- it can be a job.look in the ceiling,there should be tie wires holding the frame of the tiles up.they may need to be adjusted.to get the ceiling flat you will need to pull a string from one end to the other of the ceiling or use a laser
- Q: I have a new bathtub with Durock cement board installed around it and I‘m ready for tile. I just got a guy out to give me an estimate for doing the tile work around the tub and he said the Durock would have to be primed first. I‘ve heard you‘re supposed to put the tile directly on the Durock, not paint it. Now I don‘t know what to do. Is he wrong? If he‘s wrong, do I hire someone else or just question him? He did another (non-tile related) job for me and did an excellent job, so I trust him, but I‘m nervous about this. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
- Do NOT prime cement board before tiling. The whole reason is to bond to the cement substance of the Durock or cement board. There are times or situations that you need to water proof cement board , but that would be a different situation. I would consider hiring some one else. - Q: i going to tile my whole house both floors bath room and all with the same tile it is a 20x20 tile diagonally where should i start and does it really matter where ?
- Start doing the largest area and do a 1/2 tile on the out side wall. All interior walls are supposed to be layed out to the out side and be square. Now if you have a long visible hall way near by, you may want to split that to get a good look at it from there. Its hard to positively say with out seeing it. I could visualize it then. Since this is a diagonal you cant control to much where the tiles land. If it were a straight lay, you d have a bit more control as to the layout. - Q: I‘m tiling my bathroom shower and need to cut holes for the shower head and body sprayers. I‘m using porcelain tile and I‘m not having any luck cutting the holes. I‘ve bought a couple holes saw bits that say they are for porcelain, but they just don‘t seem to be doing the job. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
- your asking a difficult one here ...everybody has trouble with this one ...unless you hire an expensive hole cutter ..the cheap ones don't do a lot ..just burn out ..im a builder and i have a tool that does it very well ..its a clamp ..like a G clamp but one half has a hole in it ..you clamp the tile and with pointed hammer ...part of kit ..gently knock hole in tile works every time ..never broke one ..but the tile must be well clamped ...before i had this tool i used to drill hole in tile and the expand the hole with a rotary stone ...it was tapered ...all ways work from glazed side

- Q: I need step by step instructions on how to install ceramic tile in a bathroom on a concrete slab.
- I okorder . I'm going to try replacing the tiles in my shower. There is some water damage so I'm going to have to replace the boards, backing, and maybe even wall supports first though. I'm hoping to be able to finish it in a couple of weeks, luckily I have a second bathroom! Tiling is hard, you might have to rent a wet saw too. But it can pay off by increasing the value of your house at a tiny fraction of the $1,000's that contractors would charge. I would only do this project if you are patient and have some experience with DIY projects. If you have lots of time, then go for it!

- 1 st try and determine whos tile it is, this will help cut down the looking time and possibly stop your looking all together .. If you have 1 spare tile look on the back to see if there there is any lettering on the back , this I ll help you with if you need help. Measure the tile , if its 4 3/8 ths you don t need to look at Florida tile, if its 4 1/4 start with American Olean and Interceramic if the tile is 15/20 years or older.. Anything else start by going to tile distributors and tile shops taking a tile or a pc with you. Realizing that you may not get a perfect tile match because of dye lots and shading even after a couple months this can be a problem.. - Q: My mothers house has 9 tiles on her bathroom floor and I understand they are made with asbestos. Some of the tiles are starting to lift and I am concerned about how to remove and dispose of them, any suggestions?
- well, if you don't remodel then you are ok without a permit. Otherwise the legal thing to do is call an expert to removed them. I would be careful not to cause any airborne particles to breath and remove them yourself. Spray water on it, then dispose it in a trash bag. The each trash pick up, would throw out a little at time. The asbestos removers do that anyway.
