- If your bedroom is in the basement then tile, if not then wood. One day the home will be sold and if it's tile you will take a big hit from the buyer. Wood floors can be refinished back to almost new, tile can't. Brazilian Cherry looks great.... You can get it in 3/4 finished/un finished or engineered which has a 1/8 inch of wood on top. Also comes in composite with printed on wood grain.

- Q: and didn‘t seal the floor or grout. Now they are dirty, how can I clean them so they look new, then seal it? I have grout sealer, do I need to seal the tiles also, they look to be sort of porous?
- At Home Depot, there is a grout cleaner, you apply and wipe off. We used stain resistant frout for this reason when we did our bathroom but the cleaner does work well. When you seal it, make sure to apply lots of sealant and it wipes off the tiles themselves. You do not need to seal the tile, they should be fine.
- Q: We are buying our first home and want to do some updating but are on a budget. We are not experienced in do-it-yourself home projects but would like to try.How simple or how difficult is installing carpet tiles? We know nothing about them really.
- If you are on a budget, I would suggest, instead of tiles, which can be expensive, since they are mainly geared toward commercial uses- finding remnants. Most tiles are glued down, and as the prior person suggested would be easier for the first time when using a solid color. You will need to see what kind of glue the manufacturer suggests, or you might void any warranty issue that could arise in the future.

The second set of tile looks like it was put in back in the seventies but doesn‘t match the original tile at all, what would be the best way to change the color other than replacing it. - You okorder ...as for safely cleaning the tile surfaces, try white vinegar, or use a product like Lime-Away
- Q: and if so, can I just put the tile on top of the sanded laminate counter top?
- You can, but it is not recommended. Your tile cuts would need to be almost perfect in order to not look bad. Then you need to silicone caulk around the sink to prevent water damage to the original counter top.
