- Q: I have a lenovo ideapad Y580, the other day I say smudges on some of the keyboard's keys so I took a cloth and cleaned them but as I was rubbing the key with the cloth I was holding down on the button. Does this damage the keyboard? I'm worried if pressing the key too hard while rubbing it with a cloth might eventually damage the key or even chip the key out.
- Keyboards are generally durable enough to handle a cloth, as long as you are gentle with your handling. The only issue that would stem from cleaning your keyboard is the possibility of accidentaly pulling a key out, but all you have to do is pop it back on.

- You can go to the upper left hand corner and click the apple then go to system prenfrences -keyboard and mouse, see if it is detected as a keyboard. First see if the Number Lock, Caps Lock are working. Does the light turn on? Make sure you have Number lock OFF. Have you spilled anything on the keyboard? Sodas, juice? If you have, you prolly killed the circutry. I KNOW for a FACT, that you can go into the apple store and they have a lifetime warranty on any of their keyboards. - How cheap do you mean exactly? :P Cos I've seen $69 keyboards in Big W I think it was, but I dont remember how long ago, so maybe they're cheaper by now, if they're still there. Sorry I dont know about the plugs, it was just an average size basic keyboard. Otherwise I'd suggest you try a local music shop, but for a good keyboard I'd expect you might have to pay a bit more :) Hope this helps!
