- Q: I opened up my mouse, and im currently using it without the top, because the left click on the mouse is only working about 1 in every 50 or so clicks with the shell on it.Is there a way I can make the click work again with the shell on or do I simply have to buy a new mouse?
- Well, I don't really have much experience in fixing mice on computers, but with the cost of a mouse today (less than $10 for a cheap one), I would recommend just buying a new one. Its a product that would be more expensive to fix than to simply buy a new one. Sorry.
- Q: i mean how much money does the electrical utility consider for load shedding (for 1kilo watt) in USA?
- Load shedding doesn't cost the utility company anything. It saves them money when it prevents a system wide brown- or blackout. Load shedding means that the customers participate in a program to shut down some electrical loads in their individual buildings. This might happen whenever the utility grid is in danger of having to produce more electricity than the combined capacity of all the available generating equipment on the system. If there are any costs involved, it might be the lost revenue to the utility from the sales of electricity above the generating capacity or the lost production if one of the customers has to shut down revenue producing equipment.
- Q: Conduct regular maintenance tests for the electrical equipment. The following actions should be taken to reduce the probability of potential electrical deficiencies at this facility. The Hazard
- potential electrical deficiencies means the possibility that this facility will not work due to electrical problems in other words, future problems caused by lack of maintenance on the electrical equipment. Therefore, the sentence could be rephrased as follows: The following actions should be taken to to make sure all the electrical equipment stays in good working order.
- Q: Any tips for a rock band that will be playing shows in the next month or so? Set-up, breakdown of equipment, working the crowd, preperation, etc?
- Learn to put up and break down your equipment quickly. I've seen a drummer take 30 minutes to set up the most basic of drum sets when the set was brought in. Have backups for your guitars and electrical equipment. A broken string on a guitar is a 15 minute pause on your set (experienced that from the same band that took that long on the drum set) to fix it. Ignore the crowd if you think they are bored (in music videos those crowds are paid to be all festive, but they are no where near that in real life). If they aren't paying attention to you, you can forget the onstage talk and sing alongs. Ignore the drunks (talk with the manager before hand on having the manager remove the noisy drunks). Have your merchandise (same band above forgot their stuff and I wanted a CD)!
- Q: If you have a cell phone near any sort of electrical equipment that emits noise, old or new, you'll hear that skipping buzz noise. What causes this exactly, what is it, etc?
- The cell phone in fundamentally a radio. Radios emit radio frequencies energy which will interfere (RFI) with other audio equipment like an AM radio. You hear the noise while the phone is communication with the tower. It does this from time to time to let the tower know it is online and ready to receive data and of course to transmit/receive data. Hope that helps.
- Q: I recently came across an article that many Jews are now reevaluating whether electricity really is tantamount to lighting a fire, a forbidden act on the Jewish Sabbath, due to advances in our understanding of electricity through modern science. Is anyone aware of changing opinions on the use of electricity on the Jewish Sabbath? Are some Orthodox groups really changing their position?
- There's a difference between changing your opinion and changing your position. Not all electrical devices create a spark when they are turned on, but some do (incandescent light bulbs, for one obvious example). But because it has become accepted practice that observant Jews don't turn any electric devices on or off on the Sabbath, I am pretty sure that barring a new technology replacing electricity, it will continue to be prohibited. A parallel example is that of kitniyot on Passover. There is absolutely no Torah basis to conclude that corn, rice, etc., are chametz. The reason that they were classed along with chametz as forbidden grains had to do with the way mills worked at the time of the Talmud - that since they could all be ground into flour, and mills often ground every type of flour, they could become corrupted with chametz. Nowadays, it is rare to find a mill that grinds all types of grains into flour indiscriminately, and beyond that, FDA regulations require flours to be properly labelled - especially in this era of severe allergies. So there is no longer any logical reason to forbid eating kitniyot on Passover. And Sephardic Jews (depending on the community) do eat many of them. But even though this is accepted wisdom and has been for years, nevertheless, the laws are not being negated. After a certain period of time, the practice becomes the law. And once it's the law, it stays that way.
- Q: I plan to major in electrical engineering. I wanted to know if the stuff I learn there will allow me to do things like fix machines and stuff.I picked this major because I wanted something I can use at home
- Yes and no. The basics will be covered in both theory and some lab exercises, but the bulk of what you learn as an electrical engineer, will be power generation/distribution and industrial applications, not domestic. There will remain a whole lot of best practices and regulations electricians know about, but you will have to research on your own if you want to maintain/expand the electrical system in your house. So, yes you will be qualified if you inform yourself about the practicalities, but it won't make you a qualified electrician be default.
- Q: I mean for SF6 (gas) containers used to refill electrical quipment such as circuit breakers, must the container be discharged completely, or is it possible to retain a partial amount of SF6 gas in the container for future refilling activities? Any electrical experts out there, would really appreciate your assistance with this. Thanks!
- Check the MSDS sheet for safe transport. Is a seal broken before use? Do the containers get returned after use or are they discarded (how?). Your local power company must have info because they use this stuff at switching stations.
- Q: I am planning to buy a big guitar amp from america and you dont want to mess around with something as powerful as that so i want to know is there suitable adapters out there for such a job? because i heard that some electrical equipment from America will eventually burn out if you use it in Ireland!!help!?!?!
- As long as you get a proper adapter that can handle the load, you should be fine
- Q: I am a freshman of the engineering program at the university of Wyoming. Right now I am going into electrical because I wanted to stay in Wyoming and I thought that it would be easier to get a job in the production and distribution of electricity through something like Rocky Mountain Power. I don't mind doing the math and physics for electrical, but I am thinking that I would enjoy becoming a mechanical engineer. At the moment I believe mechanical is much more hands on, designing parts and testing them. I don't know what these two would lead into though. Electrical makes more money, but is that worth it? Also how hard would it be to get a job in this region with mechanical?
- both electrical and mechnical are good field.
