Q: I got a car but the guy who owned it b4 me didnt really seem to take care of it any good. I‘ve never really used fuel or oil additives but im goign to try and do all i can to keep it running nicely for now. and by fuel additives i do not mean the octane boost, i mean the fuel system cleaner and fuel savor.: The additives put in your fuel tank rarely work. They typically fall and sit on the bottom of the tank. One fuel system cleaner that I know works is SeaFoam. You will have to suck this SLOWLY into the intake manifold. DO THIS OUTSIDE IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA! It produces a lot of smoke. My car was blowing giant smoke rings. You can also use the rest of it in the fuel tank. Seafoam mixes well because it isnt as thick. Hope this helps

This crap costs more in lost fuel mileage then in helps. I have a 77' olds cutlass with a v8 engine and auto trans. I have had this car for almost 20 years. When I first got it, I averaged 22mpg at 55mph. Not bad for a v8. Now with this E-crap, I'm lucky if I get 18mpg. I have started using Lucas fuel system additive and have found my mileage has increases to about 21mpg. I use it also in my 97' chevy truck and it has helped increase my mileage from 16mpg to 18. I have also found that it is more cost effective if I buy the large bottle. A small bottle is about 5 bucks and treats 20 gallons, where as the large bottle is about 20 bucks and I can get 5 small bottles out of it. Hope this helps. Christopher
