- Q: Cos chiffon looks so fragile, and I‘m scared that if I iron it, it would . burn? Thank you
- For the best answers, search on this site shorturl.im/ayjr4 I have several and there are a couple of problems with washing them with water. One is that they tend to shrink, another is that they bleed, fade and color transfer depending on the dye that was used. Almost every one requires steaming or ironing after wet washing because they wrinkle terribly. I have found using the at home in dryer dry cleaning kit avoids most of those problems. To keep them from shrinking, I use the air dry setting so they are not subjected to high heat. I still steam or touch up iron the garment after treatment, but I like mine to look perfect.
- Q: i‘ve been tracking my food intake lately and I‘ve noticed that the only nutrient I‘m low in is iron. I only get like 50% of the recommended amount. I want to start getting the right amount before I become really anemic (I‘m already slightly anemic, just not enough for it to be a real problem). I‘d prefer to get iron my real foods, instead of just taking another supplement (i take a multivitamin, but it only has 25% iron). So.what are some VEGAN foods that are high in iron?
- One thing you'll need to remember is that Iron is found in food in two forms, heme and non-heme iron. Heme iron, which makes up 40 percent of the iron in meat, poultry, and fish, is well absorbed. Non-heme iron, 60 percent of the iron in animal tissue and all the iron in plants (fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts) is less well absorbed. Vegan diets only contain non-heme iron. Because of this, iron recommendations are higher for vegetarians (including vegans) than for non-vegetarians. The RDA for iron is 14 milligrams per day for vegetarian men and for women after menopause, and 33 milligrams per day for women prior to menopause. A great way to absorb Non-heme iron better is to eat it with Vitamin C (citrus). Some of the higher sources of Iron are: Soybeans, cooked 1 cup - 8.8 mg Blackstrap molasses 2 Tbsp - 7.2 mg Lentils, cooked 1 cup - 6.6 mg Spinach, cooked 1 cup - 6.4 mg Quinoa, cooked 1 cup - 6.3 mg Tofu 4 ounces - 6.0 mg Bagel, enriched 3 ounces - 5.2 mg Tempeh 1 cup - 4.8 mg Lima beans, cooked 1 cup - 4.4 mg Swiss chard, cooked 1 cup - 4.0 mg
- Q: Every time I have a menstrual period I lose a lot of blood, and my iron and blood amount are low. My doctor said changing my diet won‘t help and I need supplements, but I have a phobia of iron pills and liquids. Will my iron and blood levels get lower every time I have my period? Also my past 2 menstrual periods have come 2 weeks early, will that also affect the iron problem?
- I am anemic so my iron is naturally low, when I get my period its extremely low. You need to ask yourself, are you increasingly tired when you#x27;re on your period? If so you more than likely have an iron deficiency. I take a multivitamin every morning which has 100% of the iron my body needs daily, on top of that I take another 50% to keep my anemia in control. Without the iron in my body I would be drowsy or napping all day. There is nothing wrong with taking your daily dose of iron, after a couple days of building the iron back up in your body you#x27;ll feel more energized and won#x27;t want to go a day without taking your iron. Give it a chance, its not a drug its a natural vitamin your body just can#x27;t produce enough of so help you and your body out :-). I hope this helped.
- Q: I‘m a teenage girl and I‘m almost positive I have an iron deficiency, or anemia, or whatever.I get tired all the time, I‘m unusually pale, I have trouble walking a flight of stairs (I‘m not obese, my weight is normal for my height), and I can sleep for 10 hours but wake up as tired as I was before. How many milligrams of iron should I take? I heard if you take too many it can lead to death. and should I consult a doctor before doing so?
- Iron deficiency is the most common mineral deficiency in women. The best source of iron is obtained from eating meats (Heme-Iron sources). Vitamin C also helps with absorbing Iron especially if you don't eat much meat and get your iron from other foods (Non-Heme Iron). Then your last option would be an iron supplement, but that is never the most effective to get any vitamins or minerals. Here is website with some good iron sources and more information. You should consult your doctor if don't feel better. www.mckinley.illinois.edu/Handouts/dietary_sources_iron.html
- Q: I burned clothes while ironing on some occasions and the iron has buildup on the soleplate because of this. How do I remove it? I‘m using a steam iron. Thanks!
- Place a course damp cloth over your ironing board, and rub your iron over this. This will lift of the stain?s from the sole-plate
