- Q: I have a mobile phone, an LG CU515. For as long as I've had it, I've experienced disruption of service. At random parts of the day, in any weather condition, I will hear a slight beep, and then open my phone only to read, Smartchip not allowed MM#The phone isn't shutting itself off, I just can't make or receive any calls, or text messages. WhenI'm in the process of an Instant Message, I'm immediately signed out. I've found powering it off, and then back on, fixes the problem. I miss calls and texts if I don't have the phone around me, as I don't hear the slight noise that always sounds, when these distruptions occur. I always get the messages that are missed, once I power the phone off and on.I've had the phone for at least 4 months. I've talked to 4 different 'experts' at ATT, but they're clueless. I'm very simple. I don't ask for much, but this is quite bothersome. Can you advise?
- No need to be upset, Princess-all old people can't use cell phones. Problem is, mobiles don't last forever- esp. batteries if you are charging them every other day. 4 months is a bit early for the things you are experiencing, so take it back. If you can't do that, then get the cheapest one you can buy. You don't need 200 million pixel video camera on it if you won't use it. JUST MAKE SURE YOU CAN GO ON THE NET WITH IT! Don't forget to take your chip out and make sure the one you do buy is tri-band. But just keep phoning ATT and complain. I am guessing it is a free number, so when you are watching tv, having lunch, can't sleep, in the toilet, having a swim-just phone them. All the time, just keep going. You might get a free phone out of it-I did! 3.

- You need a T-Mobile account and data plan just to set the phone up initially. I have one, so I've done it. When you first fire up the phone, it expects to find a T-Mobile sim with an active data plan, and you have to set up Google access with either an existing account or a new account set up on the phone. Once you do that, I understand you can unlock the phone and use it with other GSM systems (like ATT), but there are a couple of caveats: 1. You won't be able to use the T-Mobile data network, even with a ATT data plan. 2. You can allegedly tweak the phone to use the ATT data network, but you still have to have a data plan to do so. 3. You won't have any 3G access on ATT or T-Mobile's network. It will work with the edge network, but since the phoen si a 3G phone, you lost the advantage of that higher speed network. To me, doing it this way is no advantage. Even though ATT has better 3G coverage (currently), T-Mobile is rapidly rolling theirs out, and it is available in many major cities. I have it where I work in DC, but not where I live yet in Jacksonville, Florida, but the edge network works there really well. I know you have an ATT plan, but if your contract is up or close to it, I'd switch. I'm very happy with T-Mobile (been with them many years) and the G1 is an excellent phone.

- Q: I bought an LG OptimusV right before Christmas and for about a month now though, it has been freezing up. It is to the point now where at least twice daily it will completely lock until I take out the battery and replace it. Since this phone is under warranty still, I know I can get a replacement from Virgin Mobile. Is there any way though that Virgin Mobile could give me a completely different model? I've had so many other issues with this phone regarding battery life and now this freezing issue, that I really don't want another Optimus. If you are pursuing the warranty replacement route, then you are stuck with another Optimus V, and they do not offer discounts on replacement phones. I would agree that the Optimus V is not a good phone, but when you look at how cheap that Virgim Mobile is, you can see how they cannot offer higher quality phones (basically it will be costly enough that it will cost them customers, as they typically want things on the cheap.). At least the phones that Virgin Mobile offers are better quality than those that Straight Talk offers (around 1 in 5 Straight Talk phones are defective).

- If they didn't delete it then in ur calls and texts if they did ring your provider if u on pay monthly and ask for itemized billing if u on pay as u go it be on your Internet my account or phone your provider and ask but that will only work if you are registered
- Q: I have a T-Mobile Shadow. It's old and beat up and I got it in about 2008. I think Its due for an upgrade but I don't know which phones I can get for it. I really want the HTC HD2. - You need to go to the T-Mobile website and sign into your account or if you haven't set up an online account, do so. All cell phone carriers have their sites set up that will show you 1. If you qualify for an upgrade. 2. How much this upgrade will cost. For instance: Sprint lets me get an upgrade every year. Some phones are absolutely free and some I would have to pay a small fee ( such as a 300. phone I might only pay $50). Also, Sprint will let me upgrade after 6 months however, the credit I get is less. At 6 months, I get $50 and then at 8 months $75 and so on.) If you are not computer savvy and cannot find how to do this on your own, call T-Mobile. They will gladly and willingly direct you to their sales department and tell you what you qualify for.
