Aluminium foil acts as a total barrier to light and oxygen (which cause fats to oxidise or become rancid), odours and flavours, moistness, and germs, it is used broadly in food and pharmaceutical packaging. The purpose of aluminium is to make long-life packs (aseptic processing|aseptic packaging) for drinks and dairy goods, which allows storing without refrigeration. Aluminium foil containers and trays are used to bake pies and to pack takeaway meals, ready snacks and long life pet foods.

Aluminium foil is widely sold into the consumer market, often in rolls of 500 mm (20 in) width and several metres in length. It is used for wrapping food in order to preserve it, for example, when storing leftover food in a refrigerator (where it serves the additional purpose of preventing odour exchange), when taking sandwiches on a journey, or when selling some kinds of take-away or fast food. Tex-Mex restaurants in the United States, for example, typically provide take-away burritos wrapped in aluminium foil.

Aluminium foils thicker than 25 μm (1 mil) are impermeable to oxygen and water. Foils thinner than this become slightly permeable due to minute pinholes caused by the production process.

Aluminium foil has a shiny side and a matte side. The shiny side is produced when the aluminium is rolled during the final pass. It is difficult to produce rollers with a gap fine enough to cope with the foil gauge, therefore, for the final pass, two sheets are rolled at the same time, doubling the thickness of the gauge at entry to the rollers. When the sheets are later separated, the inside surface is dull, and the outside surface is shiny. This difference in the finish has led to the perception that favouring a side has an effect when cooking. While many believe that the different properties keep heat out when wrapped with the shiny finish facing out, and keep heat in with the shiny finish facing inwards, the actual difference is imperceptible without instrumentation. The reflectivity of bright aluminium foil is 88% while dull embossed foil is about 80%.

Aluminium (or aluminum; see spelling differences) is a chemical element in the boron group with symbol Al and atomic number 13. It is a silvery white, soft, ductile metal. Aluminium is the third most abundant element (after oxygen and silicon), and the most abundant metal in the Earth's crust. It makes up about 8% by weight of the Earth's solid surface. Aluminium metal is so chemically reactive that native specimens are rare and limited to extreme reducing environments. Instead, it is found combined in over 270 different minerals. The chief ore of aluminium is bauxite.

Aluminium is remarkable for the metal's low density and for its ability to resist corrosion due to the phenomenon of passivation. Structural components made from aluminium and its alloys are vital to the aerospace industry and are important in other areas of transportation and structural materials. The most useful compounds of aluminium, at least on a weight basis, are the oxides and sulfates.

Despite its prevalence in the environment, no known form of life uses aluminium salts metabolically. In keeping with its pervasiveness, aluminium is well tolerated by plants and animals. Owing to their prevalence, potential beneficial (or otherwise) biological roles of aluminium compounds are of continuing interest.

Q: zinc, arsenic, calcium, potassium, argon, aluminum, bromine, carbon, and oxygen? thank you a lot.
(For each element, they're are different combinations of quantum numbers that you could choose for each electron, it is important to follow the rulesThe one's shown are arbitrary choices.) Zn: 1st e (1, 0, 0, +1/2) 2nd (1, 0, 0, -1/2) 3rd (2, 0, 0, +1/2) 4th (2, 0, 0, -1/2) 5th (2, 1, -1, +1/2) 6th (2, 1, 0, +1/2) 7th (2, 1, 1, +1/2) 8th (2, 1, -1, -1/2) 9th (2, 1, 0, -1/2) 10th (2, 1, 1, -1/2) 11th (3, 0, 0, +1/2) 12th (3, 0, 0, -1/2) 13th (3, 1, -1, +1/2) 14th (3, 1, 0, +1/2) 15th (3, 1, 1, +1/2) 16th (3, 1, -1, -1/2) 17th (3, 1, 0, -1/2) 18th (3, 1, 1, -1/2) 19th (4, 0, 0, +1/2) 20th (4, 0, 0, -1/2) 21st (3, 2, -2, +1/2) 22nd (3, 2, -1, +1/2) 23rd (3, 2, 0, +1/2) 24th (3, 2, 1, +1/2) 25th (3, 2, 2, +1/2) 26th (3, 2, -2, -1/2) 27th (3, 2, -1, -1/2) 28th (3, 2, 0, -1/2) 29th (3, 2, 1, -1/2) 30th (3, 2, 2, -1/2) For arsenic, the same as zinc except for 3 more electrons: 31st (4, 1, -1, +1/2) 32nd (4, 1, 0, +1/2) 33rd (4, 1, 1, +1/2) For calcium, look at zincSame as the first 20 electronsFor potassium, look at zincSame as the first 19 electrons For argon, look at zincSame as the first 18 electrons For aluminum, same as zincSame as the first 13 electronsFor bromine, same as zinc and the arsenicExcept there are two more electrons: 34th (4, 1, -1, -1/2) 35th (4, 1, 0, -1/2) For carbon, look at zincSame as the first 6 electrons For oxygen, look at zincSame as the first 8 electronsEven though I have given you all the answers, it is best that you understand how to assign quantum numbers to electronsOnce you get the rules, its easy to assign quantum numbers Hope this helps.
Q: Is it safe to use old aluminum foil containers for food storage?
<p>Reusing old aluminum foil containers for storing food is generally not recommended. Aluminum can react with acidic or alkaline foods, potentially leaching into the food and causing a metallic taste. Over time, the foil may also become damaged, increasing the risk of contamination. It's safer to use new, food-grade containers specifically designed for storage to ensure the integrity and safety of your food.</p>
Q: How do you make a spore syringe?
It's actually pretty simpleFirst, sterilize some water, some spore syringes, and a small glass (a shot glass works fine) in a pressure cookerIn a glove box, after sterilizing the air with aerosol disinfectant (like Lysol) open the pressure cookerUse the tip of the syringes to scrape off a small amount of a spore print into the shot glassSuck up the sterile water into the syringe and shoot it into the glass, this mixes it up real wellThen suck the water back into the syringe and cap itIt's that simpleJust remember to practice good sterile techniqueSpore prints are easy to make too, using a sterile knife, cut the cap off a shroom as it's beginning to drop its spores and place it on a sterile square of paper or aluminum foilthen cover that with a cup and leave it for a day or twoOr transfer it to a new square every 8 hours or so until it stops leaving a print, the cap will actually continue to produce spores for a while after being severed from the stem so you end up getting a surprising amount.
Q: So my mom has been trying to make chocolate shot glasses, we have tried everything and just cannot get the hang of itwe bought plastic shot glassesThey freeze nicely and look GREAT but when we try to take them out of the plastic, they breakSomeone please help with a step by step (preferably) or any notes tips anything that will help!!!

