- Q: The back of my jacket has a double pleat (like an invisible expansion) that has folded open on one side. I‘m trying to figure out how to make it lie flat again. An iron? OR?
- As the previous members have said - do not iron your leather jacket. What you can do is to block it or press it. Arrange your coat on a clean, stable, flat surface cover it with a cloth or towel place a flat weighted object over the pleat. Use something like a dictionary of phone book. Check to make sure it isn't too heavy and creating another line or crease elsewhere. Leave the weight on for about 30 minutes to an hour. If this doesn't work, consult a dry cleaner who can clean leather clothing. You may have to have it cleaned and professionally blocked.
- Q: i need to know what foods to eat so i can build up my iron levels
- Liver is the highest in Iron, but not everybody likes liver. Beef has a high amount of iron and so does shrimp. can't really remember what else but if you do a google search you should be able to find a list.
- Q: im doing a science fair project on which cereal has the most iron. im using multi grain cheerios, frosted mini wheats(strawberry delight), rice krispies, and trix. ive tried it but i dont have a laboratory scale to weigh the iron. is there any other way i could get the amount of iron?? and what would be a great title for this project.
- Interesting fact: the iron in cereals is actually present in a form that makes it unable to be absorbed by the human digestive system. The iron is present as the pure element rather than an ionic form, so despite eating lots and lots of iron fortified cereals you are probably absorbing little to none of it. Also, to benefit your project you can actually extract the iron from the cereal. Grind the cereal into a fine powder - a mortar and pestle is probably the best thing - and wash it in water to dissolve/disintegrate the cereal and separate it form the iron. Then stir a magnet into the cereal-water and it should collect the iron. Alternatively (and more easily!) read the nutrition labels on the packet. It should tell you how much iron is present per 100g.
- Q: can i iron a silk tie?
- iron it on a low setting and if you want put a tissue over it and then iron it! :)
- Q: what is zero-valent iron??
- The term zero-valent seems to mean an iron atom with an oxidation number equal to zero. That would seem to be iron atom in its elemental state before losing any of its electrons. Of course elemental iron atom can react with any nonmetallic atom losing either two or three of its electrons and becoming an ion with a charge of either 2+ or 3+.
- Q: will i gen iron poisining
- The recommended daily intake of iron is 8mg for men and 18mg per day for women age 19-50. Although 56mg is a bit high, toxic doses usually begin at 20mg per kg of body weight. So, for a 140 lb. person, that would be 2800mg of iron, and that is a conservative value. It would most likely take more than that to be lethal. You will be ok, assuming you do mean 56mg and not 56g!! that would be extremely dangerous.
- Q: I know you can get over the top drugs such as Vitamins and Iron is one of those over the top drugs and I was wondering if it would be ok if I took iron pills even though I havent seen a doctor? I don‘t see how it would be harmful considering there sold over the top. The reason why I want to take them is because my symptoms match the symptoms of anemia perfectly.
- It would be much better if you consider taking a good multi vitamin instead of taking an iron pill (some thing like Centrum is great) Iron pills are naturally OK but in some cases they can poison you if it is high in iron concentration. There fore a good multi vitamin is great because it has some thing of every thing which your body needs (meaning all the essential vitamins and minerals) I am anemic and my doctor lets me take this multi vitamin cause iron pills tend to make my tummy ache
- Q: What is the iron curtain?how can i draw a political cartoon on it?
- The iron curtain was a name for the area that separated the communist nations of Europe and the non-communist nations of Europe, that was given by Winston Church Hill in 1946. It divided Eastern Europe (in which they were communist allies to the Soviet Union) It was used to stop the spread of soviet expansion and communism. It really depends on what period your doing. If your doing the fall of the Iron Curtain in the late 1980's and the early 1990's. These are approximate dates, but it could be people who are reaching out from behind a wall or something similar to the iron curtain. Maybe you can have it being put up by politicians in Eastern Europe during the mid-1940's. Like I said before. It depends on what time period your doing.
- Q: 1.How is iron used in medicine? 2.What is its atomic symbol?and last.3.Why did people switch from using bronze to using iron? That would help alot!Thanks-J
- Iron is used as a dietary supplement for some types of anemia. Fe Iron is stronger, less brittle, and holds a sharp edge better than bronze.
