Q: What are the properties of metals?*Metals conduct heat and electricity.**Metals tend to lose electrons in reactions.*Metals usually are poor conductors of heat and electricity.Metals have shiny appearance.Metals tend to gain electrons in reactions.*Metals are ductile.**Metals are malleable.*Metals are not malleable.Am I wrong?? It says I am, but what am I missing? Thanks!
I love metal (thrash, prog, death, doom, folk) but I don't consider myself a metalhead since I like other genres of music, such as punk and hip-hop.
Q: I mean, there seems to be an endless number of metal genres and it just makes me wonder...
Why dont you watch Metal:A HeadBangers Journey. look on youtube, netflix. There are so many genres of metal. And honestly you shouldnt shut your mind off to any type of music. Im a straight up metal chick and i listen to all sorts of metal i even listen to classical and opera. Once you start understanding genres itll be easier. But honestly most people like what they like. I meet Mark Morton guitarist from Lamb Of God once and his ring tone was 50 cent. The more open minded you are the more musicly inclined and talented youll be. But metal to me is all about composition speed riffs vocals. Theres some amazing metal bands with amazing speed riffs double beats but clean vocals, like the Human Abstract, As I lay Dying, Born Of Oasis ect
Q: okay, i think i've discovered millions of types of metal, and i just want somebody to help me understand the qualities of certain types of metal, like power metal, death metal, black metal, hair metal, viking metal, love metal, speed, thrash, grind, math metal, doom, epic, progressive, nu metal, symphonic, industrial metal, gothic metal, folk metal, melodeath, i think theres alot of subgenres and i know basics like death metal, thrash metal and black metal and nu-metal, but i just want help with understanding the different types of metal, anybody help me?
All the stuff on the left of the periodic table except for hydrogen are metals: lithium, sodium, magnesium, calcium, etc. all the stuff on the far right are nonmetals: Carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, sulfur, etc. There should be a sort of bold jagged line going down the periodic table and elements on this line are semi-metals or metalloids: silicon, germanium, antimony, etc.
Q: It's a known fact with metal fan that most metalheads hate the Hair Metal sub-genre of Heavy Metal music from the 1980s. The thing is if Hair Metal was never born and had never exploded with success due to MTV thrash might have never became what it did and a lot of other sub-genres of metal may have been overlooked or never created at all. I personally love Hair Metal just as much as all the other sub-genres with Thrash Metal being my #1 favorite type of metal being tied with Hair Metal. I wanna know your thoughts on the Hair Metal bands and songs do you love, like, think its alright, or hate it with a passion and why?
No. As the name implies extreme metal refers to the styles in heavy metal music that stand out from the others and are defined by sheer heaviness and aggression. Thrash/speed metal for its speed and aggression; death metal for its heavy distortion, growled vocals and blast beat drumming; black metal for its high speed, distortion, and drumming as well, also for its shrieked vocals (and perhaps its shock value themes); and doom metal for it thickness and overall heaviness. Power metal can be fast and progressive metal can be complex but that's not what being an extreme form of heavy metal is all about. Sure the fastness in some power metal can surpass that of any extreme metal band but apart from that, what else is extreme about it? It sticks to the more traditional aspects of heavy metal, such as being more uplifting and having more melody (hence the name power metal) and therefore, not really all that extreme. Progressive metal is arguably the most complex form of metal but like a previous answerer stated, musical complexity has nothing to do with being an extreme metal band so prog metal really has no place in extreme metal. Of course one's defintion of extreme can always vary but in this case, there's a specific defintion on what constitutes for an extreme form of metal. And power metal and progressive metal just don't fit that bill.
Q: I was doing some research on these two genres and got a bit confused. I read that Power Metal has a combination of Speed metal with other subgenres of metal but I got lost in that part...so which are the other subgenres?
This Site Might Help You. RE: What is the most reflective metal? A metal that doesnt absorb much light.
Q: metal detectors these days can detect metals with out iron in them.....so magnetism seems impossible...
I like the Slayer - South Of Heaven(EMU Remix).About as metal as it gets.I've even played it out before dropping the Slayer original if I dj a rock/metal night.Metalheads go nuts for it! Also try: NOIZE CREATOR - Suburban Trash Industries... vex'd, scorn, broken note, distance, lone wolf, drumcorps, reso (onslaught x2!!) Tomahawk and transaction by Subscape Dubsworth played all the guitar and there is a DZ remix floating around that has like mad guitar action that don't come off as cheesy Hope you find something there bud :-)
Q: All I want you to do is to tell me what subgenre of rock/metal that you think the following bands would most likely be placed under. In FlamesToolKillswitch EngageDream TheaterAlice In ChainsSoundgardenThe OffspringNine Inch NailsFirewindBeastie BoysChildren of BodomRadiohead
Metal fan. I think it's a good source for getting information on many metal bands but for the most part, I don't care for it at all. I think it's little more than the metal elitist capitol of the internet. The moderators that run it just love thinking that they're the ones who say what metal is and isn't and are some of the biggest metal elitists you'll find on the internet. They completely forbid genres like nu metal and glam metal (despite having M?tley Crüe and Twisted Sister archived under heavy metal lol) and yet according to them, Rush is officially a metal band. They don't even allow bands that have had major influences on heavy metal like Blue ?yster Cult and Van Halen. Not even Led Zeppelin is allowed in the archives. To me, to not allow those bands is very misleading. Especially not allowing Led Zeppelin; whether you see them as metal or not, there's no denying that they're one of the biggest pioneers of heavy metal. So yeah, I think the Metal-Archives are a joke and little more than a limited encyclopedia for metal elitists.
Q: were can i download all the metal slugs???
not really...some of these bands have a few decent songs...Korn has a few good songs on a couple albums, but most of their stuff sucks. Limp Bizkit's first album was really good and then they took a massive nosedive. Disturbed's first album was listenable but now they just annoy the f*ck out of me. Slipknot is about the same as Korn, a few good songs but mostly crap. Linkin Park sucks hard, so does POD. Papa Roach has a handful of half-way decent songs, nothing special though. Static-X haven't listened to much, but didn't seem all that bad, not that good though either!!
Q: I do not know what the difference between these two genres is. Please do not say that quot;Progressive metal is prog rock and metal.quot; I do not know what the word progressive implies. Thanks in advanced!
As a Metalhead from 1970 (Black Sabbath's debut!) The 70's Metal is where it started. Great bands like Black Sabbath and Judas Priest ruled the Metal realm. In my opinion the 80's Hair Metal fag bands almost killed the genre and if it wasn't for the late 80's Thrash attack they probably would have. Metal of today is so much more diverse than it ever has in the past. Great Black, Death, Power, Gothic, Industrial, Heavy Metal from all over the world! It's the internet/world era now. Embrace it!
Q: The metal where they scream the whole song
They're actually one in the same. Progressive death metal is just an alternate term for technical death metal (just another name to try and make it sound better, as far as I'm concerned). But the original term for the subgenre was actually technical death metal. The technical used to describe the progressive influence (particularly, the emphasis on complex riffs and song structures) used by some death metal bands who pioneered the style; namely Death, Atheist, Cynic, Nile, Nocturnus, and Pestilence while many future acts like Opeth, Obscura, and Decapitated would carry on the style. I've actually never heard of progressive metal referred to as technical metal. I personally think technical is a more accurate term for the prog-influenced death metal style since it helps distinguish those bands away from true prog metal bands, if you will, like Symphony X, Dream Theater, etc. Especially since they sound nothing like those bands.
