Q: Real tile or those that u just glue on?? why?
There are some nice vinyl self-adhesive tiles out there, and for about a dollar a square foot, it's hard to go wrong. Just do good prep work to make sure it's beautiful and long-lasting. Ceramic tile takes a lot of work. Additionally, you may need backer board for either type of floorcovering if there are any imperfections in your existing subfloor, and the combined thickness of the board, mud, and ceramic tile quickly adds up to a taller floor that can cause stubbed toes when transitioning off carpet areas. Bottoms of doors can begin to drag the floor too. Good luck and happy scraping.
Q: What is the difference between tiles, tiles, tiles and tiles?
Tiles are collectively called, tiles are paved with polished tiles and glazed tiles, tiles are glazed tiles, tiles made of samples
Q: How many pieces of a tiles are there in general?
Look at the size of ah, look at the size of the box and tile size, 80 of our 80 by 80 also
Q: The tile I have has some asbestos in it .How do I dispose of it. Also somebody also said that the glue has some of it in it,True or False
Your talking about vct vinal composite tile and yes the old ones do contain asbestoes as does the glue, called cut back should be black in color. Its best to call an abatement contractor, but if you insiste on doing it yourself just protect yourself. Were gloves, eyeprotection , air resperater, and disposible overalls like painters use, and make sure you have good ventalation, add fans. Once the stuff gets in your lungs its permanant and no way to reverce the damage.
Q: i had a pipe leak into my bedroom and now everything is torn apart so i am remodeling my room and i cant decide between wood or tile flooring. my dad said wood because it looks good and because our living room and theater room is tile and if my bedroom is tile it wouldnt make any sense. my mom says i should get tile because if my grandma spills her drink or eat in my room it wont ruin the tile and its easy to clean up but if wood it could be ruined with scratch marks or circle stain on the wood from the cup or drink she spills. so now i dont know which one to choose. also i would like to paint my room blue and wonder if you guys have any suggestions on the shade colors of blue any website or image of the shade color would be nice if i could view them. thank you in advance!
If your bedroom is in the basement then tile, if not then wood. One day the home will be sold and if it's tile you will take a big hit from the buyer. Wood floors can be refinished back to almost new, tile can't. Brazilian Cherry looks great.... You can get it in 3/4 finished/un finished or engineered which has a 1/8 inch of wood on top. Also comes in composite with printed on wood grain.
Q: Some red nail polish was spilled on my tile bathroom floor. What can I use to remove it? Nail polish remover would be an obvious choice, but it only removes the glob of polish and not the color. Any suggestions?
I just dropped red polish and splattered everywhere. In addition to my best jeans, made a huge mess in the bathroom. I tried nail polish remover and hair spray, did not work. The Mr. Clean Pad did clean the ceramic tile but not the grout, walls, white baseboard trim or door.
Q: Anyone know how much I should expect to pay to have a professional install ceramic tile flooring? The prep work has been done. The tile is 12 x 12, there‘s about 90 sq ft of floor (concrete... sealed). I‘ve purchased the materials (tile, thinset, grout). I just want to know how much to expect to pay for labor. Is $5.00 per sq ft. too much? That‘s the quote I was given. Thanks for any help.
$5.00 is about what normal stores around here charge. Ive been installing for about 4 years now
Q: I have travertine tile in my bathroom that apparently wasn‘t sealed properly. Now it has water stains that are visible when viewed from an angle. It‘s ugly and I can‘t get rid of them. Any suggestions?
Does the tile feel a little rough where you see the stains? The tile may have been etched by acid like effect of low-pH water (like acid rain does) or from the use of alkaline or acidic cleaners and soap scum removers. Most of the popular cleaners will break down the sealer layer and damage stone tile surfaces. Ideally one should use a non-abrasive, pH-neutral cleaner that is specially formulated for natural stone materials. There is a chance that you could use a polishing powder or compound like MB-11, which you can find out more about at the websites listed below. However, there is also a big chance that you will do more damage to the tile. It might be worth trying to remove the stains/etching in some inconspicuous area on the floor before you use it right out in the middle where damage will be easily seen. If that doesn't work then it may be time to call in a flooring restoration specialist to do the job.
Q: Hello,Trying to decide on tile for living area. What is the difference between ceramic and porcelain tiles? What price is reasonable for installation of the tile?
A porcelain tile is decorative and glazed only on the outside. If you were to see a cross section, you would find only a small decorative veneer sorta surface on the exposed side. The rest of the tile has a dirt colour. In a ceramic tile, the colour is uniform throughout the tile. Practically, say if a prcelain tile gets chipped, you will see the dirt colour where it's chipped. In a ceramic one, it would not be such a stark difference. By the way, many mugs and cups we use for beverages, are made of ceramic. The not so personal stuff like vases could be made of porcelain. Got it ?
Q: i have ceramic tiles that are loose hollow underneath
Yes Rob...I would suggest you pull up a piece of tile. If the tile has thinset on it, Then there is no bond to the substrait (the floor/plywood, cementitious backerboard or dry packed mortar). If there is no thinset on the tile, Then the thinset may have set-up before the the tile was put down. Stand where the tile is coming up and roll up on to your toes, with some force! bang down with the heals of your feet. If you feel the floor move/bounce, Then the substrait is faulty. In any event the floor must be taken up. TCNA (Tile Council of North America) Suggests a 19/32 tongue and groove plywood subfloor over joists 16 on center and a underlayment plywood floor of 19/32 with an 1/8 cap between sheets. I know its a lot to take in but if you have another installer redo the floor you should get the TCNA handbook and make sure its done right. It only costs about $9.00 Look up TCNA on line. Also make sure the installer uses a super modified thinset!
