lines? Thank you for your suggestions.
- On the walls? A tub surround or tub kit as they are called too.
- Q: Just started tiling my tub surround and I have two very similar layouts graphed up. The actual colors of the tile and listello will be different than the ones shown in the pictures, so don‘t look at the computerized colors since they aren‘t accurate. The layout however, is pretty darn close to what I am planning on doing.
- If it have been my kitchen, i might circulate with a million'x1' easy impartial tile on the floor, lighter impartial colour on the partitions and are available across a different back splash. you're able to additionally come across a kitchen rug to verify the back splash to furnish it some continuity. i might additionally possibly circulate impartial colour with the counter tops. i might use impartial colorations basically with the aid of fact the brown interior the cabinets is amazingly solid. or... you circulate paint the cabinets white that may not basically brighten the kitchen altogether, yet in addition supply you a sparkling slate to apply regardless of colour on the partitions or counter tops. If I have been going this course then white cabinets, blueish-gray granite counter tops that incorporates backsplash, a million'x1' easy impartial tile with a rug matching the counter tops. Then knock it out with an extremely solid colour on the wall which includes a purple. The partitions are the least of your concerns considering you are able to continually repaint. desire this permits!
- Q: I want to lay tile in my living room and I am on a fixed income. I have never done anything like this and so I do not know how hard it will be for me to do.
- Not too, if you have a healthy back, young knees, and patience. Get a couple of books from teh library and READ them thoroughly. Make sure you spend more time preparing than anything else and purchase quality products. Have plenty of ibuprofen on hand. Good luck
- Q: I am going to lay bathroom floor tiles in my bathroom but I have some questions before I start. 1. Can I lay the new tiles over the existing floor, which is vinyl flooring? Or do I have to remove that first? 2. If I have to remove the vinyl flooring do I have to add cement backer board? Or can I lay the tile right over whatever is under the vinyl flooring? 3. I have trim along that floor that I will be re-attaching, do I lay the tile right up to the wall or do I put a space in between the wall and the edge tile? Do I then grout into that space between the wall and the edge tile?
- I just retiled my kitchen floor and am in the process of doing the bathroom. Are you using the self stick type tiles? You don't have to remove the sheet vinyl if there is no damage to it. You would be best to lay the back board for a clean surface for the tiles to adhere to. If you are using the self stick tiles and don't want to lay the back board you can make the tiles stick buy applying a tile glue just a thin layer will make them connect to the floor permanent.
- Q: I‘m assisting my friend with a property renovation and I need to know with tiles to buy. Can you guys help me out?
- I trust you're talking about flooring for a retail situation. Any decent floor tile works fine, I'd suggest something with a rough texture, for safety in case of wet situations -- spills, rain being tracked in, etc. Outlet stores can be found which offer excellent value, but limited selection -- retail finish out usually is heavily price driven, so look for bargains. Large tile for large spaces, smaller but not too small for smaller spaces. If you buy 2 different sizes (must be same thickness), you can easily make a pinwheel pattern by placing a big tile on the floor then putting small tiles around the 4 corners, and set big tile into the created corners (play with them a bit, and you'll figure it out). If you use a pinwheel, calculate the number of each tile needed by figuring the ratio of sizes. You'll need an equal number of pieces each size, allow 1/8 to 1/4 inch mortar joints, and remember grout costs more per sq ft than tile, and larger joints require more cleaning. Use darkish grout to minimize cleaning issues.
- Q: I‘m having a small bathroom remodled. The floor isn‘t perfectly rectangular, there are some uneven areas because of the tub. I would like the opinion of a profession tiler (should there be one put there, somewhere)...should the floor tiles always be centered, or start lined up against a wall? Also, should the grout be completely dry before sealing it? Thanks.
- You start from the centre always and lay tiles towards the edges. At the tub you take off the removable side and put the tiles under the tub a few inches. Refit the side but will need to take off some of the bottom edge. Get the first tiles exactly square and away you go. Grout should be dried out for at least 3 days before adding a sealant. Also before laying tiles cover the area with 6mm ply wood so that the whole floor is even otherwise you will/might get uneven tiles. Happy New Year.
- Q: Well I grouted my glass tile backsplash today and let it dry, now it is ready to be cleaned off, but i am completely exhausted! can i clean it off tomorrow or will it be too late? grout container said to let it dry for 4 hrs before cleaning off with a dry cloth. yeah right, a dry cloth does not do the trick. only a damp linen cloth used to scrub each individual little tile gets the haze and bits of left over grout off and that is going to literally take me all night. so can i do that tomorrow or do i need to pull an all nighter???
- I know you're tired but you'll be glad you did it tonight. Once grout dries out it is harder than h#ll. You'll be scraping grout till the cows come home and worrying about scratching your tile the whole time. Use some white vinegar to damp you cloth. It will help loosen the grout and clean the tile nicely while you're at it.
- Q: How to effectively remove the glue marks on the tiles?
- 4, in the removal of the time, whether it is to use to light water or vinegar, be sure to make these supplies completely soaked double-sided adhesive marks, can be easily and effectively remove Oh! 6, with soap plus a little ammonia and turpentine mixture , Can remove many dirt and make the glass surface more shiny (this article applies to tiles, ceramics, glass, etc.). 7, with a good sticky transparent glue repeatedly tear, you can remove some of the surface 8, with a little letter of sodium water on the wipe off, or paint can be thin .9, with a cotton swab dipped in water to wipe. 10, wind oil fine wipe. 11, use a special cleaning agent or sports shoes to remove the cream wipe.
- Q: What is the finish height of tile after grout and tile??? For example if I were to lay tile how much would it bring up the floor?? 1half inch???
- Depends on the thickness of your tile. Thinset is usually installed using a 1/4x1/4x1/4 notched trowel which translates to about 1/8 after tile are set on average. The average floor tile is about 3/8 which combined comes to 1/2 total thickness of product. Hope that helps.
- Q: I just finished grouting my tile yesterday I want to remove the haze with vinager should I let the grout cure for three days, then seal it and then scrub the whole floor including going over the grout lines (which would be then sealed) scrubbing with a sponge and avoiding the non cured grout is working but is taking far too long
- Remove standard grout haze, any time now with a dry rag. I prefer an old towel or hand towel. More stubborn haze or a rougher textured tile I prefer a white nylon pad. Sold most any where tile and tile supplies are sold. Buff using the nylon pad. Do this also dry. By doing it wet with water or a vinegar/water solution you reintroduce grout onto the tile by using the dirty water. You ll have to do it more to get the haze off. Don t seal grout until all haze is removed or the sealer will be sucked into the haze and that gets sealed onto the tile. use a penetrating sealer 3 days after tile was grouted. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
