- Previous answer is correct that you don't need a card reader, but they are cheap and easier to use than the camera's software. The card reader will look like another drive in MY COMPUTER and you can drag pics off of it. Using the camera can be problematic if the batteries are low.

- Did you use a disc to format and reinstall Vista? Why didn`t you just take it back to facory settings (F8 at startup) and all your drivers would be there automatically. Reply to added info. No it isn`t the same, a restore to factory settings includes all your drivers. It may not be a driver issue though, as you say it`s reported to be working properly. I`m assuming it`s saying this in device manager. I have this problem in my desktop, the built in card reader won`t read some cards but reads others. I use a usb card reader to overcome the problem. This is the type of thing I mean, very cheap and worth having to hand, I have a few bought from China for about 15p each.

- RTFM :-) make sure you have windows xp with service pack 2 installed ****Do Not connect the reader before you do the following****** Before connecting the reader, you must install the smartcard driver and the reader utilities for Winxp Go to Control Panel Open Administrative Tools Open Services Open Smart Card Services Then set it to Start Automatically then plug in your smart card reader. For a serial port smart card reader you have to restart the system.

- Does your Mac not already have a built in SD card reader? It should have unless it is an older model. But if it does not, then using the card reader should certainly work. Try this. DO NOT put the reader in the USB and then the card into the reader. Put the card into the reader FIRST, then plug the reader into the USB port on the computer. You SHOULD get an icon on the desktop that will probably say Canon, but it may just say No Name or some such thing. You just click on the icon and you can open the folder that contains the photos, select all, and drag and drop them to any folder you want on the Mac.

- Yes. It will work exactly like that. You're putting the card into the USB adapterIf you can get one that cheap, than you're in luck because at most places like Furture Shop, Radio Shack ((the Source by Circuit City in Canada)) they can get up to almost 50 bucks ((thats a multiple card reader)). Its a lot like burning a burning CDs. Put the files on it, and move on.