Q: Normally when I wrap them up and bring to scool, it already tastes soggy.any idea?
I'd say the claims of WMD evidence are the most obvious, irrefutable liesBut also obvious is that you seem to think you already know the answer: Bush doesn't lie, Bush never lied, Bush couldn't possibly lieIf Bush decides the capital of Alaska is Fairbanks, by God, the capital of Alaska is Fairbanks, and Alaska clearly had it wrong!!! Perhaps Alaska snuck the capital to Juneau just to embarrass Bush.
Q: I'm just wondering what people thinkRight now the base STI is $8500 above the base WRX.I know you get 40 more hp, bigger brakes, the DCCD and I-Drive, and the wing (what can I say, I love the wing!)What else do you get? Do you guys think it's worth it?Mostly an opinion question, but throw in whatever back up you think is good.
Rigid Wrap is plaster-infused gauzeYou can buy it at the art supply store or at a medical supply storeThe latter is cheaperIt comes on a roll so you can cut off small chunksWet each piece and apply it to your sculptureThe first layer may be the most difficultI would wrap the plaster gauze around the structure so the gauze overlaps gauzeIt may not stick to the aluminum but it will stick to itselfStart at the bottom and let it dry, then add another layerAs mentioned, adding too much may compromise the structure so work slowly and allow time to dry between layers.
Q: Would it be good for playing modern hard rock and metal and hardcore, because I really like how it looks.
Take your cellphone to different areas of the houseWait one minute in each room and watch the bars for any signal strengthYou may even have to go outside and try different locations in your yardYou do have to wait about a full minute to see a responce on the bars - so be patientIf this fails to help - I dont know what to tell youThis works for meIf you have as little as One Bar - thats enough., but naturally the more bars the betterIf one room in the house gets reception thats where you want to keep it when home.

Q: My cat, Callie, was adopted from a local shelter almost two years agoThe shelter wasn't taking very good care of her (and they were overrun with kittens) so we brought her home with usI realized just recently that she is terrified of aluminum foilAs soon as I open the cupboard that contains the box, she'll freeze in the midst of whatever she's doing and run away as soon as I pull the box outI've never personally harmed her with it, nor has anyone in our family, so I don't know what her fear isI did a little research on this before I decided to ask all of you, and I discovered that some cats just don't like the soundI would have accepted this if it weren't for the fact that my other cat has no problem with itYou would think she would, but she's perfectly alright with itIt's just Callie that's afraidI don't know if something happened in the shelter she came from, but I wouldn't put it past those people, especially considering the condition of the shelterAny answers would be helpful! Thanks!
The most effective way to burn fat is to eat less and workout more often, the difficulties surface when we actually aim to put that into operation! There are lots of stumbling blocks in the big wide world aren't there?! The only method that really showed results for me is wu-yi tea, it can be seen in the resource box below, they have a handful of free trials left, it was highlighted in Fox News and USA TodayI shed 25 pounds, it really does produce results!
Q: A metal cube has a mass of 25 g and a volume of 2 cm3Is the cube made of pure aluminum?A:no Give the density of the metal cube to support your answer.A: g/cm3round to the lowest significant figurethat means only 2 placesWould the answer be 13??
