- Q: Alright, so earlier this year I bought a set of photography lighting right.. And they are great. But you know how photography lights light kinda white-ish and normal lights (in my opinion) light orangey-ish???? Please tell me you get what I mean.. Because I have these lights I bought at Walmart but they don't light white.. They light orange. Why is that?? Is it the watts? The brightness? Please help
- You can get just about any shade you want out of lights... either by changing bulbs or adding filters (called gels) to the light. walmart is not a real photo store... you probably have incandescent bulbs in the wally world set. If you put the same bulbs in all your lights, you won't have this problem. Mixed light sources (such as florescent mixed with incandescent) are the worst way to do things, and the hardest to fix. By using the same bulbs in all your lights, you can set your camera white balance and forget it.
- Q: I would like to install pull chain lights in my cellar that work independently of each other. How do I wire a string of these lights on a single wire. Do I need to use 3-wire to the first light followed by 2-wire between the 1st and 2nd lights so there is a separate hot going to each light?Thank You

- Q: what are the rules for which lights to turn on, and when?
- FAR 91.209 states that position lights (nav lights) must be used from sunset to sunrise. It also states that if anticollision lights (strobe and/or beacon) are installed, they must be turned on at all times when operating the airplane unless it is safer to operate without them, such as near other airplanes during ground operations or while flying through clouds. Advisory Circulars AC 91-73A and AC 120-74A have recommendations, but they aren't rules. The recommendations are to use the rotating beacon whenever the engine is running. Turn on nav and strobe lights prior to starting the taxi. Use taxi lights while moving, and turn them off when stopped. Turn on all available lights when crossing a runway. Turn on all lights except for landing lights when cleared onto the runway (position and hold). Turn on landing lights when cleared for takeoff. The AC does not specify when to turn off the landing light after takeoff or when to turn it on before landing. Common sense says keep them on when in high traffic areas. In jets, we normally keep the landing lights or recog lights on whenever we are below 18,000 feet. Obviously, this doesn't apply to small propeller planes. When I was instructing in Cessnas, I would keep the landing lights on within 10 miles of an airport when entering or leaving the traffic pattern and while in maneuvering flight when I wanted to be more visible.
- Q: The dash reads, Brake Light Circuit, but the brake lights work fine. What can I do to turn off the warning light on dash? Need to know from someone who really knows.
- Your warning light will show if there is a blown bulb, however if you say your lights are fine then check the wattage of the bulb fitted. If you or someone else has fitted aftermarket led tail lights then you will need a resistor fitted inline with the brake light circuit to fool the light control module that gives the error. your other option is to take it to bmw and have them recode the light control module. This will let it know that there is led lights fitted and to not show a warning light.
