- Q: We have a very low slope roof, nearly flat. A local roofer proposed to redo it using only a base sheet and roofing cement. This sounds like it's probably a cheaper cut corner way to do it. Is this common?
- I'm no expert, but I have the same kind of garage roof and I've had it done twice in 17 years with the rolled roofing and if it's done right, they didn't even use cement. I confess, the first time I fixed it myself and I did use the roofing cement. It was fine but I never did get the gutters on right, forgot the drip cap and so the back end of the roof rotted within 4 years. Eventually I had a handy man redo it and he did a better job that lasted for awhile, but a wind storm ripped it half off after about 6 years. My neighbors don't have nearly as many problems as I do with their garage roofs. In fact, I've never seen them repairing theirs. I'm actually in the midst of getting roofing bids myself, for the house and the garage. I've heard a lot about the rubber roofing on garage roofs but I've seen some bad reviews for that. I've gotten some good information from my city building inspectors on their opinions and they are unbiased. Good luck to you.

- I think you are confusing cement with concrete. Sometimes crushed concrete is used as a base material for roads, or as ballast in gabion baskets. Cement is the very fine dusty material that reacts with water to make concrete. It's generally not used without aggregate (i.e. sand, stones).

- Cement is the powder made from limestone, clay and gypsum that is the binder for making concrete. Concrete is the product of mixing cement with sand and/or gravel and water. Sidewalks, bridges and buildings are concrete, not cement.

- ok, if u r driving a cement truck y do u think u need a tanker endorsment? A cement truck is a 10+ wheeled straight truck with a cement mixer on back...it needs class b with airbrake (if equipped) endorsment.

- yeah i think you can go back to running, just rest your knee for a bit longer. and also i bet your try sprinting and your leg got tired and you fell. that happens to me. but i always sprint to improve it really helps . sprint at the end.

- Yes the PSI rating of cement is it's strength rating. But the higher rated cement is more expensive, and it is heavier. So maybe you would use the higher rated cement for the foundation and the lighter stuff for the higher floors. The design of the building would take all this into consideration to provide a structure that meets code but does not cost too much.
