If you truly want a good keyboard, then you might want to save some more, because the really good keyboards start from about $700-$800 and can go up to about $2500. You could get a good one for $500, but in my opinion, getting a keyboard, no matter how good, isn't worth it. If you're going to take piano exams or perform recitals, you'll probably need a small piano, even a really smal on. The reason being, the touch between a good piano and a keyboard is so much difference, that when you practice on a keyboard, then move onto a piano, you can't play properly, because the key are much harder to press. I should be shutting up now, because this has nothing to do with your question, but whatever. Back to your question. The best brand for a keyboard would probably be Yamaha. Surprising, most if the the really good piano manufacturers don't make keyboards. But Yamaha does. And it does a pretty good job at it too. The Yamaha keyboard have the hardest touch to them, making themselves the closest to an actual piano. The model I recommend for this is the Yamaha Clarinova series. These keyboards are absolutely wonderful, and they feel and sound like a real piano. I actually couldn't tell the difference when I heard it. The cheapest ones are from $750, I think. The real expensive ones go to like $1770. There a other good keyboards out there, but many beyond my knowledge. So research some more, and choose the on that's right for you. Cheers Y.k.

Since the PC Keyboard's keys (at least 32 keys) are not aligned respectively, can I possibly use metal strips to adjust certain points on the keyboard's switch pad to align at least 32 keys horizontally?
- It would work as long as you would not attempt to pierce the pcb inside the keyboard (assuming that you have one, of course). Yet tt would be a lot more effective, ergonomic, reliable and aesthetical, if you would just make a custom enclosure for your home made MIDI keyboard. Go for wood, or organic glass, whichever fits you best. After all, if you are able to make piano keys, i think that making a box of some-kind of material and fixing the pcb on it + keys would not be too hard. A tad of planning, half-a day of work and tu-dum!

Buy some contact cleaner or carefully put some alcohol on the plug of the keyboard and stick in the female socket on your computer. While its still wet push it in and out.
