- Q: I have a Kohler (sp) faucet in my master bath that's come loose. I've looked underneath for some kind of bolt to tight, but I don't see anything there to tighten. I'm wondering if it was fitted badly and the means to tighten it lays between the plywood and the granite top. Thoughts?
- Because you'll NEVER get a standard wrench up in there (I've tried, trust me), you'll have to pick up a cheap basin wrench at your local hardware store. See below link for pic.
- Q: How to connect the water heater to the basin
- Before the renovation, you need to do a good job between the wash basin and the water heater.
- Q: i have two problems.1. water is leaking out from the cold faucet. I unscrewed the plastic cover, it looks fine, but i can see the water coming out from the iron thing. I suppose the only solution is the replace the whole thing? but the whole thing seems to be glued to the sink. 2. water is dripping down under the sink around this twisted plastic tube. ( i don't know the proper name for those things.) i can see mineral kind of things accumulating around one black plastic circle kind of thing. i think that this should be an easy fix, what should I buy? should just buy that one thing or replace the whole plastice tube, etc?thanks.
- Unless this faucet is near and dear to your heart, just replace it. Be sure to replace it with a good one, because the cheap plastic ones only seem to last two or three years. Your faucet isn't glued to the countertop, it's just attached via two or three plastic nuts. You have to get directly below the faucet (where the water connections are) and you should see what you need to remove to get the old faucet off. There is a special wrench called a basin wrench that you can use or you can just use some pliers. They can be very tight and hard to remove though since you won't have much room. Be sure you turn the water off before you do any work....
- Q: Understand basin faucet installed?
- Pre-installation: Before installation, please check the installation hole template, pencil, glue (such as vigorously glue), fastening plywood (such as two fingers wide marble block), faucet, soap dispenser and other options are ready
- Q: Does it take any special plumber tools? I am very mechanically inclined but I know that in some plumbing jobs it takes special tools. I want to changing a basic 4 bathroom vanity faucet. Anyone have some pointers out there? Or should I call a plumber?
- I have changed mine out! It doesn't take any specialty tools, but does take commitment as the space is really tight. The first faucet set I changed I used slip joint pliars to tighten the little nuts. The second set I changed, my son brought me a hinged jointed wrench that works great wonders in getting up in that tiny space and not cracking knuckles. I need to change one of my kitchen faucets and am putting the job off. But it will have to be done. Note: my house has well water and it is really alkali and eats the fixtures right up!
- Q: What is the faucet in the basin?
- There is no water outlet and water leakage: when the faucet within the axis of the gasket wear will appear this situation. Solution: Select the corresponding pliers according to the size of the faucet to tap the faucet gland, and remove the wear of the shaft with a clip, and then replace the new pad to solve the problem.
- Q: I got a new faucet with sink and the faucet is not positioned over the drain, also water cloudy. Kindly advise...
- Faucets over drain is standard, not mandantory. Many 'fancy' style tubs have faucets over the sides plus the spout can be of different lengths. Cloudy water. Check for source. This may be coming from the outside water source if both hot & cold including toilet water- - call water company. If only cloudy water from hot, check your water heater. Run water periodically during the day, if remains cloudy, seek outside assistance. In the meantime, do not drink that water.
- Q: I Just bought a new kohler faucet to replace my old but the hoses on the new ones are short. It has a 3/8 connector and my old one had a 5/8 connector...the old hose is pinched into the shutoff valve tap so i cannot remove it...what can i do to connect the old pipe with the new one...please help....home depot was no help
- Here's the bottom line, as I see it. Shut off the water to the house at the service valve out front or, if that valve doesn't work properly, shut it off at the meter. Get a tubing cutter and cut off the service valve under the sink as close to the valve as you can. Do not use a hack saw, use a tubing cutter. Home Depot sells new service valves that are compression fittings to slip over the pipe coming out of the wall or floor. Take the old valve with you so they can help you with the correct size. You'll need to cut off both valves. When you buy the new valves, buy some new armored hoses to connect your new faucet to the new valves. You'll need a couple of wrenches to install the new valves and hoses, and you may need a basin wrench to install the new faucet. Consider the tools an investment and the valves and hoses maintenance expenses. Once you've done one successfully you'll never be intimidated by that type of job again. Good luck.
- Q: the tub has deminsions of 12' long 6' deep 4' width -how ong will it take to fill up?
- This is extremely confusing
- Q: It stopped working out of no where so the only way i can use my kitchen sink is to use the hand held spreyer.. I have never replaced one before and wasnt sure if i need to turn off water to the whole house or not...
- before doing any thing try cleaning the filter at the spout. at the end of your fauset spout there is a screen. sometimes theres as many as 3 screens stacked one on top of the other. twist off the end counter clockwise and see if they are plugged. if so just clean them and put them back and walla new faucet. if it does need replaced though, all you needto do is turn the 2 water valves off under your sink. not the main water supply. some faucets can be a bear if you haven't done it before. you might need a basin wrench for the nuts if there isn't enough room for a cresent wrench. good luck.
