- It's hard to tell their genre. Every song sounds different from the others. Avenged Sevenfold (A7X)'s early works is mainly metalcore/hardcore I think. But I cannot tell their later works is heavy metal as you said. Ever listened to A little piece of heaven? It includes elements of Broadway show tunes, using primarily brass instruments and stringed orchestra to take over most of the role of the lead and rhythm guitar. And Dear God adopts a country style. M Shadows' voice is getting better. Warmness on the soul and Dear God sound like 2 different singers. And their guitar works are damn good due to their double-threat guitarist Syn and Zacky. I am not any rock band fans but I can tell that this is a cool band and these guys knows how to play good music. If you like their sound, then go for their albums. It does not matter which genre they play.

Now that's a question that can be answered by reading the ingredients labels on your standard boxes of metal alloys :-)
