- Q: I just bought a new set of clubs and in the set were two hybrid clubs. are they better than irons or are the irons a better choice to use?
- I would replace with the same tire brand so you don't have weird steering issues. Shop around for the same tires see who can beat the $203 deal you got before installed.
- Q: is overdose of iron chloride in vitamin tablets poisonous or harmful in any way to the body? if so, what is the percentage of overdose?
- It's the iron which is the toxin here rather than the chloride ion. Iron causes loads of poisoning events. When ingested it first would make you very sick but then you would suddenly seem OK. However, within a short period after, your bloodstream would be carrying the absorbed iron around this would cause imbalances damage to the organs. There was even an episode of ER with an iron poisoning storyline. Good info below.
- Q: Ok so, to my knowledge, plants contain non-heme iron, which is hard for the body to absorb. However, vit c helps with the absorption (some say, the combination makes for even better absorption than heme iron) so I was thinking about kale because its a major part a my daily diet, and I thought great, it has both vit c and iron!.until I later read that calcium (which kale is loaded with) can interfere with the absorption of non-heme iron so would the calcium void the benefits from the vit c/iron combo?
- According to the AJCN, it does. They recommend you wait two hours after eating an iron rich meal to eat a high calcium food. See link. Good catch on your part, BTW. That's something most of us never think about.
- Q: I‘m becoming a vegetarian so I need to know good sources of iron (and protein and vitamin B12) so I get a good amount. Thanks.
- There is NO plant based source of B12. None. Protein is easiest to get as all veggies, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and legumes contain protein. As long as you eat a wide and varied diet you will get plenty of protein. Iron is a little more difficult as plant based iron isn't absorbed as well as meat iron. Spinach is a good source but must be cooked and served with a vitamin C food to aid in absorption. Whole wheat cereals are also good sources but also must be served with a vitamin C food. Beans are a good source of iron too. Basically, again if you eat a wide and varied diet you should be fine unless you skip beans, hate greens and have bought into the whole gluten free nonsense.
- Q: what is zero-valent iron??
- The term zero-valent seems to mean an iron atom with an oxidation number equal to zero. That would seem to be iron atom in its elemental state before losing any of its electrons. Of course elemental iron atom can react with any nonmetallic atom losing either two or three of its electrons and becoming an ion with a charge of either 2+ or 3+.
- Q: what can I not eat taking iron pills and why is that so?
- If you are asking about the risks for taking iron supplements, you should know that taking too much iron is not good and even dangerous esp. if you are male. And if you are just a kid, you may actually die from iron poisoning. This is why there is no iron in vitamins for kids. Anyway, it is important to know that iron cannot be flushed out of the body except through bloodletting (i.e., donating blood) and menstruation. This means that men, kids and menopausal women are at risk from iron overload.
- Q: How many percentage of iron is found in hemoglobin?
- About 67 percent of body iron is present as hemoglobin and myoglobin. Hemoglobin, which is present in red blood cells, is essential for transferring oxygen from the lungs, via the blood, to the tissues; myoglobin is present in muscle cells and accepts, stores, transports and releases oxygen in the muscles. About six percent of body iron is used as a component of certain proteins (it forms part of the cytochromes, which are essential for respiration and energy metabolism), and as a component of certain enzymes it is involved in the synthesis of collagen and various neurotransmitters. In addition, iron is needed for proper immune function. About 25 percent of the iron in the body is stored as ferritin, which is found in cells and circulates in the blood. The average adult male has about 1,000 mg of stored iron (enough for about three years), whereas women on average have only about 300 mg (enough for about six months). When iron intake is chronically low, stores can eventually become depleted, decreasing hemoglobin levels.
- Q: the level of iron in normal human bieng
- Iron level test Normal serum iron values are as follows: Adult males: 75-175 micrograms/dL Adult females: 65-165 micrograms/dL Children: 50-120 micrograms/dL Newborns: 100-250 micrograms/dL
