Q: So I had a scaffold/industrial done about 10 weeks ago, and its been infected at the top hole only for about 3/4 weeks. It has like a little bubble near the hole and sometimes its filled with pus a little bit and sometimes its not. Well I went the doctors about 2 weeks ago and he prescribed me a weeks worth of antibiotics as well as anti-septic cream. So I took the pills for a week and it was clearing up, I was also applying the cream twice a day. But then yesterday I noticed the lump has gotten a little bit bigger. I don't know what to do, should I take it out? But I really don't want to. And plus the doc said to wait up to 3 weeks and if nothings changed to go back and take it out. If I continue to use the cream, will it eventually go? Q: Right! I've heard from so many different people about this. Some say that you should never twist an industrial because it can damage the delicate newly healing skin cells. Others say that you must twist it to prevent the jewelry from healing attached to the skin and to be able to clean it properly.There really doesn't seem to be a definitive answer!My piercer has said not to twist it, so I haven't been, and I'm happy that the piercing is clean enough, etc. However I'm interested in whether any of you out there have found that not twisting it can damage it more than doing so.Thanks: i twisted mine alot and the cartlidge inbetween has ripped and it hurts unbelievably loads, so i wouldnt twist it

I am wondering if the scaffold is just a specific part of the matrix??: For most purposes, they are interchangeable terms for the same things. Some people favor one term, some the other. Q: Okay, quick question. I dropped into a couple of piercing studios yesterday to inquire about getting a scaffold done. Both places informed me that it's not a good idea to have it pierced with a bar straight off, as the pressure from the jewellery combined with the swelling when first pierced can seriously slow down the healing rate. Is this true? The second place said they will pierce both holes with rings, and these can be changed to a bar after around 6 to 8 weeks.Is this the best option? Thanks for any replies.: yeah that is a better idea. it prevents the bar from getting ripped out, rejecting, and generally makes it less likely to get caught up in your hair while it's still sore.

Q: hi, ive had my scaffolding for a little over a month now, and one of the holes has started going really weird. on the top, its swollen and sore on one side, and on the bottom, its the same but on the opposite side. not sure if its infected ir being rejected by ear, which ive heard can happen. i would like to keep it in if possible,as i love it. any help welcomed :) thanks xx: Normally if there is an infection it is very very sore, red, warm to the touch, and secretes yellow or green pus. It sounds like you might also be possibly forming a keloid, but most likely it is just irritated. Continue with your sea salt soaks (hopefully thats what your doing) and go down to your piercer and have them check it out if you get too worried about it.
