Thrash Metal is similar to heavy metal but faster and usually with more technical solo's. See Metallica, Slayer or Anthrax. Doom Metal is slow going, not much happens, see My Dying Bride. Gothic metal normally means Operatic vocals, check out Nightwish, Leaves Eyes, After Forever or others like that. Folk Metal is based main on Folklore, but i can't think of any specific bands, though you could put Arkham in there, who are H.P. Lovecraftian Metal. Viking Metal is just music based on Ancient Norsk. Most Black Metal bands include parts. The BEST kind of metal at the moment though, appears to only have 1 band, and thats pirate metal!!!! Q: I listen to much metal, from classic heavy metal to death metal, and I would like to know what is the heaviest metal genre. I want your answer to be filled with facts, not just like quot;x is heaviestquot;. Discuss please, thank you.: Nu Metal is a bullshit genre. None of the bands you mentioned sound remotely alike , yet they are in the same genre. Along with Static X and who know who else. Total utter silliness, its a worthless genre. People say Nu Metal sucks, and I don't get that. It is too broad . Some of the bands are crap, some are really good.

Q: looking for a list of metals most corrosive to least: I agree with almost everything you said except that I prefer American metal because I'm more into thrash (Testament, Metallica, etc.) and stuff like Ozzy and Black Label Society. BUT I also like European metal. Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Celtic Frost rule.

Q: Also, what is the difference between death metal and dark metal?: Metal is first divided into the various types then each type is sent to a specific furnace which melts the metal down and impurities are skimmed off to maintain purity. Then the molten metal is poured into a mold, hardened then brought to a refinery where it is refined to a very high % then poured into bars weighing about 30 lbs. then sold to customers all over the world. I live in a smelter toen and we deal with this all fo the time. My summer jobs while in University included this work.

Q: Isn't it sad how the public views System of a Down and Slipknot more metal then Black Sabbath and Slayer?: yes..all the time I think... and even somethime they think screamo is a black metal.. LOL

Q: When I say new age metal I mean metalcore (Bands-All That Remains, Killswitch Engage), death metal (Beneath The Massacre, Cannibal Corpse), groove metal (Chimaira, Lamb Of God), and the like. Many people are disgusted at them but I prefer them to the classic types of metal...power metal and other genres like it. I'd just like to know why so many people diss new age metal.: 1
