- Q: we got a snowmobile for Christmas, and need a helmet with a face shield. i found a good one without a face shield for around 60$, but all of the ones with face shields are like 200-800$ and i cant find one cheaper! it has to be DOT approved and all that so its safe. and a second option would be, is there a way to get the one without the face shield and buy a face shield for it? or wear goggles - would that keep the snow from hitting my face? thanks in advance!

- We kept all of our first child's clothes (which was good because two years later she got a baby sister and so we got to use a lot of them as hand-me-downs). We still keep some of their clothes but we moved recently and got rid of a lot of old clothes (to Goodwill and friends with newborns) that we didn`t ened any more. We have about 2 rubbermaid containers now in the basement of special clothes that were the kids` when they were little. We kept the carseat so that, if we had more kids, we could reuse. We ended up using the same carseat for our first two girls, then bought another for the third We kept the swing and bouncer as well just because we though we would want them for subsequent kids. - I wouldn't use a bucket full of water, if you're trying to dry fire in your house and keep it quiet or something, just bury the barrl in some blankets or the cushions of your couch. That'll soften the noise quite a bit.

- The quickest way to check is there is a short in the steering column wire harness would be to jump an external wire from ignition switch thru the firewall to the starter relay. Then try to start the car with the wheel in the normal position. If the car starts, you definitely have a short in the steering column harness. I would not try to identify the short source but would go to an after market retailer and purchase a new steering column wire harness. Most have plugs at both ends and can be changed out by removal of the steering wheel, disconnecting the harness at the wheel end, plug and tape the new harness to the disconnected existing harness, then from the engine compartment, use the existing wire harness to pull the new harness thru the steering column and firewall to the plug point in the engine compartment. Remove the tape, unplug the new harness from the old, unplug and remove the old harness, plug the newly pulled harness in at the engine compartment and steering wheel point reinstall the steering wheel and you should be good to go.

- Anything electrical can catch fire. But it is VERY VERY unlikely of that happening. The chances of that happening is like me winning the million dollar lottery on my first ticket. Especially electric blankets. And no it does not cause cancer unless it is radioactive. Ha ha.

- This depends on the size of the community you live in, as well as state and county laws regulating what can be used on a street to regulate the pace of traffic. Start first at your neighborhood level. Get a solid list of property owners who support your position. A legal petition is your best documentation that the people on your street support your position. Then go to city hall and check for a streets or transportation department. Ask for any regulations regarding the use of speed bumps to control traffic. The next part is the hardest and will most likely stop you cold. There are many families with elderly and sick family members who don't believe in traffic calming neighborhoods. The police, fire departments and paramedics all line up to tell their side of the story when you are told to take this to a scheduled public hearing on the matter. Unless you can fully document the conditions as well as the failure of the police in your community, the odds are going to be against you. Good luck.
