- Q: can i iron a silk tie?
- iron it on a low setting and if you want put a tissue over it and then iron it! :)
- Q: is steel stronger than iron?
- Steel is stronger than iron. Steel is an alloy where carbon is added to iron. Iron is brittle and can break easily.
- Q: Steel can be shaped into wires sheet etc very easily.is it the same case with iron? [ pure iron]
- Sure. We used to use iron in a fairly pure form, with almost no carbon in it. It was called 'wrought iron,' and it was essentially pure iron with some fibers of slag in it, but these didn't make much of a difference in its behavior. The Eiffel Tower is made of wrought iron, as is the framework of the Statue of Liberty in the US. There are some pillars of iron in India somewhere. We could still make things out of pure iron if we wanted, but we generally don't because steel--iron with just a tiny bit of carbon added--is so much stronger, even though it rusts rather more readily than pure iron.

- Q: I am going to start taking two vitamins: One multi-vitamin, and a B-50 vitamin. They both have 100% daily value of Iron, and I read that it is bad to get too much iron. Should I still be OK? I don't get any iron in my diet, but I'm just trying to be sure.
- How is it possible that you get no iron in your diet? That would mean you eat no greens, no beans, no nuts etc. Eat normal food and you won't need vitamins
- Q: Ammonium sulfide+ iron (II) nitrate --gt; ammonium nitrate + iron (II) sulfideAnd what type of reaction are they.
- Iron+ silver acetate -- iron (II) acetate (aq) + silver (s) Fe(S) 2AgC2H3O2 (aq) -- Fe(C2H3O2)2 (aq) 2 Ag(s) this is a single replacement reaction Ammonium sulfide+ iron (II) nitrate -- ammonium nitrate + iron (II) sulfide (NH4)2S (aq) Fe(NO3)2 (aq) -- 2 NH4NO3 (aq) FeS (s) this is a double replacement reaction . p.s. a single replacment starts with a single element a single compound . produces a new single element new single compound Zn+H2SO4--ZnSO4+H2 single replacment 2KBr+Cl2--2KCI+Br2 single replacment a double replacment begins with 2 ionic compounds which switch ions , to become two new ionic compounds AgNO3+NaCI--AgCI+NaNO3 double replacment Ca(OH)2+H2SO4--CaSO4+2H2O double replacment
- Q: On the wheeloaders (payloaders) we build at the plant I work at, one of the main lift arms has the words ‘ductile iron, do not weld‘, embossed on it.Oddly enough one of the engineers at the plant could not answer my question. What is ‘ductile iron‘ and why can it not be welded?
- Ductile iron is any one of several cast iron alloys formulated and processed to eliminate the brittleness of common cast iron. The properties of this iron depend on specific heat treatment. The weld joint will have a very different thermal history from the rest of the material, and will be weaker and more brittle than the rest of the structure.
- Q: Iron gate is the deepest gorge in Erope. But i want to know where is that lcated in Euroep.?
- Iron gate located in Romania the last gorge system on the Danube River, dividinate in g the Carpathian and Balkan mountains and forming part of the boundary between Serbia and Romania Coordinate 44° 40′ 16″ N, 22° 31′ 47″ E
- Q: My iron has a crusty black build up on the heating part. When the setting is put on high, this build-up gets on my clothes. Is there anything or anyway I can clean the iron?
- Sounds like the auto start is having a brain fart, I would let someone check it before you run into worse problems
- Q: I just bought some Titleist AP 1 from someone for 200 bucks.I am assuming these irons are cast ironsI just want to know the differences. Thanks
- Forged' iron (also know as wrought iron) is different pieces of iron that are heated together at a high temperature and then pressed or hammered together. In this way, one can make a complex shape by essentially melting or welding the different parts together. 'Cast' iron consists of a mold where molten iron is poured in; the end result is much stronger, because there are no join lines that can act as fracture points. However, most molds can only accept simple shapes due to the nature of fluid dynamics within the mold. So if you want a complex shape, you need to turn to forged iron. Most iron goods are actually a mixture of the two; part cast iron, with additional forged iron components.
