- Q: I have a 2 story houseIt's older and does not have any duck work going the upstairsThe upstairs has 2 bedrooms and the atticIs there any way for me to heat it this winterI have space heaters on 24/7 and the door open to let the heat go up there but it's still freezingI have a Worly bird in the attic and I didn't know if I should cover it to keep the heat in? Any help? Thanks
- Make sure the attic and ceiling have adequate insulation and no major air leaks, then the attic vent, (Worley Bird), should be left aloneI would seriously think about larger or more efficient heaters, it will pay for itself in the long runI have a 80,000 BTU LP heater for emergencies but it warms up the house really wellThey are only about $200If you have air leaks like it sounds you do, I wouldn't worry about any CO2 problemsMy heater will work about 3 weeks on a single 20 LP tank.
- Q: straightner out there that doesn't damage your hair a lotRight now I have the CHI and i can just see my hair breaking off :(
- Parchment paper is your best betIt will work just fine for what your need it to do, and it can be found in any major supermarket.
- Q: The duct work in my attic quot;sweatsquot; when I have the AC on in the summerIt ends up dripping down the walls or stains my ceilingWhat can I do to stop that from happening?
- Insulating the duct is the only way to stop the condensationNeoprene type insulation is bestUse fiberglass ductwrap if that is too expensiveCompletely seal all ends and seamsIf any humidity can get under the insulation, it will condense on the duct and ruin the insulationDO NOT go to Home Depot for adviceI wouldn't ask them how to heat waterGo to an insulation supply store, or an insulation contractorRemember, you must completely seal the duct so no air can come into contact with it.
- Q: We have an Automatic/Electric fan in the house that i use every single nightRegardless how cold it isLast night it was about freezing temperature (live in Cali) and i had it in full blastI did have a blanket and a sweater on thoughPeople think its crazyi dont really know why and how to explain it.what do you think? .some kind of OCD??? lol
- It's nice to cuddle up in comfy blanketsHard to do that when it is hotAnd the white noise is a bonus.
- Q: I'd really prefer it if it doesn't change the curd's physical appearance too much (so probably no obvious color change please, but I reckon that subtle color change/anything else would be great).I have thought of nuts and fruits, but the problem is, most nuts that are high in fibre are also high in fat and most high fibre fruits would make the curd change color.I would really appreciate it if you could tell me if there are any high fibre nuts that are also low fat, yellow/orange fruits that are high fibre or if you have any other ideas for a low fat high fibre food that can be used when making the curd(:Thanks!
- do you mean to put into lemon curd once its finished or to make lemon curd with? If you are talking about to make lemon curd, I don't think messing with the recipe THAT drastically is going to yield lemon curdMost recipes I have seen only include 4 ingredients, egg yolks, lemon zest and juice and sugarThat combination is what lemon curd isusing a different fruit, high fiber or not, will result in something else but NOT lemon curdLemon is already low fat and the zest does add some fiber but not a great deal All nuts have fat AND fiberthat is their natureAll fruits have fiber but using them instead of lemon for making curd does not yield lemon curdAnd only the juice is called for in the recipes anyway so any fiber the fruit might have had is not includedIf you are dieting, my advice to you is use diet instant lemon pudding made with skim milk insteadIt is the only thing I can think of that is low fat, low calorie but not hi fiber.
- Q: Hi gang, I live in the Pacific NW, USAIt gets pretty cold here in the winter time and right now I am wearing a hat in the house in order to keep the heat downIt got below zero last night and it is holdingI want to know what you think what would be a good alternative heat source - pellet stove, or wood stove? I have forced air gas as a furnace, but it can run pretty high in the winterWhat is your experience on the best solution? Thanks always, Karen
- Well, I'm not the brightest ship on the water, I've done alot from putting stainless steel metal into a microwave, then grabbing it, to waxing my brother in the head with a hot cookie sheet, to setting off the fire alarm while making eggsBut the story that takes the cake One time I was making cookies with my babysitter, and as we opened the oven, it started to sparkThe logical thing would be to turn off the oven right? Well, I threw BUCKETS of water into the oven because I thought it was on fire, and then I told my brother to tell the neighbor our house was on fireEveryone was flipping out, and my neighbor, who i don't even know, ran into our house, and turned off the ovenThe end result was an oven with roughly two inches of water at the bottomAnd, unfortunately the oven got injured pretty badman, that was not my finest hour.
- Q: i have a new attic to insulate, it has 2x4 rafters,24'' on center, any suggestions?
