Ferro Silicon(FeSi) is a co-product of Brown Fused Alumina during fusion,so also called Brown Fused Alumina Slag. During fusion of aluminum oxide based bauxite, heavy elements in the electric arc furnace goes down to bottom of the furnace. After cooling down, they become silver/grey ores which contain Ferro and Silicon. In our industry, we call them Brown Fused Alumina Slag.
After crushing and sizing, it's made into different grits suitable for steel making industry as media separation or sink float process to remove oxygen from high quality steel or cast iron. Main users of FeSi are producers of alloyed, carbon or stainless steel.
According to content of Ferro, we make mainly 2 quality: 72% Ferro FeSi and 80% Ferro FeSi.

If you just want to purify them, most ore sites worth exploiting do already have a company with a claim to the site sitting on top of it. Though if you ask nicely they might give you a shovel full. the easiest and cheapest place to find metal is at a scrap yard...

- I would agree that they are Nu-metal, which, as a sub-genre of Metal, makes them Metal. Metalheads, more than all others, love to nitpick about subgenres and argue about what metal subgenre certain bands and songs fall into.

- Yes, mainly the band Ministry from Chicago, Ill. (started in the USA. Hey how 'bout that, eh?) in the early/mid 80's, KMFDM, <PIG> and a few others came later in the late 80's. The genre itself exploded during the 90's and is still going strong today for those in the know.
