Q: The existing ceramic tiles on the floor run up to the cabinets and appliances. Should I lay the floor first and then the cabinets or the cabinets first?
you would want to lay your tile floor first. your base cabinets are 21inches to the toekick so measure off the wall about 18inches do not tile the 18inches saves tile and easier to install cabinets if you have to cut the bottom of the cabinet. as far as your appliances are conserned, tile the fridge to the wall and stove and dishwasher only one tile under it. you wont see past the tile and you put plywood the rest of the way. easier to install your stoves' anti tip into the wood rather than tile. your dishwasher will slide right into place and would be easy to take out if you have to repair it.
Q: This is what I need some information on. I decided to put some floor tile in front of my door in my living room where some carpet is. So what size should I cut out of the carpet where I‘m going to put the tile ? If you have any advice how I should go about this just let me know. You no something like the dos as well as the don‘ts
if you have a grinder use it to smooth out the cement or at least scrape it down with heavy scraper. This is something that your professional installer guy should have done when he poured your pan. you need it smooth surface to lay the tile. I'm assuming your laying 1 or 2 tiles with the pan sloping to the drain. If you have any chuncks on the pan it will make you tile look bad and won't set properly.
Q: Do I want to use the concavity of a marble tiles to make a TV backdrop, right? Help designers,
Or very good, I went to see the last one is about 700 it, the store should have activities, the last sister-in-law with the use of decorative convex stone, tropical rain forest? Or rice. The Can not remember.
Q: I got thisAmerican Florim tile about a year ago and can‘t remember if was Terra cotta tile. Does it look like it to you? If so it is 320 square ft of Terra cotta 18 tile. 5 or so tiles are broken on the corners.
Chances are good that the tile was purchased locally by either the tile installer or the builder. If I were in your shoes, I would take the pictures to your local flooring businesses and let them identify it for you. Chances are good that you can still get the same tile in the same shade since it is only a year old. To save some time, call around to make sure that the flooring businesses in your area carry ceramic tile before you spend your hard earned gas money visiting them. Good luck with your project.
Q: Would like to tile my bathroom floor. House is on a slab, bathroom has existing laminate flooring.1. Do I need to remove the laminate flooring or can I tile on top of it?2. Do I need to install a backer board first?3. Any tips I need when tiling around toilet plumbing and reinstalling the toilet?
Absolutely cannot tile atop laminate. Neither ceramic or vinyl tile can go atop a laminate. You said your on a slab so you can bond right to that normally . You won t know what you ll need as far as to treat the slab until you pull stool and laminate. Stool should go right back on w/ a wax ring if laminate is down now. I don t chance it. I get the slightly higher wax ring w/ a sleeve when I re install a stool. When tiling around a stool flange just cut/nip the tile almost up to it, you have almost an inch of play. Any questions e mail me direct thru my avatar and check my qualifications there GL
Q: How to choose bathroom tiles
Recently, the full glass fossil (porcelain polished tiles) is very hot, but the market sales of polished tiles quality level is missing. Choose the polished tiles, the first time in a good light to observe the surface of the brick body whether there is color, leakage throwing, scratches, cracks, collapse edge, missing angle and color dirty and other defects; in the room will be polished as a "mirror" Use, observe the mirror effect, mirror strong sense of polished tiles; with your fingers sandwiched tiles feet up, knocking the middle and lower tiles, the sound crisp and sweet, with metal sound quality tiles better, its high density, good sintering , And the sound rough and boring, the lower the sintering degree makes the density of small, poor quality; can also be used to scratch the surface of hard objects brick, if there is scratches, surface glaze deficiency, poor quality. PS: Of course, before the scratch to obtain the consent of the owner. High-quality polished tiles with a strong mirror effect tips 4 color clever ride It seems that most of the furniture in the bathroom wall tiles have chosen to white-based tiles, add up to a few pieces of painted brick as a decoration. Such a boring bathroom you look tired? In fact, the bathroom selection of tiles, in the color as long as attention to simple, bright, so boldly add some red, orange, blue and other fancy tiles with the use. For example, smoke and other dark tiles, you can stretch the overall visual effects of the bathroom, there is a small space for the big beauty, but the color is too resolute, cold, some avant-garde young people tend to this.
Q: I have ceramic tile in my bathroom and I don‘t like it. It‘s extra slippery and very cold in the winter. Yes I do use a rug but the parts that are exposed are cold. I want to put those peel-n-stick tiles on top of them, but what do I have to do to prepare the floor if it‘s even possible to do this? Thanks in advance for any tips and advice!
Go shopping for new tile, then hire the contractor to teat off old tile , and install new ones. You can install electric heated floor under your new tile too (keeps floor warm with little usage of energy) Depending on where do you live (and how big a bathroom is) - cost of labor will be somewhere from 3 - 6 $ per square foot (but not less than 400) heated floor - around 400 plus $5-8 per square foot.
Q: we‘re moving into a new home that has hot pink ceremic tile as the kitchen counter top and back splash. Can we paint over the tile or do we need to remove the tile and start over with a new counter top.
You don't want to paint over them, what you need is to have them refinished or reglazed. this will cost about 30% of tile installation and would be the most economical in the long run. Refinishing the tiles would allow them to last 15-20 years with proper maintenance. Search your area for a tile refinisher/reglazer. Refinishing takes a manner of hours and they should be done in about 4 hours or so. You will be able to use the counters in 24 hours. It really is the only way to go, don't bother reinstalling tile, just have it glazed a color you are happy with! The contractor will be able to match any color you want, so this would be the best deal for your kitchen on a limited budget.
Q: iv just had tile laid on my bathroom floor, they are a rough slate type, There is grout still on then and i cant get it off, can anyone help plz
From dirt and dust to the hairsprays, soaps and shampoos used within the confines of your bathroom dirt can easily stick around for awhile. While tile floors are nice to look at when they're clean and sparkling, it doesn't take much to sully them. Dirt and grime trapped between the tiles and marring the appearance of the grout can make your entire bathroom feel unclean. Keeping your tile bathroom floor is essential not only for keeping your bathroom looking nice, but for sanitary reasons as well.
Q: How are these tiles differ from each other and how to identify these?
Installing tile over concrete is the best way to install floor just make sure all the cracks are filled in with a ardex filler or even mortar smoothed out. As far as the old tile glue on just try to scrap it clean as best as possible and go from there. Also make sure u sweep and clean the area good free of dirt as best as possible.
