Exfoliated expanded vermiculite introduction :
Vermiculite is a layer-structured metamorphic rock of gibbsite silicate. Rich in magnesium, it comes from hot-liquid-eroded or weathered phlogopite. When it is heated to lose water and expands, lt turns curvingas a leech. Therefore is called vermiculite.lt can be divide into original vermiculite and expanded vermiculite. color it can also be divided into golden vermiculite and white vermiculite.
Exfoliated expanded vermiculite physical and chemical quota :
Being differently hydrated and oxidation, the same vermiculite may have different chemical compositions .Generally, its chemical compositions are as follows:

- Q: Is better draining soil in pots needed for growing my vegetable garden in? (As Im use to be American living in Ohio)
- If you're using potting mix, you don't need to ad vermiculite. The texture will be fine for containers. The nutrients last months. Most fox farm soil products use bat guano for the fertilizer. There's no precise calculation. I'd say, 2-6 months. If you're concerned about precision, you can always test the soil after 3-4 months. I start feeding my potted plants about 6 months after potting them up with fresh soil, as they never seem wanting in the period, and I'm a tightwad with my additives. For things growing in the ground, I add compost once a year. Twice for certain heavy feeders.
- Q: can i use sepiolite in my bearded dragon tank?
- No, bearded dragons like arid enviroments. sepiolite i believe is supposed hold moisture like vermiculite. Use dry bedding like crushed walnut shells or cypress mulch. if you plan on breeding and incubating eggs then vermiculite or sepiolite would work great to keep the eggs moist.
- Q: I have some wet Perlite that I would like to dry out to store. I would like to know if it is safe to dry out in my kitchen oven. Or will it create toxic fumes?
- O.k., this officially the best question I've seen in Y!a in quite a while! So, my official answer is, probably. Or maybe. But, there is enough doubt to never use it. There are more than enough alternatives. This also goes for things like polyvinyl chloride(PVC). Its not legal in the U.S. To use for applications that raise the temps over 70° I think, because of offgassing. CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride), is a much safer option. For eggs, make your mixture from perlite, or just purchase HatchRite. Do a search.
- Q: Can vermiculite fertilize any seed?
- I prefer to use Perlite, but vermiculite works as well. You can also order a new product called, Hatchrite that is supposed to be damp and ready to go.....but I haven't used it personally. Whichever medium you choose, make sure it is damp enough to clump together when squeezed tightly in your hand, but not wet enough so that water will drip out when squeezed. At one time, they had issues with asbestos-not glass dust-in vermiculite, but that is no longer a problem. Both vermiculite and Perlite are commonly available WITHOUT additives, all you have to do is look. Check with ANY reputable breeder, and they will tell you the same. I have used Perlite since I began raising reptiles, and it has worked wonderfully.
- Q: I put a bunch of vermiculite (that is probably spelled wrong.) in a pot and then watered it down until the water was as deep as the vermiculite, then dipped the stems of the clippings in some root growth powder and stuck the stems in the vermiculite, I don't think the leaves were touching the wet vermiculite, but after a little over a weak the clippings were basicly reduced to slime... what went wrong?? was there to much water for them??? Was the vermiculite to much for the leaves?? I know that their leaves are very sensitive to water on them, but I am pretty sure they weren't touching the vermiculite/water mix. :S

- Q: my turtles that are both 5 years old breed 2 weeks ago and i can now see an egg at each side of her legs sticking out is it about 1 month before she lays them and yes ive got a nest set up etc
- Depends on the size of the turtle. You have at least three days, unless it is very young or already sick. More for a larger one. I had one escape. I decided since Easter was Sunday to hide plastic eggs and off a special prize to whoever found the turtle! My husband found it, so I got to keep my gift card. But, it might be an idea if you know some kids to have a little party and let them hunt for it. Until then, leave out water and a snack. Also, let the house get really quiet and listen for it to move. Live well and do good.
- Q: hello.i am thinking about getting a pet tarantula.i have been wanting one for the past year.and i think it is about time get one.So I have never owned a pet tarantula before just rats, cats, dogs, guinea pigs, lizards. What is a good breed for a beginner.and what are the basic care guides.and i am not looking for a pet to cuddle and handle all the time.so i know that most you shouldnt handle and if so a very little.so please and thankyou.:D
- Pet tarantulas are cool spiders, but beware of the poison.
- Q: i have a baby gecko - not older than a few months, and she just layed eggs, like an hour ago D:i made an incubator a while back, and i dont know why but i just turned it on today (lucky eh)its basically a lunchbox with a cricket box with damp vermiculite inside. its at about 85F now.lt;since my gecko is only a baby herself, i‘m aware they probably arent fertile, but stillgt;she layed them on top of the laying box i gave her, but one of the eggs was stuck tight onto it - anything i can do about this?(i wasnt sure, so i cut out that bit of the lid with the egg and and put that in the incubator)nowhere i looked says anything about the humidity in the incubator, so does anyone have any ideas about that too?and is there anything i can feed my little gecko to get her back upto strength - she‘s too small for pinkies. Thanks :)

- Q: How many methods of expansion of vermiculite?
- . The expansion of vermiculite was fine particle structure of thin laminations, filled with air, so they have low thermal conductivity, thermal expansion coefficient of vermiculite tears is generally 0.07-0.07w/m.k, under normal temperature condition (temperature range of 20-30 degrees) technology performance of thermal conductivity and particle size and bulk density of expanded vermiculite between. Product specifications. The refractoriness of expanded vermiculite is 1300-1350 degrees, and the safe service temperature is -30 ~ 1100 degrees. Swelling vermiculite, some moisture absorption rate is small, in the relative humidity of 100% in the environment, after 24 hours, the moisture absorption rate is generally not greater than 2%.
- Q: 2 Western Fence Lizards. One female, naturally. She doesn't seem to be showing any physical signs of being gravid--she's usually been just fat is all. I haven't felt any eggs under her belly, although she is getting a little more plump. However, I'm seeing some digging FAR more often than usual. And she's not trying to get in wherever she's digging. So I think she's trying to lay eggs. Whether or not they will come out OK is another story. What I have at the moment:Repti-Fresh sandZilla Jungle MixEverything else is accounted for. I have the right kind of box to put her in. Is plain sand okay for a lay box, or do I need something that holds moisture like vermiculite? I know you need that for the incubator, but I don't know much about the lay box.
- I used vermiculite for my ball pythons, as instructed by various local breeders. This substrate worked well for me (4 seasons). The only thing is I find vermiculite tends to stick to the hatchlings. I've been told that perlite doesn't have this effect. I know a breeder who produces Leo's, Cresteds, and Gargs. She uses SuperHatch. Apparently it changes color from brick red to pink as the moisture evaporates, and is infinitely reusable. Never used it or heard much else from said product, though. Whatever is available to you, I guess. I've heard good things about all three. Familiarize yourself with whatever substrate you choose. You should be good with any, realistically. Take care.
