Q:Chinese hospitals only have 4 floors ' was a fact of the day at school. Why can't they have any more floors??!
Not a FACT AT ALL!!!!!!!!!! I was just in a Hospital in China.. I was on the 11th floor... Maybe you are thinking they do not have a 4th floor. Since the number 4 is bad luck. You better think twice about that school you are going to. YIKES!!
Q:What's the best cleaner for laminated hardwood floors?
Hi, I just use warm water and vinegar 1 cup to a gallon. It works well and I prefer something that is natural. I just use a mop that is well wrung out. You do not want to over wet floors. I sometimes buff up with a towel attached to my swifter. Soap-based products and citrus based products leave a residue on laminate making them look dull. It may take a few washings to get rid of the film. It is good to use warm water as it evaporates more quickly.
Q:who has good pricing for laminate wood flooring? How much and how much sq ft does it cover...thanks!
The prices will vary from about $1.00 to $6.50 per square foot. Best thing here is not to buy by price. The cheaper laminates don't last long. Look for a major brand name and buy laminate that has at least a 20 year guarantee. As far as how many square feet a box covers that will vary also. You just have to read the box to find out. NOTE: it is best to remove the baseboards before putting the floor down. It is cheaper than adding 1/4 round molding to cover the gap near the walls. Also: if you want the flooring to look professional cut the casement molding on the door frames about 1/4. That will allow the flooring to slip under the door frame hiding the gap there.
Q:There are also books and lakes under the floor
When the newly renovated houses are often due to the environment of high humidity (housing damp), high temperature, poor ventilation, book lice can occur in a short time, this time the louse to grow in the wet wallpaper surface and floor, wood and other gaps in the fungus , Hyphae as the staple food, in the environment humid, high temperature, poor ventilation, the growth of beneficial fungi, thus contributing to the damage of the book lice. The most effective way to prevent and control the book louse is to keep the house dry (especially when the decoration is often limited due to the duration of the mud, the mud did not have enough dry damage often angrily get the whole period, the wood for the construction - the house is too wet ), Such as relative humidity of 50% of some pests are relatively easy to produce. Such as dehumidifiers, the use of dehumidification bags, the use of vacuum cleaner to make it unfavorable to its food, low humidity, such as strengthening ventilation. When the above methods can not inhibit the treatment of recoverable agents (some pharmaceuticals and both anti-corrosion effect). With 2% formaldehyde spray can be inactivated, but also harmful to the human body, with caution!
Q:Interior laying
Tile common tiles specifications are 600 * 600mm, 500 * 500mm, 400 * 400mm, 300 * 300mm. Rough calculation method: room area ÷ floor area * 1.1 = the number of brick with the exact calculation method: (room length ÷ brick length) * (room width ÷ brick width) = the number of brick with a long 3.6m, 3.3m wide room , With 300 * 300mm specifications of the tiles as an example: Room length 3.6m ÷ brick length 0.3m = 12 pieces of room width 3.3m ÷ brick width 0.3m = 11 block length 12 * width 11 block = total brick with 132 instructions : Ground floor tiles in the accounting, taking into account the cutting loss, handling losses, can be added about 3% of the loss. When laying the floor tiles, the chicken and sand required for each chicken to be treated with rodents are based on the situation of the original ground. Usually in the ground floor cement mortar layer, which per square meter of ordinary cement 12.5kg, 34 kg of sand.
Q:Explain how the Earth’s magnetic reversals provide evidence of sea floor spreading. Please help, just this one question.I go to TLHS
There is a ridge down the center of the pacific. You can trace it up far to the north and it makes a hard right which is something to really think about. What caused this ridge is that the pacific floor is spreading apart about four inches a year. That space becomes filled with magma from below and as it surges up from below makes this underwater mountain range. That is part of plate tectonics. The process starts when a plate is being pulled apart and an example of that would be the Rift in Africa. The next step is that area fills up with water and and example of that would be the Red Sea. The ends of the rift usually have a V formation. Put that V upside down and it is visible with the Red Sea. As long as the tectonic forces pull the plate apart, this process continues and you have the Pacific Ocean. Should the forces change, it will stop and an example of that is the lower part of the Mississippi River. . .down where it is called Ol' Man River. The upper part of the Mississippi is from water drainage. At some point the pressure on the our plate stopped and the it just turned into our drainage system in the US. Makes you go back to that underwater mountain range and make you wonder what happen that those mountains at the end of the chain are going in a different direction and how does that relate to the Mississippi. Plate tectonic are really interesting to me. Having lived in Missouri for some time. There is a line across the southern part of the state and huge sink holes open up. I asked that question in geology and everyone shrugged their shoulders. But couldn't that be the V I talked about. I had a friend with a farm down there and it's on this invisible line. They took me over to their neighbors to see this large hole. Their barn and a great deal of acreage had just disappeared down this hole. Interesting stuff. . .hope this helps.
