Q: I have a 2003 Ford Focus. All of my tires are p185/65r14 - the other day i hit a bad pothole and my rim is slightly bent causing my tire to slowly and steadily deflate. I went to pull a part and got a rim that will fit my car and want to put my tire on the new rim. looking at the tire on the new rim it is p195/65r15. is there a chance that my old tire will fit on the new rim? or should i get a new tire? the tire is relatively new - only about a year old. now, if i should get a new tire, will it affect my car with one tire slightly larger than the other?thanks!
All four tires have to be the exact same size. Period. This is a must. Otherwise you will have handling, control, stability and safety issues. Stay with your 185-6514's all the way around. If your tire is not damaged, simply place it on the new rim. But obviously, if the tire is damaged and/or significantly worn, it should be replaced. Again, all for tires need to be the exact same size for your automobile to drive properly and safely.
Q: I need your opinion on goodyear weatherhanders tires and goodyear intergity tires. please give as much detail with experience as possible. thanks
self explanatory. four wheels being driven at same time distributing power to each wheel. in 2 wheel mode will deselect ( unless continuos drive) and allow just two wheels to be driven. normally rear but can be just front two. standard two wheel drive is very common for most cars and simply has engine driving front or rear pair of wheels only.
Q: What is the meaning of the 91V above the car tires?
91v is the load factor and tire speed, indicating that the tire load 615 kg; speed of not more than 240 km per hour.
Q: i am looking for emergency tire repairs
Go to a Autozone or Pep Boys and invest $10 into a good Tire plug kit and another $20 into a portable car air compressor(just a small one that'll fit under your seat or in your trunk make sure it has a cigarette lighter adapter) and make sure your factory installed car jack is in your trunk as well as a tire iron $5 for a good one. you'll be able to fix a flat any where any time. I've actually pulled over a few times to help other motorists and sometimes they'll give me like $20 just for helpin out. It's always a good idea to have a small 3" Maglight brand flashlight and a sharp pocket knife (those razor pocket knifes you get at Home Depot and Lowes work fine) in your glove box. You'd be surprised how many times they come in handy.
Q: Having problems with brand new car tires. Any time the temperature falls I have to put air in my tires. what can be causing this problem. My wife who also has new tires it‘s having the same problem is not all the tires, just certain ones. are they defective?
No, I doubt that the tires are defective. The ideal gas law says that as temperature decreases either volume or pressure decreases. The volume in a tire is fixed (approximately) thus the pressure decreases with changes in temperature. I commend you check your tire pressure regularly and adjust them as temperature changes. Tires work and wear best if they are adjusted to the recommended tire pressure by the manufacturer. I just completed that task on my vehicles this morning since it has turned colder in the last couple of days. Had to add air to all of them to compensate for the change. In the spring, will have to let some air out as temperatures warm back up. Not sure why not all the tires were affected. Could be that the tire pressure was not equal in all of them to begin with. I couldn't afford it but did spend extra for a highly accurate tire pressure gauge and haven't seen that problem since. I believe that tire pressures are to be measured at cold (meaning ambient) temperatures rather than warming them up.
Q: I am really tired.
Tired, sick, and my 16 year old dog died today. I'm basically a country song today.
Q: Can car tires add nitrogen? what is the benefit?
Car tires can be added with nitrogen. The benefits of car tires plus nitrogen: nitrogen is inert gas, the nature of very lively, gas molecules than oxygen molecules, not hot up cold shrinkage, deformation range. Its penetration of the tire sidewall speed slower than the air 30-40%, to maintain tire pressure stability. Nitrogen audio conduction is low, equivalent to 1/5 of the air, the use of nitrogen can effectively reduce the tire noise, improve the speed of travel. Compared with the general high-pressure air, high purity nitrogen because of oxygen and almost no moisture and oil, its thermal expansion coefficient is low, low thermal conductivity, slow temperature, reducing the speed of tire heat collection, non-flammable and non-combustion characteristics, So that the probability of puncture is effectively reduced. Plus nitrogen tires, moisture content is less, so the aluminum alloy steel ring and iron ring is not easy to rust, corrosion, the tire is not easy to oxidation.
Q: How aviation tires differ from automotive tires in general?
Most airplane tires are not rated for mud snow.
Q: I came across some tire‘s today and the size on the tire reads 220/55/390 what kind of tire size is this and what type of vehicle do they go on?
I believe these are the old Michelin TRX tires that fit mid-80's Ford Mustang GT's and a few BMW's - the 635i if I recall correctly. It was an experiment in pure metric sizing that Michelin hoped the rest of the industry would follow. They didn't. Michelin still rolls batches of the old TRX off the line every few years which are sold through Coker Tire for a very hefty fee. But since nothing else fits those rims.
