- Q: so you know those boxed sink w/ vanitie that the lowes and Home depot sells. Most of the standard ones are either white or a light oak. Has anyone ever painted or stained the oak one a different color to match their bathroom a little better. Like a darker cherry vs. the light oak that you buy it as ?Was wondering if this could be done, or a good idea, would I have to prime it first, I mean it is wood, it should be able to absorb and accept a good quality wood stain, right ?
- Most of the pre fab cabinetry sold at the big box stores are usually veneered MDF. Meaning you probably won't be able to stain the cabinet. You may be able to paint the cabinet.

We don't have TONS of space, but have found the shower & toilet that will work (both are white).We like some of the modern styled vanities but are finding them to be ridiculously expensive $2200 - $2800 for the sink & vanity. - Check around for a place that sells Diamond brand. They are sold as Thomasville at HD, but you're paying more for the fancy name. As Diamond they are rather inexpensive, but still a decent cabinet. I would suggest asking for all plywood construction in a bathroom.