Q:i have a floor that is in an older house that would like to tile. Unfortunately, it has a swell in the center of about two inches from when the house settled. Does anyone know of a commercial levelling product i can just trowel on to level the floor so the tile will lay flat? The ease of use is a big factor, i like things simple. Thanks.
to raise your whole floor with leveling compound will take alot of work, and money... if its the subfloor I would suggest replacing that part of the floor.. if you are putting it over a hardwood, or laminate floor.. you could cut that part of the floor out, and spend way less leveling just that part of the floor. don't bother with leveling your whole floor it will cost a buttload. (call local flooring company, and have them come out and check it out to give you other ideas)
Q:Can I have 75 gallon tank in an apt. I live on the 2nd floor.
YES you can. You can make it as complicated as you wish, but in the end unless you live in a 3rd world country with apartments made of paper, or you live in an old wood building eaten out by termites, it will be no problem at all. Not even if you have a standard iron stand with 4 legs. Building codes are strict in most developed countries. I currently have a 75 gallon and a 40 gallon in my 2nd floor apartment. I had the same two tanks in my 2nd floor townhouse. I had at one point a 110 gallon and the 75 gallon in that house. All basic iron stands placed directly onto the floor. Play it safe and put the tank up against a load bearing wall - this is the floors strongest point. Having too much weight on the floor will gradually bend the joists and warp the floor - which isn't good - but you do not have to worry about the tank falling through - this is something that just can't happen the way homes are built. even if Mary heard about her cousins best friends husbands sisters uncles daughter who had it happen to her.
Q:I want to lay floating floors but my OSB sub floor is uneven. In some spaces it gets close to a inch in difference. I was wanting to know if floor leveling compound will fix this? Also if you could give my a brand or name of a good one.
it is most likely uneven because of swelling, so you don't want to pour more liquid over it. When it comes to self leveling floor leveling compounds, you get what you pay for. The more expensive, higher quality, longer lasting ones will require a special primer that needs to be painted on first so that it doesn't break loose and shatter into little pieces later. Mapei make some.
Q:this summer, my a/c was leaking water causing wet spots on the floor.i used a towel to try to dry but then over the course of weeks my floor began to buckle. i dont know what this is. it may be water under the floor. will this be a major problem? anyone know round about estimates?
First off, we need some details. Is this a floor covering that is buckling? (As in laminate flooring) Or is this the sub-floor that is buckling? (Generally particle board, OSB, or plywood, found under vinyl flooring, carpet, or other floor covering). Dimensions? (How much of the floor is buckling?) There is the off chance, also, that you have a warped floor joist. How much it is going to cost will depend on which problem you've got, what kind of floor covering, and material & labor rates in your area. OSB sub-flooring in my neck of the woods is running about $13 for a sheet of 3/4 x 4'x8'. Plywood of the same thickness and size is running about $32 per sheet. This could turn into a major problem, if you let it go. Mold can set in, and then you'd have a really nasty problem. By the way, that leak from the air conditioner was probably from dirt in the drain line. It needs to be cleaned out, or replaced, before running the AC. Without those details, we can't very well give even a rough guess at the expense to repair it. Call some local flooring contractors to come out and give you some estimates. Ask for, AND CHECK, their references. Good Luck Additional: Ok, I've checked back 3 times now, and still don't see any additional information. So my best advice with the limited details we have here, is to call in the flooring contractors as stated above. Have Fun
