Except when it was too thin and the heat tended to kind of curl or warp it. Will inkjet printers print on the same material? Or does it have to have some coating?

- In practice no - at least not on a domestic scale. The structure of most plastics would break down and the material would weak, become brittle or even carbonised, at least locally. Your chances are negligible of controlling the process (temperature) accurately enough (for those few plastics for which it may be possible) to get a viable material. Try it with a few small samples. Then just buy some plastic sheeting.
- Q:i want to melt some of my unused cd's to make a uniform plastic sheet. but i haven't succed, i tryed putting them in the stove but it was a total mess...any idea? i'm trying to reach the point of melting when the plastic is like liquid, to work with it easyer. thanks
- Have you ever melted chocolate or crayons? It is the same process you need indirect heat you would need a bigger pot dirrectly on the stove with water in it and a smaller pot inside that with the plastic in it. It will probably take quite a while but this should work.
