Description
Ferro Silicon uses coke, quartz (or silica) as raw materials and is made by electric furnace. Because silicon and oxygen are easily compound into SiO2, the ferrosilicon is often used as deoxidizer in steelmaking.
Features
1. Ferrosilicon also can be used as alloy elements join agent, which is widely used in low alloy steel, non-ferrous metal, bearing steel, heat-resistant steels and electrician silicon-steel.
2. Ferro silicon can be used as a reductant in ferroalloy production and chemical industry.
3 In iron industry it can be used as inoculant and nodulizer.

- Q:I need a simple short method cause I'm doing this for a powerpoint. Help please cause I can't really find anything on the net their all really complicated stuff which are so long winded which i do not need. I just need the main points!
- This Site Might Help You. RE: Are Avon tyres any good? I want to put a decent set of tyres on my car, I cant afford the likes of Michelin as thats what I had on previously and I think theyre over rated personally. So our Avon tyres any good? they seem quite good value for money but what are they like on the road? Thanks
- Q:Hi, on a vacation to alabama, i found some iron ore at a relatives house. i went back home to washington(state) and i want to melt it now, how do i do that?Note: the best source of heat i have is a propane torch used to burn weeds
- Sorry. Higher temp.s than that propane torch can provide are required. What are you trying to do? If you did just melt it, all you'd get is slag anyway.
- Q:How much iron ore did the SS edmund fitsgerald carry when sinked?
- On November 9, 1975 she departed from Superior, WI with approximately 26,000 tons of ore bound for Detroit MI. Some rumors were that she was twice her own weight which would have made her cargo laden with 27,264 lbs or ore. Happy Safe Boating, John
- Q:havin trouble and bored
- for iron u can go to the mining area in al kharid for coal, u can go to barbarian village in the center or if u have 60+ mining u can go into mining guild and there's bunch of coal there
- Q:I have an exam tomorrow in Princ. of Macroeconomics, and I‘m having trouble with the question below. I‘m aware of the expenditure method GDP C + I + G + (EX - IM). In calculating GDP by the expenditure method, there are two ways to avoid the double counting of intermediate goods. Demonstrate your understanding of these two methods by showing how both produce the same calculation of contribution to GDP. Assume the following: 1) Iron ore is produced by iron mining, which is sold to steel makers for $30 million (we will make the simplifying assumption that iron mining uses no intermediate goods). 2) The iron ore is all used to make steel, which is sold to automobile makers for $100 million. 3) The steel is all used to make automobiles, which are sold to dealers for $250 million. 4) All of the automobiles are sold by the dealers to consumers for $350 million. What are the two methods, and what contribution to GDP can be calculated by each method, from the above assumptions?
- sorry. Your exams are over. Value added of each activity is a measure of its contribution to GDP. Given the data and the simplifying assumtions, the contribution/ value added is: Iron Ore mining: $30 million (nothing is said to be consumed as raw material here) minus depreciation if any Steel Making: $100 milion- $ 30 million - ( other raw material costs like coke and depreciation) if any $70 million if there are no otrher costs on intermediates and depreciation Automile manufacturing : $250- $100 i.e., $150 million assuming no depreciation and no other intermediates used. Automoble Retailing: $(350-250) million $100 million under simplifying assumptions. The above is both the Value added or Income method and also the Expenditure Method (if you go in the reverse order from final car backwards to iron ore mining. Because, it is the cars which is the final good that is being consumed and enters as part of C in the equation GDP C + I + G + (EX - IM).
- Q:What was the first alloy ?What metals are needed to produce iron? What is another word for deity?
- Pants, wallet and a very wet blanket
- Q:how pure iron is exracted from its ore?
- Smelting of iron was discovered over 2 thousand years ago. The basic process is to heat up the ore (which is mostly Fe-oxide) in the presence of C (coal or even wood). The reaction between C and O produces CO CO2 and takes O away from Fe2O3, Fe3O4, and Fe) (the 3 most common oxides) so, for example, Fe2O3 + C Fe + CO2 (once you balance the eqn). This does not make pure Fe because the Fe ore is not pure. In addition to the extra C the Fe picks up as Fe3C, Fe carbide, there are many impurities. One common impurity is S in the form of Fe-sulfide. This creates problems when you try to hammer the lump of Fe into a shape. Typically, adding Mn addresses this problem because the Mn takes S away from Fe-sulfide (forming Mn sulfide). In modern times (the start of the industrial revolution) Mr Bessimer invented the Bessimer Converter for producing Fe from ore in large quantities. There have been numerous improvements since. Google Mr B, blast furnaces, steel making, check out pedia. To make pure Fe (at least as pure as we know how to do), you start with commercially pure Fe (or commercially pure Fe oxide) and disolve it in acid and use electrolysis to plate out Fe that is more pure than what you started with. You can then melt the Fe in a vacuum and some of the remaining impurities will boil away (they have higher vapor pressure than Fe when Fe is molten). There are other metallurgical tricks depending on how much money you want to spend but the highest purity Fe is around 99.9999% pure Fe. I hope this helps.
