Exfoliated expanded vermiculite introduction :
Vermiculite is a layer-structured metamorphic rock of gibbsite silicate. Rich in magnesium, it comes from hot-liquid-eroded or weathered phlogopite. When it is heated to lose water and expands, lt turns curvingas a leech. Therefore is called vermiculite.lt can be divide into original vermiculite and expanded vermiculite. color it can also be divided into golden vermiculite and white vermiculite.
Exfoliated expanded vermiculite physical and chemical quota :
Being differently hydrated and oxidation, the same vermiculite may have different chemical compositions .Generally, its chemical compositions are as follows:

Exfoliated expanded Vermiculite Main Use and Functions:
Jinli Minerals is the first in North China to set up an advanced digital thermostat to cool, select, winnow and grade its products .Jinli has produced and developed many products ,which have such advantages as lighter, easy to reduce high-temperature recession heat and cold and corrosion resistant, better ventilation and water preservation , poisonousless and odorless, low hardness, burning-avoidance.
It has already been used in many fields like construction materials ,heat-resistant materials ,sheet materials costing painting painting rubber, agriculture, forestry, nursery gardening ,forage, cultivation ,pharmacy, fricition and sealing, metallurgy, etc.
- Q: is soil still good after it dries out. (the kind that comes in a bag with the little white things in it)?
- Hi Ashmita The mixing of different soils is one of the recommendations made by Mel Bartholomew and used by square foot gardeners all over the world. The thinking behind it is to ensure a balanced blend of nutrients for the plants. Perlite or vermiculite is added to the mixture to increase the water holding capacity of the soil and therefore make water easily available to the plants. As far as adding hormones is concerned, I suppose it would depend on which hormones are added. A lot of people make a tea out of Alfalfa, a grass which includes a natural growth regulator hormone called Triacontanol. Some people swear by the benefits of this organic tea so again, it will depend on which hormones are added. I don't know why you are asking this question unless you have seen someone mixing soils or talking about it but it seems to work very well for square foot gardeners. You can read all about it by typing Square Foot Gardening into a search engine. I hope this helps you Johnny
- Q: So I am going to attempt to cultivate mushrooms... I was wondering if I could buy perlite and vermiculite at Wal-Mart?Also, are small mason jars hard to come by?
- I used vermiculite. There is a good article on this on okorder
- Q: Buying a house and we love it! One problem there is vermiculite in the attic used for insulation. It is now said that it has a 50% chance of having asbestos. How do i remove it safely?
- Stem cuttings are rooted in water or a moist potting medium such as sand, peat moss, or vermiculite.
- Q: flowerpot grill: can i use clay to sub for sand as insulation?
- I would not use the clay soil since the heat from the grilling would tend to fire it and you might end up with a solid mass welded to the inside of the thing. Also, you want a dry material, not a wet one to insulate. Dry materials have different thermal properties than wet ones. Heating wet material would cause steam expansion with possibly unfortunate results. Rather than risk having an explosion involving hot coals and shards of pot, I would strongly suggest that you stick to the recommended materials. A bag of sand is cheap -- a lot cheaper than a trip to the emergency room.
- Q: But I want to start planting my own food and such. And I don‘t know when the season to start planting
- Hi Heather, Gary said he mentioned to you. Drop me an email, I can help you out.
- Q: When I purchased the hairy little fellow he? was living in a glass aquarium with only a shallow dish of water, and shallow layer of dry rabbit pellets for bedding. I brought him home about a week and a half ago. I kept him on the same bedding until today. After research I mixed 50 / 50 horticultural vermiculite and potting soil. He is now literally climbing the walls and seems to really dislike the new bedding. What have I missed? I'm afraid that he will fall off glass walls and get hurt if he continues to keep climbing like this (he never once did this before today's change of bedding) and he rejected it immediately after being put back into tank.Any insights are appreciated!
- Most breeders, myself included, use vermiculite. Others prefer perlite. Both are available at most garden centers. I don't recommend incubating your eggs in soil or sand.
- Q: Hey, I was wondering. Are Sugar Maple Trees cold hardy? Meaning if you collect seeds in late summer or early fall and stratify them for 3 months. Will they grow while it‘s still winter out? I know normally the go dormant during winter but I‘m talking about growing from seed.I have some seeds stratifying in the refrigerator now and they‘ll probably be ready about Nov 1. I collected them last week and the seeds were a yellowish green and the wings were brown. I soaked them for 24 hours and stuck the in a bag with a mixture of Vermiculite and Peat. So, will the seeds grow during winter if kept in a greenhouse? I live in zone 5 and it sometimes gets down to the single digits or zero during a normal winter. Please let me know. Please don‘t answer with poetry. Thanks.
- Maple seeds in the wild in places like Vermont have to survive temperatures like this so I would expect yours to also.
- Q: Hi there,My iguana laid a batch of 20 eggs at 2am this morning. I just want to double check at what temperature I should incubate them and for what period of time. Please help. as much answers as possible. Thanking you in advance.
- they should incubate at 84-87F for around 90 days use 50/50 mix of vermiculite and water to make a incubation medium. If your female has not been mated in the past month or so the eggs are not fertile and should be thrown out. A female iggy will lay eggs yearly even with no male around signs of fertile eggs. Oval shape, Large, firm to touch, dry feeling. if they get soft, dents, mold they are infertile
- Q: Tell me what you know about growing amaryllis from seed?
- It takes a long time for them to bloom. Like four or five years. When they first come up, they look like a small sprig of St. Augustine grass. The only good reason to grow amaryllis from seed is if you want to cross-pollinate two different varities to produce a new type of flower. Otherwise buy the bulbs of your choice and enjoy them next year instead of in 2012.
- Q: How can the new vermiculite be treated?
- It depends on whether you buy vermiculite, vermiculite or swelling vermiculite. When you buy the vermiculite raw materials, you can grow flowers and mix them in the ground with the soil and other fertilizers. Expanded vermiculite is finished and can be used directly without further treatment.
