- Q:I am trying to find an inexpensive vacuum for my apartment. One day I will buy a fancy expensive one but I need one now and that is not what I can afford. I have been looking at what vacuums people recommend and it sounds like the bagged vacuums work better. However, most of the ones in the stores are bagless so I had assumed that was better. Is that only true with high end machines? Or is everyone carrying bagless just because they look cooler on the shelves?

- Q:How to clean a portable vacuum cleaner?
- Clean appearance is relatively easy, generally only need to use a soft cloth dipped in soapy water wipe, but do not use organic solvent cleaning, to avoid the appearance of plastic crack, fade or paint, but also can not use steel balls and other hard objects clean, so as not to damage the body.
- Q:When were wet/dry vacuums invented?
- Daniel Hess of West Union, Iowa invented a vacuum cleaner in 1860, calling it a carpet sweeper instead of a vacuum cleaner. His machine did, in fact, have a rotating brush like a traditional carpet sweeper, and also possessed an elaborate bellows mechanism on top of the body to generate suction of dust and dirt. Hess received a patent (US No. 29.077) for his invention of the vacuum cleaner on July 10, 1860 British engineer, Hubert Cecil Booth patented a motorized vacuum cleaner on August 30, 1901. Booth's machine took the form of a large, horse-drawn, petrol-driven unit, which was parked outside the building to be cleaned with long hoses being fed through the windows. Booth first demonstrated his vacuuming device in a restaurant that same year and successfully sucked dirt. More Americans inventors introduced variations of the same cleaning-by-suction type contraptions. For example, Corinne Dufour invented a device that sucked dust into a wet sponge; and, David Kenney designed a huge machine that was installed in a cellar and connected to a network of pipes leading to each room of a house. Of course, these early versions of vacuum cleaners were bulky, noisy, smelly, and unsuccessful.
- Q:My 6 month old Sammys in love with our vacuum, any time I try to vacuum the house he crawls around trying to grab at it, and if its just sitting there, he's practically tackle it and try to climb on it! All my siblings were scared horrible of vacuums, so i find this hilarious! Who else babies love vacuum cleaners??? And is there anything I can do to differ this attraction? Lol, its adorable, but makes cleaning harder!
- My LO used to love the vacuum sound before he was 2 months old but now, he sticks out his bottom lip and starts wailing every time I turn it on. My dog is also terrified of it so vacuuming is a very scary time in our house!
- Q:don't say the noise, because i remember one occasion i was in my friends house and the dog started chasing me.so i ran round the table and reached for the vacuum (which wasn't on) and it immediately started to back off. now before you say something like it knows the noise....this Dog was a huge puppy.so i doubt MEMORY would have been great.
- A dog's short-term memory may be crap, but their long-term memory is not. Important things are committed to long-term memory, things like repetitive habits (training, etc) and traumatic or particularly frightening or exciting experiences, like their first encounter with the vacuum cleaner. It is, in fact, the noise that bothers them. They are loud and have no respect for the dog's boundaries :P
- Q:Why don't they make gasoline powered vacuum cleaners?
- They make them for outdoor use.
- Q:I've had my Dirt Devil bagless for only a few years. It was running just fine before we moved to our new house. Our new house has berber carpet. My vacuum does not move well on this type of carpet with a lot of dragging. What is a smooth flowing vacuum for very low carpet?
- I've had my Dyson Animal for 3 years now and have not had any problems with it whatsoever. It picks up everything! We bought ours refurbished from OKorder and paid about $400 with shipping, which was a big savings then. I'm not sure how much they run now, but well worth the money!
- Q:Aren't dogs just the Best vacuum cleaners ever?
- yes!!!
- Q:Or how noisy are they? Like blow dryers?
- I would say the same
- Q:Any advice, anyone?
- Well I dont know if it is inexpensive but it is very important the vacuum has a power head to separate the carpet fibres to lift the pet hair, I have a SEBO and with several cats it does the job perfectly. I found cheap vacs with no power head are useless.
