- Q:hi,i have 4 solar panels. I can get 9V 400mA when i wired them parallel. The question is: how can i make a regulator circuit to store power into batteries.
- wire them in series parallel to get 8 volts at 200 mA, and that should charge a 2 volt battery. You may want to put in a series diode to prevent the battery from discharging into the panel when the sun is out. At 200 mA, depending on the battery size, you may not need much control, as that low a current will not overcharge a large battery, like a small auto battery. In fact it will take a very long time to charge it. edit: But do i need to add a regulator? If by that you mean a voltage regulator, no, as a solar panel has a high output resistance, and that will limit the current into the battery. If you mean a charge controller, if the battery is small, you may need a charge contoller to avoid overcharging the battery. But that is not a voltage regulator. .

- Solar panels and wind/water turbines all produce the energy and feed it into the batteries. Outfeed from the batteries thru an inverter to an electrical panel. From panel to outlets, into which you plug standard appliances and items. You can also get some appliances that run off of 2volt. Check with r.v. companies and suppliers for these. You can also run low voltage wires straight from batteries to switches to lights, fans, etc if you put in 2v ones. Just like your car has lights, fans (ac blower), and radio. As for how many batteries you need will depend upon how much ebergy you will use. You will need to figure how much all of your items use per hour. Then figure how long your charging device could be down for at a time. Solar panels will not charge at all for the 8-2 hours of nightfall depending on your area. Wind turbines will charge day and night so long as wind is of sufficient speed. Water turbines will charge 24/7 so long as water source(creek, stream, river) doesn't run dry. Neccessity/hr=N, time without charging =T. N times T = the amount of backup power you need to get you thru till charging sysytem kicks back in.

- If you know where to look you get get solar panels for zero costs. For example, a lot of sign companies use solar panels. Contact your local sign company and tell them you will haul off all their broken solar panel for free. They are generally more than willing to let you do this.

- Quite a bit to run 480 volts @ 50 amps. Ohms law will give you the basic level your looking for but also you need to consider power storage ... Conversions .... Start up power vs running power levels ... it can be done but this is a bigger system then what I need so I cant just give you an number your panels will be rated in wattage and amperage you then take that power and put it in storage (battery) to inverter system (mine is 20 volt) you will need to have a 480 inverter for your power level. good luck hope I was of some help.

- There are 3 (simple) ways to increase the efficiency of a solar panel at home - they all work by increasing the amount of light that falls onto it: . Have the solar panel track the sun throughout the day so that it always faces it; 2. Place a lens (larger than the panel) in front of the panel that focuses the light from the sun onto it. 3. Have mirrors around the panel than redirect light from themselves onto the solar panel. (e.g. imagine a satellite dish with the solar panel at the front and the dish being all mirrored.)

- Both wind and solar take many years to break even economically, even with government subsidies (Using someones hard-earned tax dollars for your use). If purchased and installed with your own money, they will never pay for themselves because they will need replacement long before you save enough to pay the cost.
