Q:I have a new light fixture I am trying to install. The electrical box has two sets of black and white wires coming in. Both of the black wires are connected together while the white wires from either set were used to connect the old fixture. How should I wire in the new fixture. The switch for this light has only one set of black and white wires connected to the light switch.: If you don't get it, you need to simply hire a qualified electrician so you don't screw up the fixture. Either that or see if there is a wall switch for the fixture for starters. Most people simply put black tape on the white wire that comes back from the switch because it is hot.

Q:having a difficult time finding a wire for my remoter starter: The white wire to the coil is the tach wire. If you have the 4.3L,there is a white wire with a black tracer from the ignition control module to the coil. If that doesn't help,on the PCM,in the red connector,terminal 10 is the tach wire from the PCM to the Instrument cluster,this wire is also white.

The Black wire was considered the return or negative line; and if you have a green wire it is used to put an earth ground on all the shielding, metal jackets, etc.

Q:When wiring an aftermarket car stereo, do you always match color to like color? Also do you have to use every wire from the wire harness?: Assuming the head unit follows the standard color code (there are some cheap Chinese import units that don't) then you should match the head unit wire colors to the harness wire colors. There are a few extra rules, though: -If the harness has a blue wire, and the head unit only has blue/white (no blue), then the blue harness wire should be connected to the blue/white head unit wire. If the harness has a blue/white AND a blue wire, then both of them should be connected to the head unit's blue/white wire. Similarly, if the head unit has only a blue wire and no blue/white, then it should be connected to the blue and the blue/white wires in the harness. -Orange and orange/white can be treated as interchangeable; ie, an orange/white head unit wire can be connected to an orange harness wire, and vice-versa. Where do these wires go? thanks: Honest answer is to take it to a audio specialist. finding and wiring a stereo from scratch (termed hardwiring) is a hard job even for the most advanced audio specialist. This is speaking from experience. Most wires are not colour coded and you will need a amp meter to measure the current, voltage, continuity and resistance in order to find out what wire does what. One wrong wire could mean new speakers or in the worst case set fire to your car. I've have done hardwires for over 5 years, and I've seen some real mess, which quite possibly could have been avoided for a few quid but impatience and inexperience has lead to new cables, trim and other pieces which were damaged due to bad installations. Please be careful!! added 9/11/06: (Note To other answeres) Don't use Choc connections or block connectors for wiring stereos as these are open connections with exposed areas of metal if they came into contact with earthed chassis they can cause a short try using bullet style or butt connectors they are more secure and sheilded!
