Aluminium foil acts as a total barrier to light and oxygen (which cause fats to oxidise or become rancid), odours and flavours, moistness, and germs, it is used broadly in food and pharmaceutical packaging. The purpose of aluminium is to make long-life packs (aseptic processing|aseptic packaging) for drinks and dairy goods, which allows storing without refrigeration. Aluminium foil containers and trays are used to bake pies and to pack takeaway meals, ready snacks and long life pet foods.

Aluminium foil is widely sold into the consumer market, often in rolls of 500 mm (20 in) width and several metres in length. It is used for wrapping food in order to preserve it, for example, when storing leftover food in a refrigerator (where it serves the additional purpose of preventing odour exchange), when taking sandwiches on a journey, or when selling some kinds of take-away or fast food. Tex-Mex restaurants in the United States, for example, typically provide take-away burritos wrapped in aluminium foil.

Aluminium foils thicker than 25 μm (1 mil) are impermeable to oxygen and water. Foils thinner than this become slightly permeable due to minute pinholes caused by the production process.

Aluminium foil has a shiny side and a matte side. The shiny side is produced when the aluminium is rolled during the final pass. It is difficult to produce rollers with a gap fine enough to cope with the foil gauge, therefore, for the final pass, two sheets are rolled at the same time, doubling the thickness of the gauge at entry to the rollers. When the sheets are later separated, the inside surface is dull, and the outside surface is shiny. This difference in the finish has led to the perception that favouring a side has an effect when cooking. While many believe that the different properties keep heat out when wrapped with the shiny finish facing out, and keep heat in with the shiny finish facing inwards, the actual difference is imperceptible without instrumentation. The reflectivity of bright aluminium foil is 88% while dull embossed foil is about 80%.

Q:Electrons flow through a 1.8 mm-diameter aluminum wire at 2.2×10?4 m/sHow many electrons move through a cross section of the wire each day?
mastering physics for you too? did you get an answer? i have no idea
Q:Does military now have to change their ballistics and ammunition?
I don't think anyone can decipher your broken EnglishStill, I get the feeling that you're full of crapCopper jacketed lead bullets have been killing people just fine for over a centuryAluminum might be lightweight and therefore leave the barrel of a gun faster, but it won't carry nearly as much kinetic energy, and will lose momentum quickly after leaving the gunOur military might not have their heads on straight regarding a couple of issues, but weaponry is something we're pretty damn good at.
Q:sugar maple syrup and bi carb soda.plz help!
Maple Honeycomb Ingredients: 3/4 cup maple syrup 2 cups granulated sugar 1 generous tbsp baking soda 1/4 cup water Prep: Prepare a rimmed baking sheet by lining it with aluminum foil and spraying the foil with nonstick cooking sprayCombine the sugar, maple syrup, and ? cup water in a large saucepanYou want to use a saucepan large enough so that the mixture can triple in size and still be safely containedStir the ingredients together until the sugar is completely moistenedUsing a wet pastry brush, wipe the sides of the saucepan to remove any stray sugar crystalsInsert a candy thermometer and cook the mixture over medium-high heat, without stirring, until the temperature reaches 300 degreesOnce the candy is at the proper temperature, remove it from the heat and add the baking soda all at onceImmediately whisk the candy to incorporate the baking soda, and be careful—it will foam up a great deal! As soon as the baking soda is incorporated, pour the candy carefully onto the prepared sheetAllow it to cool and harden completely, then break it into small pieces.

Q:He's 3-yrs old, neutered 1 of 3 other house cats (in a large living space) - 1 other neutered male cat (brother formerly best buds), and 2 femalesHe was the quot;greeterquot;, never shy, quot;talkedquot; too much, very outgoing .for a cat3 weeks ago, he began fighting with one of the femalesHe ran into the kitchen (Personally, not the place I'd pick for him to seek isolation) has stayed in there since - except to run out use the litter box, which I moved right outside the kitchen door (so he would stop using my countertops!)Nope - I cannot will not have company over until this is remediedI've tried luring him out to no availI've made the noises in the kitchen I know he can't stand (rustling of paper, aluminum foil.any loud noise) he'll run out then run back in.Anyone out there have any idea what's happened, why what I can possibly do to quot;fixquot; this?
I will tell you the real reason and anyone with a sliver of intelligence will understand why it had to be done Instability in the Middle East could escalate and that would cut off most of the world's oil supplyThe US would suffer, but Japan, China and Europe would shut down completelyAll utilities would ceaseCities would become lawless wastelandsMillions would starveCountries would go to war to take over the regionYou, dear reader, would probably die this winter as would millions of othersNow, look at a map of the Middle EastIf you were a military commander tasked with deciding WHERE you would want to put the needed air, sea and land military bases to prevent this you would have several optionsIrak is the best option and lucky you, that land is run by a murderous psycho who has already killed millions and declared that HE HAS NUKES and chemical and biological weaponsYou would be doing the world and the Iraki people a favor by getting rid of this madman and HAVING A PLACE TO PUT YOUR BASES to present a threat to violent countries like Iran and Syria and to prevent others like China and Russia from stepping in The problem is, the world at large and the US population could not approve or stomach the real justification for invading Irak because we have let ourselves become a bunch of soft pansiesBottom line: Our soldiers are there protecting YOU and your WAY OF LIFE.
Q:If I put a Stouffer's Party Size Lasagna in the oven (completely frozen) do I leave it in the aluminum pan that it came in? I need an answer ASAP! 10 POINTS???
The best you can do is use Wirsbo (Uponor) Pex piping and fittingsMost plumbers don't like it because it takes longer to installBut since you probably can't get the tool for it, the fairly recently approved polymer fittings with Vanguard pex pipe is next upI only use crimp fitting on existing systems that already have itWhen I put in a new system, it's WirsboIf you use brass fittings on the regular crimp Pex like Vanguard piping, make sure the fitting is never in a bindThe crimp type brass fittings are thin and does last long if they are in a bindThe crimp type brass fittings also cannot hold up the hard well waterWirsbo pex fittings canIf it would really make a difference, I'll post or send you a pic showing a 3/4 Wirsbo ell beside a 3/4 crimp ellOnce you see the difference, you'll be sold on WirsboThe foam pipe insulation you mentioned is fine and UPC plumbing code requires water piping to be protected from freezing so your piping in the unheated area in your part of the U.Sshould be covered with something.Joe
Q:State and explain how the first ionisation energy of aluminium will differ from that of boron.
If the blanket is like regular material you put in the washer then it is safe with sheetsIt's all being washed right??
Q:In the first step, aluminum hydroxide reacts to form alumina and water: 2Al(OH3) (s) -gt; Al2O3 (s) + 3H2) (g)In the second step, alumina and carbon react to form aluminum and carbon dioxide: 2Al2O3 (s) + 3C (s) -gt; 4Al (s) + 3CO2 (g)Write the net chemical equation for the production of aluminum from aluminum hydroxide and carbon.
Just multiply all the coefficients of the first step reaction by 2, and add the two equations2 Al2O3 (s) cancels, since it then appears on both sides of the arrow, leaving: 4 Al(OH)3 (s) + 3 C (s) → 4 Al (s) + 3 H2O (g) + 3 CO2 (g)
