- Q: I am doing my bathroom slate and i need a bullnose tile. I special ordered it at Home Depot and now they are telling me it is discontinued. I was wondering if anyone new of a web site or store that i could order this from because my bathroom is supposed to be started Monday and Now i dont have the bull nose... please help??
- Check the manufacturer of the tile. They probably have a website and may be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck.
- Q: I have 12x12 field tile and a strip of accent that‘s about 2 high. Everything I‘ve read says that you want to have the accent at eye level, which makes sense to me. Judging for myself, it LOOKS best at eye level. If I place it at eye level, I wind up with a full 12x12 tile above it, or at least, a 12 space above it. So going down to the tub, I would have a 2 1/2 cut tile at the bottom, right above the tub.Everything I have read also says that you want to have the cut tiles at the top and bottom symmetrical.
- Provided the tub is fairly level, start a full tile at the bottom and work up. Tile will look fine at a 5 or six foot level ( I prefer 5 ft.) Not every one has the same eye level so the strip will be fine. The tub surround will be a bit different too so what I suggest is measuring on the tub wall the tile heights and stand back and look at it. Use a pc of tape the approx width of the strip and tape it or draw it on the tub wall s prior to tiling. Will give you a better idea. Also take into account any fixtures you may put in such as a shampoo/soap shelf. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. I ve also have down 100s of tub surrounds. GL
- Q: how many tiles will it take
- That is a VERY big kitchen!
- Q: I am putting in a wood stove and want to make a mural behind it - should I tile the board and then put it up, or tile it on the wall. I am using wall spacers and cement board. I want to make a mural of a tree - the wall is 8‘ by 3‘ - should I cover the whole wall or just the part behind the wood stove? do I need special grout?thanks for your answers
- Opinion: I would never tile anything and then try to move/install it. You will surely crack the tile or grout, even if it is on cement board. Besides, it will only make it heavier and more difficult to install. And generally, a mural will look better if it covers the entire surface... you can put neutral/fading-away-color tiles around the edges. Unless you have a plan to transition from the tile to a different non-flammable (non-painted) flat surface.
- Q: We have recently had our bathroom refitted, and tiled floor to ceiling with large ceramic tiles in a brick pattern. However now finished it is obvious that they are uneven. The tiler said it is the tiles. Is this likely or is it just a bodged job - he re-platerboarded the walls prior to tiling so they should be flat?
- From what I understand, I'd install either waterproof drywall or regular which you can then seal. You can shim the drywall out where the gap is with furring strips. This will give you a straight surface to put your tile on. This assumes the drywall butts into a corner. You can't put tile on an uneven surface as it just magnifies the unevenness. You might be able to put a molding on to cover the gap. That sounds the easiest and cheapest. Take a picture and show it to some one at a tile store or at a hardware store and they might be able to help.
- Q: hi!i hate the tiles in the house i‘ve just taken.they are blue with white dots.My landlord does not mind changes, but i can‘t afford to change the tiles.is there anything i can do o make them look different.can you paint tiles for instance?thank you for your answers
- I would make sure with your landlord about painting the tile first, He/she may have meant that he didn't mind you changing the tiles, but doesn't want them painted. If you paint them and it start peeling off, you've then left your landlord with a headache to deal with after you move out. This can lead to small claims court.
- Q: Now very popular tile 80X80 pink above the tea stains, how can effectively remove the tea stains?
- Glazed tile pollution cleaning method: For glazed tiles, the glazed layer of the brick is very dense material, colored liquid or dirty things will not penetrate into the brick body, the brick surface of the contaminants of the use of wiping water or add some cleaning spirit wipe the brick Surface can be removed from the brick surface dirt, if it is a strong sense of convex tiles, convex cracks inside the squeeze a lot of dust, then use the brush brush, and then rinse with water to remove the brick surface dirt. Tile cleaning method of tiles: For tiles, for household contaminants, the following cleaning agents can be used for cleaning: 1) Pollution type: daily cleaning Cleaning method: you can use the mop, and then use detergent, soapy water can be cleaned 2) pollution type: tea, ice cream, grease, beer Cleaning method: you can use soda solution can be cleaned. 3) Pollution type: sediment, rust, mortar Cleaning method: Use sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid solution. If it is lime, putty powder, white latex dripping brick surface, use the blade carefully scraping can be. 4) Pollution type: paint, drawing pen Cleaning method: you can use turpentine, acetone wipe, home use toothpaste also has a good decontamination effect. 5) Pollution type: soy sauce, vinegar, carbon end Cleaning method: the use of clean toilet effect is better.
- Q: Do they make that large of a difference? I am tiling my entire house, but can‘t find 1200 sq. ft. of the same tile dye number. I thought i could use different numbers in the bedroom. Is it going to be that noticable?
- Just buy a bunch of cases and mix them all up. See if theres an arrow on the back of the tile so you have them all pointed in the same direction.
- Q: My house that we moved into has the original small tiled ugly green floor in the bathroom. I would love not having to rip it up and replace it before we sell it this spring. Is it possible to paint the tile. And if so how or where do I go to learn how to do this.Thanks.
- There okorder / it recommends not using floor tile paint in places such as bathrooms where there is moisture. I guess you could paint the floor a week or two before putting it on the market - a case of buyer beware if it all scrapes off 6 months later - but the paint is quite expensive so I wouldn't personally go down this route myself - as it's not a nice thing to happen for the unsuspecting buyers. I'm guessing that currently the floor is more of an eyesore as you haven't integrated this into your current bathroom design? Personally, I would ditch the painting idea and buy a decent off-cut of lino and cover up the old floor tiles since you only have a small area to work with. Lino nowadays comes in many guises/patterns and since it's a small area you can check all local companies for offcuts of perhaps the more expensive pseudo 'wood' type lino etc... You may spend ?50 but it will brighten the room and transform it into a more modern look - and ultimately will help you get your asking price. (You could also tell the buyers that the original green tiles are still underneath and they could reveal them if they wanted to...just don't tell them how ugly they are...the secret is to get them excited about new possibilities in the future!!) LOL Fingers crossed that your house sells quickly in the Spring. xx
