- Q: These appear to be made such that one could turn it by hand. Unfortunately these are so tight I can't budge them. Maybe if I were Hercules I could, but I'm not.I've searched for the best way to remove these. I've seen a basin wrench mentioned, but these seem to be made for removing metal nuts. I haven't seen anyone mentioning using one of these for a nylon nut. Will a basin wrench work for this? If not, what tool does one use for this?
- Yes a basin wrench will work. If you want to reuse the nut be careful not to break the ears (if its the type with ears) or slip and chew up the corners of the nut with the teeth of the basin wrench. Rigid makes a special basin wrench for this type of faucet nuts found in the plumbing dept. at your home improvement store.
- Q: i have two problems.1. water is leaking out from the cold faucet. I unscrewed the plastic cover, it looks fine, but i can see the water coming out from the iron thing. I suppose the only solution is the replace the whole thing? but the whole thing seems to be glued to the sink. 2. water is dripping down under the sink around this twisted plastic tube. ( i don't know the proper name for those things.) i can see mineral kind of things accumulating around one black plastic circle kind of thing. i think that this should be an easy fix, what should I buy? should just buy that one thing or replace the whole plastice tube, etc?thanks.
- Unless this faucet is near and dear to your heart, just replace it. Be sure to replace it with a good one, because the cheap plastic ones only seem to last two or three years. Your faucet isn't glued to the countertop, it's just attached via two or three plastic nuts. You have to get directly below the faucet (where the water connections are) and you should see what you need to remove to get the old faucet off. There is a special wrench called a basin wrench that you can use or you can just use some pliers. They can be very tight and hard to remove though since you won't have much room. Be sure you turn the water off before you do any work....
- Q: What is the difference between a kitchen faucet and a basin faucet?
- Of course, two kinds of hot and cold water can be mixed, the middle with a mixing valve.
- Q: i got the old faucet off just fine, but am having trouble reconnecting the water supply. every time i try to screw it on it starts out fine when i twist it on with my fingers, but as soon as i try to tighten it further with the basin wrench both hot and cold lines screw on very crooked. after a couple of tries i thought maybe it wouldnt cause that much of a problem so after i turned them as far as they would go i turned the valves back on to see and water sprayed everywhere. what am i doing wrong?
- You cross-threaded the faucet and possibly the connecting lines. You have to replace both. Next time make sure you have the threads correctly aligned before you tighten them.
- Q: It is better to wash the faucet
- Can pull the basin faucet, easy to wash your hair, but also easy to wash the basin, items and so on. But life is not as good as ordinary basin faucet long. Must be selected when the purchase of good quality.
- Q: hey guys, im replacing a kitchen faucet for my mom right now, and Its not one of the ones where it scres in on the two side panels, it has a long threaded neck that attatches to the sink basin, how would I take this out, I tried spinning the faucet to just unscrew the threading but it pivots...
- Wow, Zwalk, I'm afraid you're going to have to do a little bit better job of describing the old faucet. If you can lay your hands on a digital camera so you can upload a couple of pic's, that would be even better. Changed a lot of faucets in my day, and I'm having a tough time coming up with a mental image of a faucet with a long threaded neck that attaches to the sink basin.
- Q: The sink fixture when installed never sealed properly and water can seep between the portion of the faucet that meets the sink basin. Just a small area - I'm not replacing the sink - just can't and won't. I had used some clear caulk around the base of the faucet fixture, but it came off after a few months: it was silicone, but in the fine print it says that it was for windows and doors (I just took the tube he handed me then left). It worked fine while it lasted, but what type would you suggest?
- the silicone should be sufficient. you may not have installed it properly. you have to make sure that the area you are sealing is clean of previous caulking. you also have to make sure that the area is very dry prior to putting the seal. then once you put the caulking on make sure you don't use the sink for 48hrs. Avoid getting it wet. It should last after that. you could also put some plumbing putty into the space then put the caulking. You might want to check under the sink if there is a way for you to tighten the faucet down to get rid of the gap.
- Q: Kitchen basin basin faucet down how to repair
- Look at the leading buds and nuts have broken off? Not broken is the faucet and the bottom of the basin at the bottom of the faucet nut tightened just fine
- Q: Hot and cold faucet how to take water pipes
- Single handle basin faucet should pay attention to the diameter of the outlet, and now most of the market belongs to the hard tube water, so should pay attention to the height of the sink, from the basin down 35 points is the most appropriate. Installation, be sure to choose a special angle valve, and the angle valve and the wall must be hot and cold water pipe fixed. When it is found that there is a distance between the angle valve and the faucet on the faucet, it is necessary to purchase a dedicated extension tube to connect. Remember, do not use other water pipes to connect, because if the water pressure, it is easy to fall off, leaking, causing losses. If the inlet pipe is too long to exceed the outlet pipe, according to the need to cut off the part of the angle is not appropriate, then according to the need to moderate to the desired position. Remember: do not bend hard to 90 degrees or greater than 90 degrees. When installing the basin to the water, please do not forget to buy a small interface (leading short). Do not forget to rinse the pipes buried in the wall before installing.
- Q: It stopped working out of no where so the only way i can use my kitchen sink is to use the hand held spreyer.. I have never replaced one before and wasnt sure if i need to turn off water to the whole house or not...
- before doing any thing try cleaning the filter at the spout. at the end of your fauset spout there is a screen. sometimes theres as many as 3 screens stacked one on top of the other. twist off the end counter clockwise and see if they are plugged. if so just clean them and put them back and walla new faucet. if it does need replaced though, all you needto do is turn the 2 water valves off under your sink. not the main water supply. some faucets can be a bear if you haven't done it before. you might need a basin wrench for the nuts if there isn't enough room for a cresent wrench. good luck.
